Don’t click the sender’s links or use contact details they provide; verify through Ledger’s official channels that you reach independently.
How do I know if Ledger Support is real?
Check the channel, what the sender asks you to do, and whether you initiated the conversation. Ledger’s phishing guidance says unsolicited Ledger texts, phone calls, WhatsApp or Telegram messages, postal letters, and social-media direct messages are warning signs. A familiar logo, display name, or polished message does not establish that the sender is genuine.
- Channel: Be wary of unexpected contact claiming to be Ledger, especially by text or phone. Ledger says it will not contact users through those channels.
- Request: A request for your recovery phrase or PIN is fraudulent. So is a request to approve a transaction you did not initiate; reject an unexpected transaction on your Ledger device.
- Contact history: Ledger says genuine support interactions should take place through its official support channels. If you did not start the conversation, don’t continue through the sender’s account or link.
To check a concern, type Ledger’s official website address yourself or use a trusted bookmark, then navigate to support from there. Do not use a link, phone number, or other contact information supplied by the suspicious message.
What are common Ledger phishing warning signs?
Requests for your recovery phrase or PIN
Your 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase controls access to your crypto assets. Ledger says neither the company nor Ledger Support will ask you to disclose it. Never share the words or type them into a computer, app, or website. Ledger’s guidance says to enter the phrase only directly on your Ledger device when the device itself requires it.

Urgent verification or deactivation threats
Messages may claim that you must “verify now,” “secure” your account, or complete an identity check to prevent a device from being disabled. Ledger says it cannot deactivate a device; a threat that it will block yours is a warning sign, not a reason to rush.
Unexpected transaction approvals
Do not approve a transaction on your device unless you initiated it and understand what it does. If an unfamiliar approval request appears, reject it on the device rather than following instructions from the sender.

Look-alike sites and fake apps
Check domain names carefully for subtle misspellings, and be cautious of websites or apps presented as Ledger Wallet outside independently reached official channels. A fake error screen may try to persuade you to enter your recovery phrase. Close it; do not enter the words.
Does Ledger ever call or text you?
Ledger says it will not contact users by text message or phone. Treat an unexpected call or text claiming to be from Ledger as suspicious: don’t share information, follow instructions, or call back using a number in the message. Block the sender and report the communication as spam. Ledger also identifies WhatsApp, Telegram, and postal letters as channels to assume are phishing when they purport to be from Ledger.

How can I verify a Ledger email?
Ledger’s phishing page lists @ledger.com, @ledgerwallet.com, and @ledger.zendesk.com among its authentic email domains. Check the actual sender address rather than relying on the display name, which can be misleading, and compare it with Ledger’s current list on its official phishing page. Domain and account information can change, so the live official page is the reference point.
Even an email from a listed domain should not be treated as permission to reveal your recovery phrase: Ledger says support will never ask for it. If anything feels wrong, stop and reach support by navigating to Ledger’s official site independently.

What should I do with a suspicious Ledger message?
- Stop engaging. Don’t click links, open attachments, call a number in the message, reply with personal information, or approve an unexpected transaction.
- Verify independently. Navigate to Ledger’s official website yourself and find its support options there. Do not use the suspicious sender’s contact details.
- Report it. Ledger directs people to report impersonation through the dedicated phishing route linked from its phishing guidance. Report purported Ledger texts and calls as spam and block the sender.
- Preserve useful evidence. Keep the message or sender details if needed to report it, but don’t forward it to other people or interact with its links.
What should I do if I shared my Ledger recovery phrase?
Assume that anyone who has your recovery phrase may be able to access assets controlled by it. Reporting the message does not secure the phrase. Prioritize protecting any remaining assets, and follow Ledger Support’s current recovery-phrase change instructions through a page you reached independently.
- Move remaining assets. Ledger Support advises moving remaining crypto assets to a temporary account you control.
- Reduce the chance of reusing an exposed account. The guide advises removing or renaming emptied old accounts to help avoid accidental reuse.
- Create a new recovery phrase. Reset the device and set it up as new to generate a new phrase. Follow the guide’s sequence, including its recommendation to update device software.
- Create new accounts and transfer assets back. Set up accounts under the new phrase, then move assets from the temporary account to those new accounts.
The exact interface depends on your Ledger device, and the linked guide is in Chinese. Use the current instructions for your device and region, reached through Ledger’s official site. If you are unsure how to move assets safely, seek help through independently reached official support; never give support staff your recovery phrase.

How should I store the recovery phrase?
Keep the phrase private and offline; do not store it in a computer, app, or website. Ledger Support suggests considering secure seed-phrase storage solutions. An offline backup plate is one possible storage format, but it does not detect phishing or make it safe to disclose the words. Whatever you use, the central rule remains: no person or online service claiming to be Ledger should receive your phrase.
