You can use FFmpeg to send an authorized Indian music playlist to YouTube continuously, but FFmpeg alone does not make a stream 24/7. The computer or server running it, the network connection, YouTube’s live-stream eligibility rules, and your rights to broadcast every track all matter. This guide walks through the setup, explains the settings to adapt, and covers recovery and common failure points.
Before you start
FFmpeg is the media engine: it reads media, optionally loops and encodes it, then sends the output to a platform’s ingest endpoint. A 24/7 stream also needs a host that stays on, a stable network, a private stream key, and a way to monitor and restart the process. FFmpeg documentation describes the workflow, but does not establish a minimum computer specification or guarantee continuous availability (FFmpeg documentation).
- Media: Prepare the audio files or playlist you intend to broadcast. Confirm that their formats and parameters work together; mismatched files may require transcoding rather than stream copy.
- Video: YouTube live streams are video streams. If the music files contain no video, provide a suitable visual source, such as a still image, and map it with the audio.
- Host and connection: Keep the computer or server, FFmpeg process, and network connection available for the entire broadcast. The cited documentation does not specify a universal bandwidth or hardware minimum.
- YouTube access: YouTube’s getting-started guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days to enable live streaming. Check the current status and instructions in your own YouTube Studio account because platform requirements can change (YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming).
- Rights: Clear every track for the specific live use, territories, duration, monetization, and any archived playback you plan to enable.
Clear the music rights first
YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to have the necessary rights for the live content throughout the relevant territories, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other participants (YouTube livestream terms). The exact permissions depend on the rights and territories actually cleared; this is not a determination of Indian or other local legal requirements.
Owning a downloaded song, crediting its creator, or having a general royalty-free license does not by itself establish permission for a continuous livestream. Check whether the license specifically covers live broadcasting, territory, duration, monetization, and archived playback. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may replace or interrupt a stream; if the content remains, it may terminate the stream. Even a licensed track may require the rights owner to allowlist your channel for YouTube’s systems (YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams).

YouTube says Creator Music does not support licensing for live content. It suggests original music, tracks from the Audio Library, or third-party music whose license terms you have checked for the intended use. Do not assume that a track marked “free” is cleared for continuous live broadcasting (YouTube Help: Creator Music FAQ).
Get the YouTube ingest details
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream using YouTube’s current live-streaming workflow.
- In the stream settings, find the server or ingest URL and the stream key. Exact labels and locations can change in Studio; use the values shown for your stream.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel. Do not put it in a public script, screenshot, or shared log.
- Choose the intended stream settings in YouTube Studio and note the video and audio formats your output must meet. FFmpeg options depend on your media, visual source, and platform settings, so there is no single command that is right for every playlist.
Build and run the FFmpeg workflow
At a high level, the command needs to read a playlist or media input, supply both video and audio, select whether to copy compatible streams or encode them, mux the output for the ingest protocol, and send it to YouTube’s server URL using your private stream key. FFmpeg’s documentation covers streaming outputs and RTMP; consult it for the options supported by your installed version (FFmpeg documentation).
Choose loop behavior deliberately
FFmpeg’s -stream_loop option repeats an input. It addresses playback repetition; it does not restart a failed connection, keep a host awake, restore a crashed process, or ensure YouTube accepts the output. A single looped file is simple to manage, while a maintained playlist lets you change the sequence, but either approach depends on valid inputs and a running process.

Choose stream copy or encoding based on the inputs
Stream copy avoids re-encoding when the source streams are compatible with the destination and with the rest of the output. If formats, codecs, parameters, or the need to combine separate audio and video do not fit, configure encoding and mapping accordingly. Check the output against YouTube’s current stream settings and test the actual playlist before relying on it for an extended broadcast. The cited manuals do not establish one universally correct resolution, bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, or codec setting for every input and channel.

Supply the ingest URL and key through a secure method appropriate to your operating system and process manager rather than publishing them in a script. Confirm that the stream reaches YouTube, that audio and video are both present, and that the playlist transitions and loop behave as intended. A test can reveal configuration errors, but it cannot prove 24/7 reliability.
Keep the process running and recover from failures
Do not confuse input looping with network recovery. FFmpeg’s protocol manual documents automatic reconnect options for certain network protocols, and its full options documentation includes an RTMP/FIFO example for recovering from output failures. Those mechanisms are protocol-specific; reconnecting an output does not guarantee that YouTube will preserve or recreate the same live session in every circumstance (FFmpeg protocol documentation; FFmpeg all-options documentation).

For a self-managed stream, use a process supervisor or equivalent restart mechanism, retain logs, check stream health, and test what happens when the network or ingest connection drops. Make sure the recovery procedure can restart the process with the correct playlist and private key without exposing the key. These measures reduce manual work, but they cannot make the host, internet connection, or platform infallible.

What continuous streaming costs and what it requires
A local computer or rented server must remain available to run FFmpeg, and you manage the operating system, process recovery, storage, and network yourself. The sources cited here do not establish a particular hardware model, bandwidth requirement, or energy cost. If you need a local always-on host, treat a mini PC only as one possible category to investigate, not as a verified required specification.
Another option is a cloud service that runs the prepared video stream instead of relying on your computer at home. Compare any service’s price, supported quality, recovery behavior, and content limitations against your own workflow, and keep music-rights clearance separate from the streaming tool.
