To take a screenshot and print it: capture the screen with your device’s shortcut, find the saved image (or paste it from the clipboard), open it in a print-capable app, and choose the printer in the print dialog. The exact shortcut, selection mode, and save location depend on your device.
Built-in screenshot tools are normally enough for this job. Follow the section for your device, then use the printing steps near the end.
Choose the right capture method

A capture can be a file, a clipboard item, or both. If you cannot find it, check the clipboard and the platform’s default folder or photo library before taking another screenshot.
Windows: capture with Snipping Tool and print
Take the screenshot
- Press Windows+Shift+S to open the Snipping Tool overlay. You can also press Print Screen if that shortcut is enabled.
- Choose Rectangle, Window, Full screen, or Freeform capture.
- Select the screen area or window. A notification opens the result in Snipping Tool.
- Press Ctrl+S, choose a filename, folder, and image type, and save the snip. Saving it to Desktop or Pictures makes the next step easy.
Print it
- In File Explorer, right-click the saved image and choose Print, or open it in Snipping Tool and select File > Print.
- Select the configured printer, paper size, orientation, scaling, and number of copies.
- Preview the result if the dialog offers a preview, then select Print.
If you pressed Print Screen and nothing appeared as a file, open an image editor, press Ctrl+V, and save the pasted image before printing.

Mac: use Screenshot or keyboard shortcuts
Capture the screen
- Press Shift+Command+3 for the entire screen.
- Press Shift+Command+4 and drag to capture a selected area.
- For a window or menu, press Shift+Command+4, press Space, then click the target.
- On macOS Mojave 10.14 or later, press Shift+Command+5 to open the Screenshot app. It provides full-screen, window, and selected-area modes, a timer, and a save-location menu.
Unless you changed the Screenshot setting, macOS saves captures to the Desktop. Open the image there and confirm that it contains the content you want.
Print it
- Double-click the screenshot to open it in Preview or another print-capable app.
- Choose File > Print. In Chrome, Command+P opens the print dialog.
- Choose the printer and paper settings, check the preview, and print.
Some protected apps, including Apple TV in Apple’s documentation, may refuse screenshots. A normal print workflow cannot override an app’s capture restriction.
iPhone: capture, find, and print
Take the screenshot
- On a Face ID iPhone, press and quickly release Side and Volume Up together.
- On a Touch ID model with a side button, press Side and Home together. On a model with a top button, press Top and Home.
- Open Photos > Collections > Media Types > Screenshots to locate the image.
On iOS 26, screenshot tools appear after capture. On iOS 18 and earlier, a temporary thumbnail appears; tap it to mark up or share immediately.
Capture a full page when available
For supported long content, such as a webpage in Safari, use the screenshot preview and choose Full Page. This option is not available for every app or screen.

Print it
- Open the screenshot in Photos and use the share action, or open it in another app that provides a print command.
- Choose the available printer and adjust the options shown by the print workflow.
- Confirm the preview and print.
Printer setup and available destinations depend on the printer and the apps installed on the iPhone. Follow the printer manufacturer’s setup instructions for your particular model.
Android: capture ordinary or scrolling screens
Take the screenshot
- Press Power and Volume Down at the same time.
- If that does not work, hold Power and tap Screenshot when that option appears.
- Use the preview to crop, annotate, share, or save the image.
On current Google Photos versions, find it at Photos > Collections > On this device > Screenshots. Older phones may use the Gallery app’s Screenshots album.
Capture a scrolling page
Google documents scrolling screenshots for Android 12 and later on most screens that support scrolling. Take a screenshot, then tap Capture more and extend the selected area. Menus and labels vary by manufacturer, and some apps do not expose a scrollable capture.
Print it
- Open the screenshot in Photos or Gallery.
- Use Share or the app menu to select a print-capable destination.
- Choose the printer and settings supplied by your phone’s print workflow, then print.
If the shortcut itself fails, consult the phone manufacturer’s support instructions; Android controls are not identical on every model.

Chromebook: save the capture in Downloads
Take the screenshot
- Press the dedicated Screenshot key if your keyboard has one.
- Otherwise press Shift+Ctrl+Show windows. With an external keyboard that lacks the Show windows key, use Ctrl+Shift+F5.
- Choose full-screen, partial, or window capture, then select the area if needed.
Captures save to Downloads by default. Open the Screen Capture settings if you want a different folder.
Print it
- Open the file from the Files app.
- Use the image viewer’s print command.
- Select the printer and print settings, preview the page, and confirm.
Print a screenshot from any computer
On Windows or Linux in Chrome, Ctrl+P opens the print dialog. On Mac, use Command+P. You can also open the image in a file viewer and choose File > Print.
- Open the saved screenshot at its original size.
- Open the print dialog and select a destination. This may be a physical printer, a PDF printer, or another destination offered by your operating system.
- Set paper size, orientation, margins, scaling, and copies. Use “fit to page” when the screenshot is wider than the paper, or choose a higher scale when small text needs to remain readable.
- Check the preview for clipped edges, unexpected rotation, or a blank page.
- Print. A standard printer must already be installed and configured; use the manufacturer’s setup instructions if it is not listed.
For a very tall screenshot, consider a scrolling capture only when the source device supports it. Otherwise, print selected sections or use landscape orientation so text is not reduced excessively.

Troubleshooting
The screenshot is missing
Check the clipboard by pasting into an image editor, then check the platform’s default folder: Desktop on Mac, Downloads on Chromebook, and Screenshots in iPhone or Android photo libraries. Also check whether you changed the save location in Screenshot or Screen Capture settings.
The shortcut does nothing
Press the keys simultaneously and release them quickly where required. On Android, try the Power menu’s Screenshot command; if neither works, use the phone maker’s instructions. On a Chromebook, verify that the external keyboard has the correct Show windows or F5 mapping.
The print option is unavailable
Open the image in another print-capable app, such as Preview on Mac or a standard image viewer on Windows. If no printer appears, install or configure it according to the manufacturer’s instructions, or select an available PDF destination.

The printed image is cropped or unreadable
Use the print preview, switch between portrait and landscape, reduce margins where available, and choose fit-to-page or a larger paper size. For long pages, capture only the needed section or use a supported scrolling capture before printing.
A protected app will not capture
Some applications intentionally block screenshots. Do not assume that changing the shortcut will bypass the restriction; use the app’s own export or print function when it provides one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I print a screenshot without saving it first?
Yes, if the capture remains on the clipboard and the destination app can accept pasted images and print them. Saving first is safer because it preserves the original file and makes it easier to reopen the image if the print dialog closes.

Screens use light, while printers use ink or toner, so colors and contrast can change. Use the print preview, choose the correct paper type when offered, and avoid aggressive “fit” scaling that makes fine text too small.
Can I print several screenshots on one sheet?
Open the images in a print-capable app that supports layouts or contact sheets, arrange the images there, and print the combined page. The exact controls depend on that app and operating system.
