To route a YouTube live stream through Livepush, change OBS’s destination to Livepush, then configure Livepush to send the feed to your YouTube event. The path is OBS → Livepush → YouTube: OBS uses Livepush’s input server URL and key; Livepush uses the YouTube event’s stream key. Verify the signal at both services before making the event public. The documented workflow is general; the available instructions do not establish a separate India-specific setup or a tested connection for any Indian ISP or city.
Before switching: create or select the YouTube event
Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create a new live event or select the scheduled event you intend to use. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming in advance if the channel has never streamed before; this is a possible activation delay, not a guaranteed wait or a Livepush-specific delay. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain how to set up and start an encoder stream.
Keep the YouTube event’s stream key available for the Livepush destination setup. Treat it as a credential: YouTube describes stream keys as the stream’s “password and address.” Do not put this YouTube key into OBS for the routing method below. OBS needs Livepush’s input credentials instead.
Switch the signal path from OBS to Livepush
- Get Livepush’s input details. In Livepush, open the live input or stream dashboard and copy the RTMP server URL and stream key shown for that input. Exact dashboard labels can change; the steps described here follow Livepush’s help guide, published January 25, 2025. See Livepush’s OBS setup guide.
- Point OBS at Livepush. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select Custom as the service, paste Livepush’s server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields, then save. Do not paste the YouTube event key here.
- Start OBS and confirm the input. Start streaming in OBS. Check the Livepush dashboard and confirm that the feed appears there before proceeding. OBS reporting that it is streaming only confirms that OBS is sending to its configured destination; it does not confirm that the intended YouTube event is receiving the feed.
- Add YouTube as Livepush’s destination. In the Livepush stream dashboard, choose Add Destination and select YouTube. For the manual, event-key method, copy the RTMP stream key for the YouTube event you selected and enter it in Livepush’s YouTube destination settings. Save the destination and switch it on. Livepush’s manual-connect guide describes this workflow.
- Check the YouTube event preview. Return to YouTube Live Control Room and confirm that the correct event is receiving the feed. Inspect the preview and stream-health information. For a scheduled encoder stream, YouTube instructs the operator to wait for the preview and click Go live when ready. Plan a test or transition window: the setup instructions do not promise an uninterrupted handoff or automatic preservation of a stream already in progress.
Choose how Livepush connects to YouTube
Livepush describes both a channel-connection flow and manual event setup using a YouTube stream key. Check which options are currently available in your dashboard before configuring the destination; the interface may change. Livepush’s destination overview lists its connection modes.

| Method | What setup involves | Documented consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Connect a YouTube channel | Authorize or connect the channel through the option shown in Livepush. | The overview lists a channel connection option. The available instructions do not establish its current authorization screens or exact behavior; check the dashboard. |
| Manually configure an event | Enter the YouTube event’s RTMP stream key in the Livepush destination settings. | If the channel is not linked, Livepush says this manual setup must be repeated for each YouTube event. Its guide also says YouTube live comments do not appear in Livepush’s multichat overlay with this manual method. |
For either method, keep the two credential pairs straight: OBS sends to Livepush using Livepush’s input URL and key; Livepush sends to YouTube using the YouTube destination configuration, including the event key when using manual setup.
Test picture, sound, and stream health
- Use a representative test. Check typical movement and audio, rather than only a still screen or silent opening slate.
- Check YouTube’s health information. Confirm the intended event is receiving the feed and review the Live Control Room preview before going public.
- Choose settings for the actual connection. YouTube’s guidance covers encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution; select settings appropriate to the available upload connection and monitor stream health. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and YouTube’s live-streaming tips provide the platform’s recommendations.
- Use RTMPS only if the actual setup supports it. YouTube recommends RTMPS where the encoder supports it. The Livepush instructions cited here describe an RTMP input; do not assume an RTMPS option is available for your particular Livepush input without checking its dashboard.
- End the event cleanly. Follow the encoder and Live Control Room end-stream steps for the event. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; that is YouTube’s stated platform behavior, not a guarantee about longer streams.
Troubleshooting the switch
OBS says it is streaming, but Livepush shows no input
Check that OBS is set to Custom and that the server URL and key both came from the Livepush input you intend to use. Correct any mismatch, save the settings, and start the OBS feed again. The OBS status alone does not verify the destination’s receipt.

Livepush has a feed, but YouTube has no preview
Check that the YouTube destination is enabled in Livepush, that the destination configuration uses the intended event’s stream key, and that you are inspecting that same event in Live Control Room. If you changed events, update the manual destination key as required.
The YouTube preview appears, but the event is not public
For a scheduled encoder stream, YouTube’s instructions say to wait for the preview and click Go live when ready. Confirm the selected event and its status in Live Control Room.

YouTube live comments are missing from Livepush multichat
Livepush documents that comments are not shown in its multichat overlay when using the manual YouTube setup. Its channel-connection option is a different workflow; check the current dashboard and destination guide for available choices.
YouTube will not let the channel start a first stream
First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours according to YouTube. Complete the activation ahead of the planned stream and check Live Control Room rather than treating the delay as a Livepush input problem.

The stream drops during a test
Check stream health and whether OBS is still sending to Livepush, then verify whether Livepush is still delivering to the YouTube event. Review the connection and encoder settings against YouTube’s published guidance; the setup documentation does not guarantee an uninterrupted handoff or identify an India-specific network fix.
