If your Switchboard Live broadcast ends when the playlist reaches its last item, first check whether the encoder or playlist app has stopped sending video. Switchboard receives video from your encoder and manages its destinations; the repeat or continuous-play control, if available, depends on the app supplying the playlist. Switchboard’s documentation does not identify a universal playlist-loop setting.
Find out which part of the stream stopped
Switchboard describes its Encoder Workflow Pane as the place to connect streaming software, choose an ingest protocol, and monitor the incoming feed. Its confidence monitor shows the video currently received from the encoder. Destination controls are separate: they start or stop broadcasting to a particular destination.
After the playlist reaches its final item, check the confidence monitor and destination status. This separates two different problems:
- No video is arriving in Switchboard: The encoder or playlist app may have finished playback and stopped its output. Look for that app’s loop, repeat, or continuous-play option, or consult its documentation for your version.
- Video is still arriving, but a destination stopped: Check that destination’s status and controls in Switchboard. Switchboard documents Start and Stop controls for destination broadcasts; those controls do not repeat playlist items.
Switchboard documents RTMP, RTMPS, and SRT as ingest protocol options. Choosing a different protocol changes how the encoder connects; its documentation does not describe protocol choice as a way to loop a playlist.

Check the encoder or playlist app
- Identify the app sending video to Switchboard. This may be a streaming encoder or another app that plays the playlist. Note its name and version; the exact menu path depends on that software.
- Check whether the final item ends playback or output. Observe Switchboard’s confidence monitor as the playlist finishes. If incoming video disappears at that point, troubleshoot playback or output in the encoder app.
- Look for a repeat or continuous-play setting in that app. Enable it if the app supports it and configure the playlist to restart after the last item. The location and behavior of this option are application-specific; Switchboard’s documentation does not establish a shared menu path.
- Test the end of the playlist. Confirm that the encoder continues sending video and that the intended destination remains live. If playback repeats but the output still ends, consult the encoder’s documentation or support for the version in use.
Check Switchboard’s destination controls
If the confidence monitor continues to show incoming video after the final playlist item, inspect the affected destination’s broadcast status. Switchboard’s workflow documentation says its destination Stop control ends the broadcast to that destination. Destination Details also documents Start Now and Stop Now controls. These are broadcast controls, not playlist-repeat settings.
Switchboard’s Auto-Start toggle is described as automatically starting all destinations in a Stream Group when the encoder connects. It does not mean the playlist repeats, and the documentation does not say it keeps a destination live after the encoder stops sending video. The product page also describes Auto Start Destinations as starting destinations when streaming software or an encoder starts. It labels Scheduled Start/Stop as “Coming Soon” on the page; availability may change.

When you need an app-specific answer
The exact repeat setting cannot be determined without knowing which encoder or playlist application you use. If you ask the app’s support team, include its name and version, the ingest protocol selected in Switchboard, and whether the confidence monitor still shows video after the last playlist item. Also say whether every destination stopped or only one. That information helps distinguish playback ending from a destination broadcast stopping.
