For a scheduled stream, check its preview in Live Control Room and click Go Live if YouTube has not been set to start automatically. Before broadcasting, confirm you have permission for every episode and any music, clips, or guest contributions it contains.
Before you start: check the archive and its rights
Choose the episodes you intend to play and review everything included in them: the podcast recordings, music, clips, and guest material. Confirm that your channel has permission to rebroadcast each item on YouTube Live. The fact that an episode is in your archive does not by itself establish that you have those rights.
If permission is unclear, resolve it before scheduling or going live. YouTube’s guidance on copyright and live streams is available in its live streaming help.
Create or schedule the YouTube Live broadcast

In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.

For an unscheduled broadcast, create a stream from the Stream tab. To prepare in advance, schedule the broadcast through Manage. Scheduling gives you time to promote the event and lets viewers set reminders.

Enter an accurate title and description, then choose the category, thumbnail, and privacy setting. YouTube offers Public, Unlisted, and Private: choose public for broad discovery, unlisted for people with the link, or private for restricted access.

Choose latency and DVR settings for the way viewers will watch. Lower latency can make interaction more immediate, but YouTube warns that it may increase buffering. DVR allows viewers to pause and rewind during the live broadcast. Consider whether interaction or rewind matters more for this archive session.
Connect OBS to YouTube with the stream key

In YouTube Live Control Room, open the broadcast details and locate the stream’s server URL and stream key.

In OBS, open the streaming settings and select the YouTube service or integration if it is available. Otherwise, paste YouTube’s server URL into OBS’s server field and the stream key into its Stream Key field. OBS labels can vary by version.

Keep the stream key private: it functions like a password for sending a feed to your broadcast. Do not share it or publish a screenshot that reveals it.

Set up OBS to play the selected archive material and start sending the feed. The appropriate output resolution and bitrate depend on the source files and your computer and network; those details were not specified here, so use settings that suit your actual setup rather than assuming one bitrate or resolution fits every archive.

Preview the feed and start the broadcast
Starting the feed in OBS sends video to YouTube; it does not always make a scheduled broadcast publicly live by itself. Watch for the preview in Live Control Room. If the stream is scheduled and auto-start is not enabled, select Go Live there when the preview is ready. Confirm the broadcast’s visibility and that the intended archive is playing before sharing the link.
End the stream and check the replay
When the archive session is over, stop sending from OBS and end the broadcast through YouTube Studio when needed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and appear in Studio’s Live tab. If an automatic replay matters, plan a broadcast shorter than that threshold; do not assume a longer stream will be archived automatically.
Troubleshooting common issues

YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Check that OBS has the correct server URL and stream key for this broadcast, and that OBS is sending. If the key was exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS. YouTube says only channel owners or managers can reset a stream key.

The scheduled event has a preview but is not publicly live: A feed reaching YouTube and a broadcast being live are separate states in some scheduled configurations. In Live Control Room, select Go Live if auto-start is not enabled.

Viewers report buffering: Lower latency can increase buffering. Reconsider the latency setting if a steady viewing experience matters more than near-real-time interaction.

Viewers cannot pause or rewind: Check whether DVR is enabled for the broadcast. DVR is the setting that gives viewers pause and rewind controls during a live stream.

The replay is missing after a long broadcast: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours. For a replay, keep the stream below that duration and check Studio’s Live tab afterward.
