Make a basic full-page request
Here is the simplest request, shown as a URL for clarity:

Choose the capture algorithm and viewport
Default full-page capture
By default, ScreenshotOne’s full-page algorithm expands the rendered viewport to the page height. This is straightforward, but some pages do not render correctly when treated as one very tall viewport. The full-page guide cautions that reliable rendering is challenging and may not work for every page, even after tuning. Read the full-page guide for the documented behavior.
Capture by scrolling through sections
If the default produces missing or misaligned content, try full_page_algorithm=by_sections. This captures as the page scrolls and combines sections, which can help on more complex layouts. Its viewport height determines the section size. Smaller sections may trigger more lazy-loading events, but can take longer to capture; scroll timing and the page’s behavior still affect the result.
Set the viewport for the layout you want
Viewport width determines the responsive layout and the resulting screenshot width. ScreenshotOne’s guide lists 1280 pixels as the default width. The documented default viewport height is 1024 pixels; for the section-based algorithm, that height controls section size. Choose a width that reflects the device layout you need to capture, rather than assuming a full-page screenshot will use the site’s widest layout.

Full-page capture automatically enables scrolling by default to help trigger lazy-loaded images and sections. If content is still absent, adjust the scroll step and pause between scrolls. Smaller steps give the page more opportunities to load content; longer pauses give scripts and network requests more time, at the cost of a slower capture.
ScreenshotOne’s guide gives full_page_scroll_by=500 and full_page_scroll_delay=1500 as example tuning values—not universal best settings. It also suggests adding 5 to 10 seconds of page delay when a site needs more time to render. Try changing one setting at a time and inspect the result, because the right timing depends on the target page.

Handle very long pages and infinite scroll
Set a maximum height
An infinite-scroll page may keep adding content as the capture scrolls. Set full_page_max_height to limit how tall the screenshot can become. This also gives a predictable bound for an unusually long document. Pick a limit that includes the content you need without allowing an unbounded capture; the options reference documents the parameter.
Return a tall page as slices
If one extremely tall image is inconvenient for a downstream image or AI workflow, request full_page_slices=true together with full_page=true. A JSON response includes a slice array. The documented default slice height is 4000 pixels, and the allowed range is 1 to 16000 pixels. Overlap is optional, but the slice height minus overlap must leave an effective step of at least 100 pixels. Slices cannot be combined with store=true. See ScreenshotOne’s slicing guide for details.

Use slices when your next processing step benefits from smaller images; use a height cap when the concern is runaway page length. These solve different problems and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Reduce motion and account for sticky or changing elements
For pages whose animations make captures vary, reduce_motion=true actively reduces supported animation and pauses supported looping media. This is best-effort: custom JavaScript, canvas content, and animated images may still differ. By contrast, reduced_motion=true sets a browser preference and relies on the page to honor it. The two options are not equivalent; check the options reference before choosing one.
Scrolling can also expose layout behavior that a single expanded viewport does not: sticky headers may appear repeatedly, galleries may change, and other content may depend on scroll position. ScreenshotOne’s e-commerce guide calls out scroll-dependent content, repeated sticky elements, animation, and changing product galleries as considerations. Troubleshoot an incomplete or unexpected screenshot
- Lazy-loaded images or sections are missing: reduce
full_page_scroll_by, increasefull_page_scroll_delay, or add page delay. Recheck the result after each change; timing depends on the site. - The layout is broken or content is missing in the default capture: try
full_page_algorithm=by_sections. It can help with complex pages, though it may take longer and still depends on scroll timing. - Animations or looping media differ between captures: try
reduce_motion=truefor supported motion. It cannot guarantee consistency for custom JavaScript, canvas, or animated images. - The page is too tall or never stops growing: set
full_page_max_heightto bound the result. - Sticky headers repeat, a gallery changes, or scroll-dependent content looks wrong: compare the default and section-based algorithms and inspect the result against the intended page state. Scrolling can itself change what the page displays.
- Cookie banners, chat widgets, or ads obscure the page: ScreenshotOne’s e-commerce guide documents blocking options and heuristic banner handling. Use them only when removal is appropriate, since hiding or blocking elements changes what the screenshot depicts.
- The result remains incomplete after tuning: full-page rendering is not guaranteed to work on every page. Treat the screenshot as a rendered capture that may need verification, not proof that every part of the page was captured.
