In Microsoft Edge, open the page you want, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture full page, review the result, and save it. This captures content below the visible screen without manually scrolling. Depending on your Edge version, Microsoft may label the feature Screenshot or Web capture.
Take a full-page screenshot in Edge
- Open the webpage in Microsoft Edge.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S. You can also open the browser menu (…) and choose Web capture or Screenshot. Some versions also expose the command from the page’s right-click menu or an Edge Settings menu.
- Choose Capture full page. Do not choose Capture area unless you want only a selected region.
- Let Edge render the capture, then inspect it for missing sections, overlays, or unexpected page states.
- Use the available markup, copy, or save controls. The exact controls can vary by Edge version and device.
The full-page command is different from an ordinary screen grab: it is intended to include the webpage below the current viewport, so you do not have to stitch together several scrolling screenshots.
What “Screenshot” and “Web capture” mean
Microsoft has changed the visible name of this feature. A current Edge help page calls it Screenshot, while Microsoft’s 2024 tutorial uses Web capture. They refer to the same built-in webpage-capture workflow. If a support article uses one name and your browser shows the other, follow the matching command rather than installing a separate extension.

Check the result before saving
Long pages can contain sticky headers, cookie dialogs, chat bubbles, animations, embedded documents, or sections that load only after interaction. Scan the capture from top to bottom before sharing it. If a banner obscures content, dismiss it and capture again. If a section appears blank, wait for the page to finish loading and repeat the command.
Edge’s official descriptions do not establish one universal maximum page length, image format, or guarantee that every dynamic or embedded element will render identically. Treat the saved image as a visual record of the page state Edge was able to render at that moment.

If the shortcut or command is missing
- Open Edge’s … menu and look for Web capture or Screenshot.
- Right-click the webpage and check for the capture command if your version exposes it there.
- Update Edge, restart it, and try the shortcut again.
- On a work or school computer, ask the administrator whether the Screenshot/Web Capture policy is disabled. Enterprise policy can enable or disable this feature.
- Remember that Microsoft’s 2024 instructions are written for the United States; feature availability and placement can vary by region.
If the page is controlled by an organization, a missing command may be intentional rather than a keyboard problem. Do not assume that another user’s menu layout will be identical to yours.
Advanced option: Edge DevTools
When the normal capture command is unavailable or you need a developer-oriented workflow, Edge DevTools provides Capture a full size screenshot.
- Open the target page.
- Open DevTools with F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I.
- Open the DevTools command menu with Ctrl+Shift+P.
- Type Capture a full size screenshot and select the command.
- Save the generated image when Edge presents it.
DevTools is useful for debugging and repeatable engineering work, but it is less approachable than the built-in Screenshot/Web capture command. DevTools placement and wording can also change between Edge releases.
When a PDF or visible-region capture is better
Use Edge printing for a document
Choose Edge’s print command when the goal is a printable document rather than an image. The print dialog can print all pages or selected pages and lets you adjust print output. A print result should not be described as a screenshot: pagination, margins, headers, and CSS print rules can change the appearance.

Use Windows Snipping Tool for what is on screen
Windows Snipping Tool captures the screen, a window, or a selected region. It is appropriate for visible content, error messages, and short areas, but it is not the same as Edge’s webpage-aware full-page capture.

Common problems and fixes
The shortcut does nothing
Use the … menu to find Screenshot or Web capture. If it is absent there as well, update Edge and check whether an enterprise policy has disabled the feature.
The page is cut off
Make sure you selected Capture full page, not Capture area. For pages that change while scrolling or load content late, wait for loading to finish, dismiss overlays, and try again. There is no official universal length limit or promise that every dynamic element will be included.

A cookie banner, popup, or chat widget covers the capture
Close the overlay before starting the capture. If it reappears, reload the page, allow the page to settle, and capture again. A website may also display different content based on region, consent state, login, or timing.

The page looks different in the saved image
Responsive layouts, animations, lazy loading, embedded frames, and print styles can change what is rendered. Capture at the intended window size and wait until important images or sections appear. For a document-oriented result, use printing instead.
The command is unavailable only on a managed device
Ask your administrator to review the Edge policy that controls Screenshot, formerly called Web Capture. Local troubleshooting cannot override an organization’s browser policy.
