You need an eligible Zoom account and host, and the livestream URL must be public.
Before you start
Check Zoom eligibility
Zoom’s current custom live-streaming guidance lists Pro, Business, Education, and Enterprise accounts, with a licensed Zoom Workplace Meetings host. Custom live streaming must also be enabled by the account administrator, and you must use the Zoom desktop app for Windows or macOS at the current minimum version. Requirements can change, so check Zoom’s current instructions rather than relying on version numbers in older tutorials.
Check your Talk Studio destinations
Stream Forwarding sends the Zoom broadcast to destinations already linked in Talk Studio. Streamlabs says LinkedIn and Twitter are not supported by this feature. Review the destination choices currently available in your account before planning the event; supported services and interface labels may change. See Streamlabs’ Stream Forwarding guidance.
Check your upload connection
Streamlabs recommends a stable connection, preferably Ethernet. Its Getting Started guide gives 5 Mbps upload as a minimum overall, with 5 Mbps required and 10 Mbps recommended for 720p, and 10 Mbps required and 20 Mbps recommended for 1080p. These are Streamlabs’ operating recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection will perform reliably. Check the guide for its current setup advice.

Configure Zoom and Talk Studio
1. Enable Zoom custom live streaming
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal and confirm that custom live streaming is enabled for the account. If you cannot change this setting, ask the Zoom account administrator.
- Schedule or edit the meeting and open its live-streaming settings. Zoom’s general setup flow lets you configure a custom streaming service for the meeting.
- Use Talk Studio’s current forwarding details for the custom service. Zoom requires the live-streaming URL to be public so it can stream to the server.
2. Copy the current forwarding details from Talk Studio
- Open Streamlabs Talk Studio and go to the Stream Forwarding page.
- Copy the current RTMPS forwarding URL, stream key, and live-streaming page URL shown for your account.
- Enter those values in Zoom’s custom live-streaming configuration and save. Do not use credentials copied from a tutorial: the stream key is specific to your account. Streamlabs’ Zoom walkthrough describes this connection.
3. Select destinations in Talk Studio
On Talk Studio’s Stream Forwarding page, select the linked destination or destinations that should receive the broadcast, then save your selection before starting the Zoom stream. A destination being linked in Talk Studio does not necessarily mean it is supported by Stream Forwarding, so check the options presented in your account.
4. Start the custom stream from Zoom
- Start the meeting as its host in the Zoom desktop app.
- Open the meeting’s More or livestream controls and choose the custom live-streaming option. The precise control label can vary with Zoom’s interface.
- Wait for Zoom to connect and confirm that the meeting controls show the stream is live. Check the selected destination’s viewing page as well.
- When the event is over, stop the custom live stream from Zoom.
Fix common connection problems
The custom live-stream option is missing
- Confirm that the account administrator enabled custom live streaming.
- Check that the account and meeting host meet Zoom’s current eligibility requirements and that you are using its desktop app.
- If you are not the administrator, request that they enable the feature or confirm the account’s eligibility.
Zoom cannot connect to Talk Studio
- Re-copy the current forwarding URL and stream key from your Talk Studio account; check for missing characters, extra spaces, or an outdated key.
- Confirm that the streaming URL is public, as required by Zoom, and that the correct values are entered in the custom live-streaming settings.
- Check that your internet connection has sufficient upload capacity and is stable during the broadcast.
The stream starts, but a destination does not receive it
- Return to Talk Studio’s Stream Forwarding page and confirm that the destination is selected and saved.
- Check that the destination is supported by forwarding. Streamlabs identifies LinkedIn and Twitter as unsupported.
- Verify the destination’s own live-stream status and settings; Zoom’s stream being live does not by itself confirm that every selected destination is displaying it.
Video quality or stability is poor
Use a wired connection where practical and compare your available upload speed with Streamlabs’ guidance for the resolution you intend to use. Enable HD Video in Zoom if you need higher video quality; Zoom notes this setting for higher-quality streams. Network conditions and the receiving service can affect the result even when your upload speed meets a recommendation.
