Do not trust an unexpected Revolut text, email, call or link until you verify it inside the Revolut app. Revolut says it will never ask you to make a payment or disclose a verification or security code over the phone, and it will not call without booking and confirming the call in advance. Support calls that are genuine appear directly in the app. If a message asks for money or codes, creates urgency, or prevents independent verification, stop engaging and use in-app Support chat.
This guide shows how to distinguish a genuine contact from a phishing attempt, report it safely, and contain damage if you clicked, disclosed information or sent money.
What Revolut phishing looks like
Phishing is a social-engineering attempt to make you reveal credentials, security codes, card details or money. The criminal may copy Revolut’s name, logo, writing style or support language. A message can arrive by SMS, email, phone call or chat. The channel alone does not prove that it is genuine.

- What is the contact asking you to do? Requests for a payment, a verification code, a passcode, a PIN or a password are major warning signs.
- Can you verify it independently? Open the Revolut app yourself and ask through Support chat. Do not use a link, phone number or reply address supplied by the suspicious contact.
Revolut’s own warning is explicit: “Revolut will never ask you to make any payments or ask you to share any verification or security codes over the phone, or call you without booking the call and confirming it with you in advance.”

Genuine contact versus a phishing attempt
Check every axis in the table instead of relying on one visual clue. A convincing logo or an apparently familiar sender can still be fraudulent.

Inspect the sender without interacting
Email addresses
Read the complete sender address, not just the display name. Revolut gives @revolut.com as an expected pattern and contrasts it with a lookalike such as revolut@gmail.com. Watch for substituted letters, added words, unusual subdomains and punctuation that makes a familiar name appear in a different domain.
Do not reply to test the sender. A reply confirms that your address is active and keeps the conversation under the scammer’s control. Instead, open the Revolut app independently and ask Support whether the email is legitimate.
Text messages
SMS sender names can be spoofed or placed in the same conversation thread as real messages. Treat the sender label as unverified. Do not use a number, short code or link from the message as proof of authenticity. Save the text for your records, then verify through the app.
Phone calls
An unexpected call claiming to be Revolut support is not a normal support route. Revolut says it will not call without booking and confirming the call in advance. Legitimate support calls are carried out directly within the Revolut app, where the call details should be visible. As Revolut states, “Support calls from us are carried out directly within the Revolut app, which criminals can’t replicate.”

End an unverified call. Do not read out a code, approve a transfer, install software, share your screen or follow instructions while on the line. Open the app yourself and use Support chat to ask about the call.
Handle links and urgency safely
Revolut advises customers to stay vigilant, avoid unsolicited links, type URLs directly and never share PINs, passwords or passcodes by phone or chat. A message that says your account will be closed, a transfer will be lost or a refund will expire unless you act immediately is using pressure to bypass your normal checks.

- Stop at the message. Do not tap its link, open its attachment or scan its QR code.
- Do not copy the link into another service for “checking.” The link itself may contain tracking or a malicious destination.
- Open the Revolut app from your normal device shortcut, not from the message.
- Use in-app Support chat to ask whether the contact or requested action is real.
- If you need a website, type the known address yourself rather than following the unsolicited link.
If you clicked but did not enter information, close the page and do not continue the conversation. If you entered credentials or approved an action, follow the containment steps below immediately.
How to report a suspicious Revolut message safely
1. Stop contact before reporting
Do not click, reply, pay or disclose information while the sender is unverified. Blocking the sender can stop further messages, but preserve enough information for your own records first. Do not forward the suspicious link or attachment to friends or colleagues; forwarding can expose them to the same threat.
2. Verify through in-app Support chat
- Open the Revolut app directly.
- Open the in-app Support chat.
- Describe the channel (SMS, email, call or chat), the date and time, the displayed sender and what the person requested.
- Ask Support whether the contact is legitimate and follow the safety instructions provided in the chat.
The official guidance does not identify a separate public email address for reporting a suspicious message. In-app Support chat is the verification and reporting route described for this situation.

3. Report a fraudulent transaction
If money has already moved or a transaction appears fraudulent, use the transaction-reporting flow in the app:

- Open Home.
- Select the relevant transaction.
- Choose Get help.
- Select the reporting option that best matches what happened.
Record the transaction date, amount, recipient details and any related message so you can answer Support’s questions accurately. The exact labels or availability can vary by country and app version.
4. Keep evidence safely
Keep the original message, sender address or number, timestamps, screenshots and transaction information for your own records. Do not alter the message in a way that removes the sender details. Do not forward links or attachments to collect evidence; screenshots and copied text are safer than redistributing the live content.
If you clicked, disclosed information or sent money
Act as though the account or card may be exposed. Speed matters, but do not let a caller rush you into another unsafe action.
- Stop communication. End the call or chat and do not respond to follow-up messages.
- Freeze the card. In the Revolut app, use the card icon to freeze the affected card. Revolut also describes termination as an alternative when appropriate.
- Contact Support in-app. Explain exactly what you clicked, disclosed or approved, and when it happened.
- Report the transaction. Go to Home, select the transaction, choose Get help and select the relevant option.
- Change the Revolut passcode if account access may be compromised. Do this promptly through the app.
- Report to police if possible. Keep the police report number because Revolut’s fraud team may request it.
Do not assume that a successful login or a frozen card proves the problem is over. Tell Support whether the attacker saw a passcode, verification code, card number, personal information or a transaction approval. Those details help the specialist team secure the account and assess the incident.

What happens after you report
Revolut says its specialist fraud team will secure the account and review the case. The review includes whether funds can be recovered and whether reimbursement may apply. Recovery is not guaranteed; the outcome depends on the facts of the case and the investigation.
The team may request additional information, including a police report number. Follow-up and case status can be tracked in in-app chat, so keep that conversation available and answer requests there rather than returning to the suspicious contact.

An email says your account needs urgent verification
Do not click the verification button or reply. Check the full sender address, save the message, open the app and ask Support about it. If you entered a password or passcode, change the Revolut passcode and report the incident as an account-access concern.
An SMS contains a payment or refund link
Do not tap the link or call the number in the text. Open the app and check Home for any matching transaction. If there is a fraudulent transaction, use Get help from that transaction; if there is no transaction, ask Support to verify the message.

End the call unless you booked it and can see its details inside the app. Never read out a verification or security code, make a payment, disclose a PIN or password, or follow a caller’s instructions to move money. Verify the call through in-app Support chat.

You approved a transfer because the caller pressured you
Stop communicating, freeze the card if it is involved, report the transaction through Home → transaction → Get help, contact in-app Support and report to police if possible. State that the transaction resulted from a suspected phishing or social-engineering contact and provide the preserved message details.
Warning signs people commonly overlook
- A familiar display name: Display names are easy to copy; the full address and independent verification matter.
- A real-looking support script: Professional wording does not prove identity.
- A correct personal detail: Attackers may know information from other sources. Never treat one matching detail as authentication.
- A caller who knows your recent activity: Do not disclose additional information to “confirm” the account. End the call and check in-app.
- A message inside an existing thread: SMS and email systems can group spoofed content with legitimate messages.
- A request to keep the conversation secret: Secrecy prevents you from independently checking the claim and is a strong reason to stop.
A practical decision checklist
Use this short sequence whenever a Revolut contact appears unexpectedly:
- Was the contact unexpected? Treat it as unverified.
- Does it request money, a code, a PIN, password or passcode? Do not provide anything.
- Does the sender address contain a typo, lookalike domain or unusual format? Do not interact.
- Is it a phone call that was not booked and confirmed? End it.
- Does it pressure you to click, disclose information or act immediately? Stop.
- Can you verify the claim in the Revolut app? Use in-app Support chat.
- Is there a fraudulent transaction? Report it from Home → transaction → Get help.
- Did you click, disclose information or approve a payment? Freeze the card if relevant, change the passcode when account access may be exposed, contact Support and report to police if possible.
App labels and availability
The navigation labels in this guide—Home, the transaction screen, Get help, the card icon and in-app Support chat—reflect Revolut’s documented flows. Labels, menu placement and feature availability can vary by country and app version. If a label is different, use the closest transaction-help or Support option in the official app and describe what happened there.
Revolut’s core safety rules do not depend on a particular screen design: do not send money or security codes to an unsolicited contact, do not follow unverified links, and verify support through the app you opened yourself.
