Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo show a fixed header as it appears in the browser, capture the visible viewport while the header is on screen. To save the whole page, use a full-page capture, then inspect the result: a fixed or sticky header can be repeated, displaced, or overlap content, and the result depends on the browser, capture method, and site. If you need only the header, capture that element instead.
Choose the right kind of screenshot
| What you need to show | Capture type | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The page as it currently appears, with the header on screen | Visible-area or viewport capture | It includes only the part currently visible, not the entire document. |
| The entire long page | Full-page capture | Check whether the header appears in the intended position, repeats, or covers content. Firefox documents full-page capture but does not promise identical fixed-header behavior across browsers and pages. |
| Only the header or another specific block | Element or node capture | The crop focuses on that element and its descendants, without the surrounding page context. |
| A responsive layout at set dimensions | Set a responsive viewport, then capture | Dimensions are repeatable, but desktop device emulation is not the same as running the page on a real phone. |
A full-page image is not simply a taller version of what a reader sees at one moment. If the important detail is the header’s current on-screen appearance, use a viewport capture. If the page’s content matters more than the header, consider capturing the relevant element.
Capture a webpage in Firefox
Save the visible viewport or the full page
- Open the webpage and scroll until the fixed header is visible in the position you want to show.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Take Screenshot. You can also use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save visible to capture the current viewport, or Save full page to capture the whole document. Firefox’s screenshot interface can also capture a selected region or an automatically highlighted page part.
- Save or copy the image, then inspect it at its intended dimensions. Confirm that the header is visible where you expect and does not obscure text.
Mozilla documents these screenshot choices in its Firefox screenshot support guide.
Capture a specific element in Developer Tools
- Open Developer Tools and go to the Inspector.
- Find the header or other element you want to capture.
- Open that element’s context menu and select Screenshot Node.
For console-based captures, Firefox’s Web Console helper supports full-page and CSS-selector captures. For example, enter :screenshot --fullpage to capture the full page, or use :screenshot --selector "header" to capture a matching element. The helper also supports delay, device-pixel-ratio, filename, and clipboard options; consult the Firefox Developer Tools screenshot documentation for the exact syntax. Reusing a filename overwrites the previous image.
Enable the Developer Tools screenshot button
If you want a dedicated full-page screenshot button in Developer Tools, open Developer Tools Settings → Available Toolbox Buttons and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page. The Firefox documentation describes both the toolbox-button workflow and the Inspector’s Screenshot Node option.

Set a repeatable viewport in Chrome
For a screenshot that must show a particular responsive layout, use Chrome DevTools Device Mode to set the viewport’s width and height, then capture the visible browser area. Chrome describes Device Mode as a first-order simulation: it helps reproduce dimensions but is not equivalent to running the page on an actual mobile device. If mobile-specific rendering is important, verify the result on a real device. See Chrome’s Device Mode documentation.
Check the saved image before sharing it
- For a viewport capture, confirm the header is in the desired on-screen state and the important page content is visible.
- For a full-page capture, look for a repeated or displaced header, overlap, missing content, and unexpected changes in layout.
- For an element capture, make sure the crop includes everything needed to understand the header or block.
- If you changed CSS to move or hide an obstruction, treat the result as an edited view, not a faithful record of the original page.
There is no universal fixed-header result established for every browser, site, and capture method. Inspect the output rather than assuming a full-page screenshot will preserve the header exactly as it appeared in the viewport.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. The example below captures a webpage; check the documentation for the available capture options and choose the scope that fits your use case. A screenshot should still be inspected if exact fixed-header placement matters.

cURL, adapted to capture the example URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and request options. Before capture, ScreenshotNeo can accept the cookie or consent banner as a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses include X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is available on every plan. For a capture you need to repeat or automate, the API supports options such as full-page capture with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element capture, device presets and custom viewports, custom CSS or JavaScript, wait conditions, and caching with a chosen TTL. Use the API documentation to select settings rather than assuming the example request changes fixed-header behavior.

The header is missing from the image
If the screenshot shows only part of the page, it may be a visible-area capture rather than a full-page capture. To show the header’s current state, scroll until it is visible and capture the viewport. To show the entire document, choose full-page capture and inspect the output.

The header appears more than once or covers content
Full-page capture behavior can vary with the site and capture method. Try a viewport capture if the header’s on-screen appearance is the priority. If you need a tall page image, review the saved file for repeats and overlap; do not assume the capture is a faithful single-viewport view.
The page looks different at mobile dimensions
Check the viewport width and height before capturing. Chrome Device Mode simulates responsive dimensions but is not actual mobile execution, so confirm on a phone if device-specific behavior matters.
