A normal screenshot captures only the visible viewport. A long or full-page screenshot keeps extending down the scrollable content, allowing you to save an article, receipt, form, or documentation page in one file. Dynamic pages can still produce incomplete results if content has not loaded, if the page blocks scrolling, or if the browser cannot expose the content to its capture interface.
Android: use Chrome’s built-in Long screenshot
This is the most direct answer for a full-page screenshot in Chrome on a mobile phone. The labels below follow Google’s Chrome for Android instructions.
- Open the webpage in Chrome. Wait until the section you need has loaded. If the page lazy-loads images or text as you scroll, give it a moment to populate before capturing.
- Open the sharing controls. Tap More beside the address bar, then tap Share. On some Chrome layouts, Share appears as a toolbar shortcut; use the More menu if you do not see that shortcut.
- Choose Long screenshot. The option appears in Android’s share/screenshot interface when the current Chrome build and phone support it.
- Set the boundaries. Drag the top and bottom crop handles. Include only the page area you need; a shorter capture is easier to read and produces a smaller file.
- Confirm and export. Tap Confirm, then use the available share or save action to send the image to another app or store it on the device.
Getting a clean capture
- Scroll through the page once before starting if important images or text load only when they approach the viewport.
- Close site overlays yourself when possible. A cookie dialog, newsletter panel, or chat bubble that remains on the page can become part of the image.
- Rotate the phone only before opening the capture tool. Changing orientation during selection can reset the crop or alter the page layout.
- For a very long page, capture a meaningful range rather than shrinking the entire page into unreadable text.
Android fallback: the system Capture more command
If Chrome does not show Long screenshot, Android’s own scrolling screenshot may work. Google documents this feature for Android 12 and later and says it works on most screens that allow scrolling, not every screen.

- Press Power + Volume Down together to take a normal screenshot.
- Tap Capture more at the bottom of the screenshot interface.
- Use the crop guides to extend or reduce the capture area.
- Save or share the result from the screenshot controls.
The exact buttons can differ by phone manufacturer. If Capture more is absent, the Android version, the manufacturer’s screenshot implementation, or the current screen may not support scrolling capture. Google’s guidance points you to the phone maker’s support site when the standard controls do not work.
iPhone: what is and is not confirmed for Chrome
Apple’s official full-page workflow is documented for a webpage in Safari. It is the reliable, documented route when the page can be opened there.
- On a Face ID iPhone, quickly press and release Side + Volume Up. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and release Side + Home.
- Tap the screenshot preview that appears in the lower-left corner.
- At the top of the editor, tap Full Page.
- Review the page preview and choose where to save it. Apple documents saving the capture as an image to Photos or as a PDF to Files.
Apple’s example names Safari, not Chrome. Google lists iOS 17 and later as the requirement for the Chrome app on iPhone and iPad, but that is an app-availability requirement, not evidence that Apple’s Full Page control works inside Chrome. Therefore, do not promise a Chrome-on-iPhone full-page workflow for every supported device. If the page must remain in Chrome, take a normal screenshot, copy the URL into Safari for the documented full-page capture, or use an external capture service.
Why a long screenshot may stop early
Scrolling capture is not the same as printing the page. It follows the browser or operating system’s scrollable surface, so several page designs can limit the result.

- Nested scroll areas: A chat panel, table, or modal may scroll independently from the main document. The capture tool may follow the outer page and omit the inner content.
- Virtualized lists: Web apps sometimes render only the rows near the viewport. Rows that never render while the capture proceeds cannot appear in the final image.
- Sticky controls: Fixed headers, cookie bars, and floating buttons can be repeated down the image because they remain attached to the viewport.
- Authentication and expiring pages: A session can time out while you are selecting the range, or a protected page can redirect before the capture finishes.
- Very large pages: The phone may run out of memory, produce a slow export, or create an image that is difficult for other apps to open. Capture in sections when necessary.
Troubleshooting checklist
Long screenshot is missing in Chrome
Confirm that you are using Chrome on Android, not Chrome on an iPhone. Open More > Share rather than relying on a toolbar shortcut. If the option still does not appear, install pending Chrome and system updates, try the Android Capture more fallback, and check the phone maker’s documentation.
Capture more is unavailable
Google’s documented threshold is Android 12 or later, and support covers most scrollable screens rather than all of them. Check the Android version, try a page that scrolls normally, and test the phone’s screenshot tool in another app. A manufacturer-specific screenshot utility may use a different label.
The image contains only the visible screen
You probably saved the initial screenshot instead of extending it. After the normal screenshot, tap Capture more or, in Chrome’s flow, choose Long screenshot before confirming. If neither control appears, that screen is not exposing a supported scrolling surface.
Images or text are missing
Return to the page, scroll through the relevant sections so lazy content loads, then start a new capture. Disable a reader mode or content blocker temporarily if it is hiding required elements, and make sure the page has a stable connection.

The capture includes popups or a cookie banner
Dismiss the overlay before taking the screenshot. If it cannot be dismissed, crop below it where possible. A browser screenshot records what is rendered; it does not automatically remove every overlay.
The iPhone Full Page button is absent
Apple’s documented control is associated with a webpage screenshot in Safari. Open the page in Safari and repeat the Side-button shortcut, or save the visible Chrome page and use a separate capture workflow. Do not infer Chrome compatibility solely from the fact that Chrome supports iOS 17 and later.
