The quickest method depends on your device and whether you need the visible screen or an entire web page. On Android, Chrome can make a long capture from More > Share > Long screenshot. Android 12 and later may also offer a system-level scrolling capture after you press Power + Volume down. On a computer, use Chrome DevTools: open the command menu and run Capture full size screenshot. The desktop command is described in a Chrome Community answer dated March 6, 2025, so labels and availability can vary by Chrome version.
First choose the kind of screenshot you need
A normal screenshot records only the pixels currently visible in the Chrome window. A long or full-page screenshot continues below the fold and is useful for an article, receipt, dashboard, or documentation page.
- Visible viewport: Use your phone or computer’s ordinary screenshot shortcut.
- Long page on Android: Use Chrome’s Long screenshot option, or Android’s scrolling capture when supported.
- Full page on desktop: Use Chrome DevTools’ full-size capture command.
Some pages load content only after scrolling, require sign-in, or contain fixed headers. Check the result before sharing it; a screenshot captures what Chrome successfully rendered, not content blocked by a login, consent prompt, or network failure.
How do I take a screenshot of a web page on Android Chrome?
Chrome’s Long screenshot option
- Open the page in Chrome for Android.
- Tap More (the three-dot menu).
- Tap Share, then choose Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to set the top and bottom of the capture.
- Tap Confirm.
- Use the available controls to edit, share, copy into another app, or save the image.
Google documents this workflow in Chrome Help’s Android sharing instructions. Menu names can differ slightly with the Chrome app version, Android build, or phone manufacturer.

If “Long screenshot” is missing
- Update Chrome from your device’s app store and reopen the page.
- Try the Android system method below; it is separate from Chrome’s share menu.
- Capture the page in sections if the page or device does not expose a scrolling option.
- On a managed work device, ask your administrator whether screenshot capture is restricted.
How to use Android’s built-in scrolling screenshot
- Open the Chrome page and position it at the starting point you want.
- Press Power + Volume down together. Some phones provide an alternate screenshot command through the Power button menu.
- After the initial screenshot, tap Capture more when the control appears.
- Adjust the selected area, then save or share the result.
Google says scrolling screenshots are available on Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling. Support is not universal: manufacturers can change the buttons, and some apps or pages do not expose a scrollable capture. See Google’s Android screenshot guide for device-specific behavior.
How to take a visible screenshot on a computer
Windows
Click the Chrome window, then press Windows + Shift + S to select an area, or press Print Screen for the system’s configured screen capture. The exact overlay and save location depend on your Windows version and settings.
macOS
Press Shift + Command + 4 to select an area, or Shift + Command + 3 to capture the entire display. macOS normally saves the image to the desktop unless you changed the screenshot destination.

These shortcuts capture the screen, so browser chrome, other windows, and a partial page may be included. Maximize Chrome and hide anything sensitive before taking the image.

Chrome’s DevTools can request a full-size image that extends beyond the visible viewport. The following sequence comes from a Chrome Community answer posted March 6, 2025, rather than a current official Chrome desktop help article. Chrome versions can expose different command names or behavior.
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with Ctrl + Shift + I on Windows/Linux or Command + Option + I on Mac.
- Open the DevTools command menu with Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows/Linux or Command + Shift + P on Mac.
- Type capture full size screenshot.
- Select the matching command.
- Wait for Chrome to create the image, then check the downloaded file.
The community procedure is described at Google Chrome Community. If the command does not appear, click inside DevTools before opening the command menu, type only “screenshot,” and look for a full-size capture command. Otherwise use a visible screenshot or an external capture service.

What desktop full-page capture can and cannot include
- It can include content below the fold that belongs to the document’s rendered page.
- Images that load only after interaction or scrolling may remain absent.
- Sticky headers, animations, and live data can appear more than once or at an unexpected state.
- A page behind a login, CAPTCHA, or failed network request cannot be captured as if it had loaded.
Fix common Chrome screenshot problems
The Long screenshot or Capture more button is unavailable
Confirm that you are on Android 12 or newer for Android’s system scrolling capture and that the page actually scrolls. Chrome’s own Long screenshot is a different feature and may vary by Chrome release. Update Chrome, restart it, and try a simpler page. If the phone is managed by an organization, screenshot prevention may be intentional.
The full-size DevTools command is missing
DevTools commands change. Make sure DevTools has focus, reopen the command menu, and search for “capture” or “screenshot.” The documented desktop sequence is a community workaround, not a guaranteed feature in every build. A regular screen capture is the fallback when the command is unavailable.
The image is blank, cropped, or too short
- Wait for the page’s visible content to finish loading before capturing.
- Scroll through the page once to trigger lazy-loaded images, then retry.
- Close cookie banners, chat panels, or modal dialogs that cover content.
- Check that you saved the newly created file rather than an older download.
A work profile blocks screenshots
Chrome Enterprise documentation describes a screenshot-prevention policy for managed users and browsers with a Chrome Enterprise Premium license, on supported platforms. It does not mean every personal Chrome installation blocks screenshots. Contact your administrator rather than attempting to bypass a policy. The page contains private information
Review the image at 100% before sending it. Crop account numbers, addresses, tokens, and browser tabs; remember that a screen capture can include notifications or other windows outside the page.
