To stream devotional songs as a continuous YouTube Live loop from India, first confirm your channel can go live, clear the rights to both the music and the specific recordings, then send a tested playlist through an encoder such as OBS—or use a hosted service to keep the stream running without a computer at home. A devotional theme does not make a song or recording copyright-free, and a live stream is not automatically eligible for monetization.
Before you set up the stream
Check YouTube Live access
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and have had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Streamers must be at least 16. Check YouTube Studio for access and any restrictions before you schedule a continuous stream: YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
For a prerecorded loop, plan on an encoder workflow rather than assuming a mobile live broadcast is the right production method. An encoder sends the prepared video and audio to YouTube; YouTube’s guide explains the available stream setup and encoder options: Get started with live streaming.
Clear every song and recording
Before building the playlist, identify the rights in both the musical work (composition and lyrics) and the particular sound recording. Permission for one does not necessarily clear the other. Confirm that the relevant rights holders’ permissions or licences cover online live broadcasting from your channel and the intended territory. Keep records of the permissions and the tracks they cover.

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including relevant music rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants, and to meet applicable territory requirements: YouTube Terms of Service. In India, IPRS describes performing rights for musical works and associated lyrics, including making them available by broadcasting and transmission. It is a useful place to ask about musical-work licensing, but do not assume an IPRS licence by itself clears the sound recording or every rightsholder: IPRS licensing. Ask IPRS and the recording owner or other rightsholders what applies to the exact repertoire and use.
- Do not assume that “devotional,” “traditional,” “free download,” or a credit in the description means you have permission.
- If a rights holder uses Content ID, ask them to allowlist your channel for the licensed use. A licence alone may not prevent an automated live interruption.
- Decide whether you want the live stream archived. An archived stream may receive Content ID claims after it ends.

OBS: local encoder control
With a local encoder such as OBS, your computer, network connection and streaming process have to remain available for the broadcast. This route gives you direct control over the encoder and playlist but requires you to operate and monitor the setup. OBS says its software is open-source and free for any use, including commercial use, with no watermark or usage limitations: OBS help.
Neither approach supplies music rights or bypasses YouTube’s copyright checks. Choose based on who will operate the stream, how much control you need, and the service terms and costs you verify directly. Set up a local OBS loop
- Prepare a rights-cleared playlist. Gather the authorized recordings and confirm each permission covers the planned live online use. Use files and artwork you are also entitled to broadcast. Keep a track-by-track record of rightsholders, permissions, territories and any conditions.
- Enable live access and create the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, use the live control room to create or schedule a stream. Choose the appropriate visibility and title, and follow Studio’s current prompts to connect an encoder. Copy the stream key from the live control room; treat it like a password and do not publish or share it. YouTube’s current help provides the setup flow: YouTube live-streaming access and setup.
- Install OBS and add your media. Download OBS from its official site. In a scene, add the video source or sources for the prepared loop and verify that the audio is present, at a sensible level, and synchronized. Arrange the scene to match the output resolution; avoid stretching or cropping artwork unintentionally. For a playlist, use a source or playback workflow that advances reliably through the authorized files and returns to the start. Test the full sequence, including the transition from the last item back to the first, before going live.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the server and stream key provided by YouTube. Prefer RTMPS when configuring a custom server. Never show the key in a screen recording or stream.
- Set sustainable video and audio output. In Settings > Output, use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations and a bitrate your upload connection can sustain. For H.264, YouTube’s current published recommendations include 4 Mbps for 240p–720p at 30 fps, 6 Mbps for 720p at 60 fps, and 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not guarantees of quality on a particular connection; check the current table before configuring: YouTube encoder settings and bitrates.
- Use a constant bitrate and suitable keyframes. YouTube currently recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, with intervals not exceeding four seconds. Its RTMP/RTMPS guidance lists H.264, H.265 and AV1 video and AAC or MP3 audio. Follow the current YouTube table for the selected encoder and format rather than copying values blindly.
- Test before the broadcast. Measure upload capacity, then run a private or unlisted end-to-end test with representative audio, video and playlist transitions. Leave margin below the connection’s variable peak speed. In YouTube Studio, check stream health and notices during the test and broadcast; YouTube recommends preflight testing and ongoing monitoring: YouTube encoder and stream-health guidance.
- Start and supervise the live stream. Start streaming in OBS and confirm that the feed reaches YouTube Studio. Start the broadcast in Studio if the selected workflow requires it. Watch for stream-health warnings, audio loss, a frozen picture, playlist stopping, and copyright notices. A continuous stream still needs an operator able to respond to interruptions.

Copyright, claims and monetization
Live matching can interrupt a licensed broadcast
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A match can produce a warning or placeholder, and continued use may lead to interruption or termination. If you have a licence, YouTube advises asking the content owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist: Copyright issues with live streams. If the stream is archived, Content ID claims may be issued after it ends. Resolve rights and allowlisting before relying on a continuous broadcast.
Creator Music is not a live-loop licence
YouTube states that Creator Music does not support licensing for live content. Its licensing and revenue-sharing terms concern eligible long-form uploads rather than live streams or Shorts, and the cited Creator Music guidance says availability for YouTube Partner Program creators outside the United States is pending. Check current availability and rules, but do not treat a Creator Music track as cleared for a live loop: Creator Music FAQ.
A live loop does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s channel monetization policy expects original and authentic content; repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. Copyright rules apply separately. A technically active devotional loop is not a promise of monetization approval: YouTube channel monetization policies.
Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a live stream: check that the channel is verified, the account meets the age requirement, live streaming is enabled, and Studio shows no restriction that blocks access. Recheck YouTube’s current eligibility page.
- YouTube reports poor stream health or buffering: lower the bitrate or resolution, confirm the encoder is using a stable constant bitrate, and test the upload connection again. Choose settings for dependable sustained upload, not a brief speed-test peak.
- The stream stops or shows a copyright warning: inspect Studio’s notice, identify the matched material, and pause or replace it unless you have the necessary rights. If licensed, contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting; do not assume attribution or a licence without allowlisting prevents a live match.
- There is no sound or audio is out of sync: check the OBS audio source and meters, confirm the correct playback device or media source, and repeat the test with the exact files planned for broadcast.
- The playlist does not return to the beginning: verify the playback or playlist source’s loop behavior and test a full cycle before going live. A scene that looks correct at launch may still fail at the end of the playlist.
- The stream is live but the archive is claimed: live monitoring and archive review are separate; inspect the claim details and resolve it through YouTube’s processes only if you have the rights and supporting documentation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play bhajans on YouTube Live without copyright permission?
Only when the relevant rights are cleared for the specific composition, lyrics and recording, or the material is otherwise legally available for that use. A devotional subject, free download or credit does not establish permission.

No such blanket conclusion follows. Ask IPRS about the musical-work rights it covers and separately confirm the sound recording and other relevant rights with their owners.
