To capture only the visible mobile screen in LambdaTest SmartUI, set fullPage: false in the capture configuration. SmartUI documents fullPage as defaulting to true for mobile viewports, so specify false explicitly when you do not want a full-page image. Choose the target viewport or mobile device and orientation to control the screen shape.
Set SmartUI to capture the visible viewport
- Open the SmartUI configuration for your mobile capture. Set
fullPage: false. This requests a screenshot of the visible viewport rather than the entire page. SmartUI’s SDK advanced configuration documentation says the mobile default istrue, so do not rely on the default for a viewport-only result. - Set the screen dimensions. Where your workflow supports it, configure
viewportsas width-and-height pairs. The documentation gives 360 × 640 as an example. For browser-specific sizes, usecustomViewportsto associate browser names with viewport dimensions. - Choose the mobile context. In the Responsive DOM mobile options, select the device and portrait or landscape orientation. Resize the test browser viewport as appropriate before taking the snapshot.
- Capture and inspect the output. Check that the screenshot shows the intended screen area at the target size. The settings do not guarantee that every site element, lazy-loaded image, or browser behavior will render identically in every capture.
Choose viewport-only or full-page capture
| Capture mode | Setting | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Visible mobile viewport | fullPage: false |
You need only the area currently visible in the mobile browser window. |
| Full-page mobile screenshot | fullPage: true |
You want the output to extend down the page. SmartUI documents this as the default for mobile viewports. |
SmartUI also documents a separate full-page screenshot hook in its hooks guide. If you use that path, make sure its full-page behavior matches your goal rather than assuming it is equivalent to a viewport-only capture.
Responsive DOM width and loading caveats
The Responsive DOM guide describes workflow-specific resizing limits: Firefox has a documented minimum DOM width of 450 px, and Selenium Chrome resizing below 500 px is limited in the setup described there. These are caveats for that documented workflow, not universal limits for Firefox or Chrome.
If a page fills in content asynchronously or loads images lazily, the Responsive DOM documentation demonstrates an optional waitForTimeout. Use an appropriate wait for the page you are capturing, then inspect the result; a delay does not guarantee every page has finished rendering.

Troubleshooting a screenshot that looks cropped
- The image is taller than the visible screen: Check that
fullPageis explicitly set tofalsein the mobile capture configuration. The documented mobile default istrue. - The screen shape is wrong: Verify the configured viewport dimensions, device, and orientation. Confirm the browser window was resized before the snapshot in workflows that require it.
- The output cuts off content you expected to see: A viewport capture includes only the currently visible area; scroll or use full-page capture if you need content below it. If content should already be visible but has not loaded, consider a page-specific wait and capture again.
- The requested narrow width does not take effect: Check whether the Responsive DOM setup is subject to its documented Firefox or Selenium Chrome resizing caveat before treating the result as a general browser limitation.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot from one GET request. For example, this cURL call saves a WebP screenshot of a mobile-sized viewport; adjust the viewport parameters in your request as needed. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for configuration details.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webpScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
