Prepare your channel and recording
Make sure YouTube Live is available
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s general live-stream guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 for streamers. Check eligibility and enable Live before scheduling a broadcast, rather than discovering a restriction when you are ready to go live.
Use media you have permission to broadcast

Set up the dedicated hardware route
- Enable YouTube Live and open Live Control Room. Create or schedule the broadcast there, then use its ingest details. YouTube’s encoder setup workflow uses a stream URL and stream key copied into the encoder.
- Configure the encoder’s YouTube connection. Enter the ingest URL and stream key in the device’s supported settings. Keep the key private; regenerate it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Configure the prerecorded playback schedule. YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus and its PlayToStream feature for scheduled prerecorded media sent directly to YouTube Live without a computer. Follow the device’s current documentation for media preparation and scheduling; confirm compatibility before purchase.

Plan the broadcast and its archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one archive will cover an indefinite 24/7 broadcast. Decide how you will end, restart, or rotate broadcasts and review archives, especially if the stream is meant to remain available as video after it ends. YouTube’s encoder workflow also involves starting and stopping the feed through the encoder and Live Control Room.
Before promotion, test privately or unlisted. Check the audio level, loop transition, public-facing title and description, privacy setting, chat and moderation plan, and the result on a viewer-facing device. This catches practical problems without suggesting that any specific setup has been tested here.

Common problems and fixes
- You cannot start a live stream: confirm channel verification, Live eligibility, and whether first-time enablement is still pending. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
- The stream does not appear or connect: check that the current YouTube stream URL and key are entered in the cloud service or encoder, and that you started the feed in the relevant service and Live Control Room. If a key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder configuration.
- The recording plays once instead of looping: verify that the source is configured as a loop or playlist in the playback service or supported device feature. The native webcam workflow is not documented as an unattended loop player.
- Viewers hear silence, clipping, or a disruptive transition: inspect the source recording and test the complete loop privately or unlisted. Adjust the recording or playback setup, then check the viewer output again.
- The stream stops or the archive is incomplete: distinguish a dropped encoder feed from YouTube archive behavior. Review the service or device status and Live Control Room; plan broadcast rotation rather than relying on a single indefinitely running archive.
