You can stream a prepared playlist of Malayalam songs continuously on YouTube Live by sending its audio and a rights-cleared visual through a software or hardware encoder. First, make sure you have permission for both the recordings and compositions to be livestreamed and, if you want a replay, archived. Owning the files or having YouTube Premium does not give you broadcast rights. YouTube also scans live streams for music matches, and a licensed stream can still be interrupted unless the rights owner adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
What you need before starting
- Music rights: Permission covering the actual recordings and compositions, the territories where you will broadcast, YouTube Live transmission, and any saved replay. Keep written records of the permissions.
- A verified, eligible channel: YouTube requires channel verification and no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time Live activation can take up to 24 hours.
- An encoder: Software on a computer or a compatible hardware encoder sends the prepared audio-and-visual feed to YouTube.
- A visual you can use: Pair the playlist with a still image, waveform, or other visual that you have rights to use. Do not assume audio-only playback is sufficient.
- A stable internet connection: Measure upload capacity and leave spare bandwidth for fluctuations.
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the stream provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. A licence for personal listening, or for use on another platform, is not proof that you can broadcast the music on YouTube.
Clear the songs and reduce the risk of interruption
Get permission for the recordings and compositions
Check that your permissions cover the specific master recordings and musical compositions in the playlist. Confirm that they apply to YouTube livestreaming, your intended territories, and any replay or archive. Rights may involve different participants, so permission from one party may not cover every right you need.
Ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If you have licensed the songs, give the relevant rights owner your channel identifier and ask them to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist for the licensed use. YouTube warns that a live stream may still be interrupted when a licensed channel has not been allowlisted. A licence does not itself switch off Content ID enforcement.

Set up YouTube Live and connect an encoder
- Enable Live: In YouTube Studio, start the channel’s Live activation process and complete verification if prompted. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. A channel with a live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days is not eligible under the stated requirement.
- Create or schedule the broadcast: Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Choose the stream’s title, visibility, and other details for your intended broadcast.
- Copy the connection details: In the stream settings, copy the server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Configure your encoder: Paste the server URL and key into the encoder’s streaming destination settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure form of RTMP.
- Prepare the playlist and visual: Load the cleared Malayalam recordings in their intended order and pair them with the rights-cleared visual feed. Check how the encoder handles track changes, pauses, and the end of the playlist before relying on it unattended.
- Preview before going live: Start the encoder output and inspect the preview and stream-health indicators in Live Control Room. Confirm that both picture and sound arrive correctly before starting the public broadcast.
The exact encoder controls vary by application or device; use the current labels in that encoder for the streaming destination, video, audio, and playlist or media-source settings. YouTube’s verified encoder list includes software and hardware options. AJA HELO Plus is listed as a standalone H.264 encoder with PlayToStream functionality for scheduled prerecorded media sent to YouTube Live; it is an optional specialist device, not a requirement. Confirm current capabilities and availability with the manufacturer before buying.

Choose reliable video and audio settings
YouTube’s RTMP/RTMPS streaming guidance lists H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended keyframe interval of two seconds. Do not set the interval above four seconds. Select a bitrate appropriate for your chosen resolution, frame rate, codec, and measured connection; there is no single safe bitrate for every setup. Check YouTube’s current recommended bitrate table when configuring the encoder.
- Prefer RTMPS where your encoder supports it.
- Use CBR and the supported H.264 video and AAC or MP3 audio formats.
- Set keyframes every two seconds where possible; never exceed four seconds.
- Choose a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain consistently, rather than the highest setting it can reach briefly.
- Listen for clipping, silence, channel imbalance, and abrupt transitions during a representative test.
Test, monitor, and preserve a replay
Run a test with the same type of playlist, transitions, and visual activity you expect in the live program. Check the preview, audio level, picture, and stream health. YouTube recommends keeping upload bandwidth about 20% above the bitrate being sent, to provide headroom for network variation. Its streaming guidance and stream-health guidance can help interpret encoder and connection warnings.

Monitor the stream while it is running, especially after starting, changing playlists, or recovering from a connection problem. If you use a backup encoder or network connection, test the handoff rather than assuming it will work. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy.
Do not treat a continuous broadcast as a guaranteed archive. YouTube can automatically archive streams under 12 hours; a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. If YouTube replay access matters, end and restart the broadcast before it reaches 12 hours, and retain a local archive. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Understand monetization separately from music permission
Having permission to broadcast a song does not guarantee that a livestream can earn YouTube revenue. YouTube’s monetization policy, updated July 15, 2025, says collections of songs from different artists are not eligible for monetization as reused content even when the creator has permission. It also identifies repetitive or mass-produced content as potentially ineligible. A playlist of Malayalam songs should not be presented as a dependable way to earn ad revenue. Review the current YouTube channel monetization policies for your channel’s circumstances.
For eligible monetized livestreams, ad formats may be enabled, but individual ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Monetization eligibility, rights to broadcast, and whether ads actually appear are separate questions.
