If the trigger is time-based, also verify the phone’s date, time, and time zone.
Find the routine that is causing the unexpected change
- Open Settings > Modes and Routines > Routines.
- Find the routine associated with the behavior and open it, then tap Edit.
- If you do not see that path, search Settings for Modes and Routines or Bixby Routines. Samsung says availability and menu paths vary by device and software version. Samsung’s US guide to Modes and Routines and its UK guide to Routines document different paths across Galaxy software versions.
Samsung describes a routine as running automatically when its set conditions are met. Its If conditions determine when it starts; its Then actions determine what the phone does. Inspect the conditions first rather than changing actions that only control the resulting behavior.
Correct the trigger or stop the routine
If it should run, but under different conditions
Review each condition in the routine’s If section. Depending on how the routine was set up, a condition may involve a clock time or day, location, device state, app use, or another trigger. Change the condition or schedule that does not match your intent, then save the routine. Samsung’s editing instructions cover the routine setup and editing flow.
If it should not run at all
Use the routine’s available disable or delete control. The label and location can differ between software versions, so check the routine’s edit or options screen rather than assuming every Galaxy has the same control.

Check whether a mode—not a routine—is active
Modes and routines are separate features. If the behavior appears to be caused by a routine but you cannot identify it in the Routines list, check the Quick panel for a routine notification or look for an active mode in the lock-screen Now bar. Samsung’s UK support guide describes these ways to check what is active.
Verify the clock if the routine depends on time
- Open Settings > General management > Date and time.
- Check Automatic date and time. If the phone is using an unexpected time zone, check Set time zone based on location, when available and appropriate.
- Return to the routine and confirm that its time and day conditions match the schedule you want.
An inaccurate phone clock or time zone is a troubleshooting possibility when a routine has a time-based trigger, not proof that the routine itself is faulty. Samsung notes that automatic time updates can be affected by carrier problems, travel between time zones, or being offline. See Samsung’s date and time troubleshooting guidance.

Account for Galaxy software differences
Samsung UK documents Settings > Modes and Routines for Android 13 and 14, and the Bixby Routines app for Android 11 and 12. These are common documented paths, not a guarantee that every model or region uses identical labels; Samsung says feature availability depends on the device and software version. If the path differs, search Settings for either feature name.
