Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFirst identify where the silence occurs: between separate tracks, inside the recording, or at the point where one file loops back to its beginning. Each has a different fix. In Spotify, turn on Gapless playback for pauses between tracks; for silence or an abrupt join inside a looping file, edit the audio or choose a loop segment that avoids it.
Find out where the gap comes from
Listen to the transition and, if possible, inspect the source recording around it. Is the silence between two tracks, audible within one track, or only at the end-to-start boundary when a recording repeats? A player setting can address a pause the player adds between tracks, but it cannot remove silence already present in the audio file.
- Between separate tracks: Try the player’s gapless playback setting.
- Within one recording: Check whether the quiet is part of the source.
- At a single-file loop point: Inspect the file’s beginning and end; the join may need editing or a different loop range.
There is no universal setting that guarantees seamless playback across every app, device, speaker, or casting route.
Fix gaps between Spotify tracks
Spotify’s Transitions between tracks support page describes Gapless playback as removing gaps or pauses between tracks. Open Spotify’s Playback settings and enable Gapless playback. Spotify’s support instructions describe settings paths for mobile/tablet and desktop; labels or availability may change.

Choose between gapless playback and crossfade
Gapless playback removes a player-added pause while preserving the boundary between tracks. Crossfade instead overlaps the outgoing and incoming tracks, fading one down as the next fades up. Leave Crossfade off or at zero if you want no overlap; try a modest crossfade only if a blended transition suits the meditation audio. It can overlap speech or ambience and changes the original transition.
Spotify says these transition controls cannot be set when using Spotify Connect. If practical, switch to local playback, check the setting there, and then listen again. This does not establish that every Connect route will behave identically.

Check repeat mode separately
Repeat controls what plays again; it does not itself remove a pause between tracks or edit silence out of a file. Spotify’s Set Repeat Mode API reference distinguishes repeating the current track from repeating the current context. Its endpoint requires Premium. That API detail does not mean you need to use the API to change ordinary playback settings.
Fix silence in a recording or at its loop point
If the pause remains with gapless playback enabled—or you are repeating one file—inspect the source near the transition. Some recordings begin or end with quiet that is part of the file, rather than a pause inserted by the player.

Trim only silence you do not want
In Audacity, select unwanted leading or trailing silence and delete it, then listen to the edit and the loop point. Its Creating a Crossfade guidance notes that tracks can begin or end with short silence and describes selecting and deleting it. Do not trim breathing room, meditation pauses, or soft ambience merely because they are quiet; those may be intentional parts of the session.
Soften an abrupt join with a crossfade
If the end-to-start join clicks or sounds abrupt, blend the ending into the beginning with a crossfade and audition the loop repeatedly. Audacity describes a crossfade as a way to produce a smooth transition between audio sections in its Crossfade Clips guidance. A crossfade overlaps audio: it can smooth the join, but it changes the timing and texture rather than preserving a strict, non-overlapping boundary. Check that the overlap does not blur a spoken instruction or create an unwanted swell.

Use a selected loop range when appropriate
VLC for Android 3.5 documents A-B repeat: set a start point and an end point to repeat that portion of the audio. See VideoLAN’s Audio Player documentation. A selected range can avoid an awkward section at the file’s edges, but the documentation does not promise that every A-B loop will be seamless.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. For a batch workflow, detect silence carefully
FFmpeg documents silencedetect for locating quiet regions and silenceremove for removing qualifying silence at the beginning, middle, or end of audio. See the FFmpeg filters documentation for the filter options. Set thresholds with care and review the output: a quiet meditation passage can be mistaken for silence and removed. Detection or automatic trimming is not a substitute for listening to the finished loop.

Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you hear | Likely place to check | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| A pause only when one Spotify track changes to another | Spotify’s transition settings | Enable Gapless playback. Keep Crossfade off for a non-overlapping boundary. |
| The pause remains while repeating a single file | The file’s start, end, or loop point | Inspect and, if appropriate, trim unintended silence or edit the join with a crossfade. |
| The transition controls cannot be set while using Spotify Connect | The playback route | Switch to local playback if practical, then check the controls in Playback settings. |
| A crossfade makes words or ambience sound wrong | The overlap | Turn Crossfade off or reduce it; use gapless playback for separate tracks, or edit the single-file boundary carefully. |
| An automatic silence-removal edit cuts a quiet passage | The filter threshold and the source audio | Undo the edit, adjust the threshold, and listen through the affected section before exporting. |
