You can stream recorded IIT lectures continuously on YouTube by sending an authorized playlist of recordings from an encoder or cloud service to a YouTube Live stream. First confirm the rights for every recording and embedded asset; then enable live streaming, connect the encoder with the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, preview the feed, and start it. A 24/7 broadcast also needs a plan for monitoring, outages, copyright interruptions, and YouTube’s archive limits.
1. Get permission before broadcasting the lectures
Confirm that you or your organization has permission to rebroadcast each lecture on YouTube, continuously, in the territories where students will watch. Check the lecture itself and everything included in it: slides, music, images, and third-party clips. A video being publicly viewable or used for education does not by itself grant rebroadcast rights. The specific IIT, recordings, and rights holders are not identified here, so permission must be checked for your material.
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services: YouTube Terms of Service.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, a warning to appear, or the broadcast to be interrupted or terminated. Even if a rights holder has licensed its content for your stream, YouTube says the channel may need to be added to that owner’s Content ID allowlist. Resolve that process with the rights holder before going live: YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Permission is not the same as monetization eligibility
YouTube Partner Program review is a separate question from whether you have permission to broadcast. YouTube’s monetization policies require original and authentic content; republishing material from another source with little change may fail reused-content review even when the rights holder has granted permission. The policy update dated July 15, 2025 clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under the inauthentic-content policy. If monetization matters, make your channel’s educational contribution clear rather than relying on a bare loop of recordings: YouTube channel monetization policies and YouTube’s policy update.
2. Choose how to keep the playlist playing
YouTube’s encoder guide describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. The encoder supplies the live feed; YouTube Live distributes it to viewers. These are the main approaches supported by YouTube’s official materials:

| StreamNeo | Cloud service for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube. It runs without a local computer staying on and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. | For an operator who wants continuous playback without maintaining an always-on computer. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot; the first day is free with no card. |
| Software encoder | Software on a computer sends the live feed to YouTube. You must verify that your chosen program supports the repeat or playlist workflow you need. | A smaller operation with a computer that can stay on, a reliable internet connection, and someone to monitor it. |
| Cloud streaming service | YouTube’s encoder directory lists Gyre for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos and Upstream as a cloud studio for 24/7 live video streaming. | For operators who do not want to keep a local computer running. Verify current features, pricing, file limits, uptime terms, and regional availability with the supplier. |
| Dedicated hardware | YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus as a standalone H.264 encoder. Its listing says optional PlayToStream functionality can schedule prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. | For an operation seeking dedicated equipment and unattended scheduling. Compare purchase and operating costs with software or cloud services. |
See YouTube’s encoder directory and the AJA HELO Plus listing. YouTube says verified encoders are not made by YouTube; the directory is a platform listing, not an independent reliability comparison or a promise of uninterrupted service. It does not establish neutral prices, reliability, or regional availability for these options.
Compare the operational costs, not just the entry price
Before choosing software, hardware, or another cloud service, compare total cost—including the computer and its power use where applicable—and check the details that determine whether lectures remain available:

3. Set up the YouTube Live stream
- Enable live streaming and check the channel. Follow YouTube’s live-streaming setup instructions. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Confirm that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction.
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Scheduling provides a watch-page URL to share and can show the event as upcoming to subscribers. Follow YouTube’s streaming setup guide.
- Copy the ingest details into your encoder. From Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s server and key fields. Treat the key like a password; reset it if it is exposed.
- Use RTMPS if supported. RTMPS encrypts RTMP using TLS/SSL. Obtain the RTMPS URL through Live Control Room and select it in the encoder if available. Details are in YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.
- Start the encoder and inspect its preview. Wait for video to appear in Live Control Room. Check both the picture and audio before starting the public broadcast.
- Start the stream in Live Control Room. Once the preview is correct, use the go-live control and confirm that the public watch page plays as expected.
4. Keep the broadcast running and plan for interruptions
A continuous stream is an operational commitment, not just a playlist setting. Assign someone to respond to a dropped connection, encoder failure, damaged or missing source file, or copyright interruption. Monitor the encoder and the public watch page; a local “running” indicator alone does not confirm that students can watch and hear the stream. YouTube recommends continuous monitoring of stream audio and video quality and checking event access through both the channel and watch pages: YouTube’s streaming tips.

Allow bandwidth headroom
YouTube recommends keeping 20% spare upload bandwidth beyond the stream’s needs. This is a recommendation from YouTube Help, not a guarantee against outages. If the connection is shared, variable, or used for other uploads, those activities can consume the headroom. Plan a backup connection or a recovery procedure if students depend on uninterrupted access.
Do not assume one endless event will archive normally
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived when ended. It does not promise automatic archiving for streams that run longer than 12 hours, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. Decide whether to rotate events, preserve source recordings separately, and make the archive accessible to students. YouTube also advises checking archive-file integrity: YouTube’s DVR and stream archive guidance.
