You can also use Zen’s documented Shift+Ctrl+S shortcut (usually written Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows and Linux).
Take a full-page screenshot with Zen’s built-in tool
Zen’s native screenshot interface can capture either the part currently visible in the viewport or the entire rendered page. Use the page context menu when you want the most dependable, version-independent route.
- Open the webpage you want to capture in Zen Browser.
- Move the pointer over the webpage itself, not the tab strip, address bar, sidebar, or another browser control.
- Right-click and choose Take Screenshot.
- In the screenshot interface, choose Whole page. Do not choose the visible-area option if you need content below the fold.
- Use the interface’s save or copy action. The exact button wording and destination can vary between Zen releases and operating systems.
The important distinction is the capture mode: Whole page tells Zen to include content beyond the current viewport, while the visible-area choice captures only what you can see at that moment.
Use Zen’s screenshot keyboard shortcut
Zen’s official keyboard-shortcut list assigns Shift+Ctrl+S to Take Screenshot. On Windows and Linux, the same combination is normally written Ctrl+Shift+S; the order of the modifier names does not change the keys you press.

What “Whole page” captures—and what it does not promise
The native interface documents two distinct choices: Whole page and a capture of only the visible area. Whole page is the correct choice for an article, dashboard, documentation page, or other layout that extends below the viewport.
- Whole page: one image containing the page content beyond the initial viewport.
- Visible area: only the region currently displayed in the browser window.
- Save or copy: the action available after Zen generates the capture; labels can change between releases.
Do not assume that every Zen build has a separate automated “scroll and stitch” mode. A June 21, 2026 project discussion described scrolling capture as a requested enhancement, not as a universally available feature. If your build offers only the documented Whole page and visible-area choices, use Whole page for the complete page rather than looking for a separate scrolling toggle.

Capture a higher-resolution full page through DevTools
For a sharper large capture, a March 1, 2026 Zen discussion records a DevTools workaround:
:screenshot --fullpage --dpr 2
This is a developer-tool command, not a replacement for the normal screenshot menu.
- Open Zen’s DevTools using the method configured for your installation.
- Activate the DevTools command prompt or console that accepts screenshot commands.
- Run
:screenshot --fullpage --dpr 2. - Close DevTools after the command completes and locate the generated image using the save behavior shown by your build.
The --fullpage flag requests a page-length capture. --dpr 2 requests a device-pixel ratio of two, which is useful when the default output looks soft on a high-density display. Higher DPR also creates more pixels, so the resulting file can be substantially larger and take longer to generate. If the output is unnecessarily large, try a lower DPR value supported by your DevTools command.

- Wide viewing angle: Get consistent views across a wide 178° /178° viewing angle.
- In-Plane Switching (IPS): See excellent color accuracy and consistency across wide viewing angles with In-plane Switching (IPS) technology.
- Ultra-thin bezels: Maximize your viewing experience with thin bezels.
Treat this as a practical fallback: the discussion documents it as functional for full-resolution output, while Zen’s normal user-facing workflow remains the page context menu and Whole page.
Native screenshot or DevTools command?
| Criterion | Native Take Screenshot | DevTools command |
|---|---|---|
| Ease of use | Right-click, choose Take Screenshot, then Whole page | Requires DevTools and a command prompt |
| Full-page capture | Explicit Whole page option | --fullpage flag |
| Resolution control | Not stated in the documented UI | --dpr value, such as 2 |
| Save or copy behavior | Provided by the screenshot interface | Depends on the DevTools command behavior in your build |
| Element or region targeting | Not stated for the documented Whole page workflow | Not stated for this full-page command |
| Build dependence | Built-in command and labels can change across Zen releases | Depends on DevTools command support in the installed build |
Choose the native route for a quick, repeatable capture. Choose the DevTools route when output density matters more than convenience and you are comfortable with a developer-tool workflow.
Troubleshoot Zen full-page screenshots
“Take Screenshot” is missing from the menu
- Move the pointer over the webpage and right-click again. A context menu opened over browser chrome may not contain the page command.
- Confirm that Zen is displaying a normal webpage rather than a browser-internal page where page actions differ.
- Restart the page and try the context menu before relying on the shortcut.
Ctrl+Shift+S does nothing
- Use the page context menu and choose Take Screenshot; this bypasses shortcut registration problems.
- Open Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts and check the shortcut shown by your installation.
- Remember that Zen says some Firefox-derived shortcuts cannot be customized. If the entry is not editable, keep using the context-menu command.
The capture is blurry
- Run the DevTools fallback with an explicit DPR, beginning with
:screenshot --fullpage --dpr 2. - If the file becomes unwieldy, reduce the DPR value and capture again.
- Compare the result at its native pixel size; enlarging a normal-resolution image after capture cannot add detail.
The page is cut off below the fold
- Reopen the screenshot UI and confirm that Whole page, not visible-area capture, is selected.
- Check whether your build is offering the documented native choices rather than an experimental scrolling feature. Scrolling capture was still described as a requested enhancement in the June 21, 2026 discussion.
- Use the DevTools command as a fallback when the native result is incomplete and your build accepts the command.
The DevTools command is rejected
- Make sure you entered the command in the DevTools prompt that supports colon-prefixed commands, not an ordinary webpage text field.
- Verify the spelling and punctuation exactly:
:screenshot --fullpage --dpr 2. - If your Zen release does not expose this command, return to the built-in Take Screenshot workflow. The workaround is documented for specific builds and is not a guarantee for every release.
Practical quality and workflow tips
Let the page finish rendering
Wait for the page’s visible content to settle before starting the capture. This reduces the chance of recording an intermediate layout while fonts, images, or expanding sections are still changing.

Use the least complicated method that meets your need
For a normal documentation page, the native Whole page option is faster than opening DevTools. Reserve the DPR workaround for cases where pixel density is the problem, not as a mandatory step for every screenshot.
Check the result at 100 percent
After saving, inspect the top, middle, and bottom of the image at its actual size. A very tall page can look correct when fit to screen while small text remains unreadable when opened at full size.
Recheck instructions after Zen updates
Zen’s interface labels and shortcut presentation can change across releases. Before documenting the workflow for a team, verify the shortcut page and the context-menu wording in the build everyone uses.

Or skip the browser setup
If you need screenshots in a script, CI job, content pipeline, or AI workflow, ScreenshotNeo is the first service to try: it removes common consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a $5 paid plan for 3,000 shots.
One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. The API documentation is at https://screenshotneo.com/docs/.
cURL
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Replace the example URL with the page you want to capture. ScreenshotNeo can produce full-page images, load lazy images, target an element by CSS selector, set a viewport or device preset, use dark mode or retina scale, apply custom CSS and JavaScript, click before capture, hide selectors, wait for a selector, delay, or network idle, and block ads, trackers, requests, or resource types. It also supports custom headers, cookies, user agents, Authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, selectable cache TTLs, signed image links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work for easier migration.
For reliability, each response identifies the page verdict and whether it was billed through X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Which Zen method should you use?
Use the page context menu and Whole page for the standard answer. Use Ctrl+Shift+S when you want the same workflow without opening a menu. Use :screenshot --fullpage --dpr 2 in DevTools when you need a higher-density result and your Zen build supports the command. For automated captures outside the browser, use the ScreenshotNeo API instead.
