Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo repeat one video as part of a YouTube livestream, set VLC to repeat the current item, then send VLC’s playback to YouTube through an encoder configured with your stream URL and stream key. For a playlist, use repeat-all instead. VLC’s repeat control only loops the source; it does not connect to YouTube or start the broadcast.
Choose the right VLC repeat mode
VLC distinguishes between repeating the selected item and repeating an entire playlist. VideoLAN’s playlist API represents these as separate modes: repeat-current and repeat-all.
- One video: Select repeat-current so the same item starts again when it ends.
- Several videos: Put the clips in the desired order and select repeat-all to cycle through the playlist.
VLC’s menu labels and controls can vary by version and operating system. Confirm the repeat mode shown in your VLC build rather than relying on a universal menu path or keyboard shortcut.
Set up VLC playback and connect it to YouTube Live
- Open your source in VLC. Load the video you want to repeat. For multiple clips, create or open the playlist and arrange the items in playback order.
- Enable the matching repeat mode. Choose repeat-current for one clip or repeat-all for a playlist, then confirm that the mode is active in your VLC version.
- Create or select a livestream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create a stream or select the one you intend to use. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe this workflow.
- Configure the encoder. Copy the Stream URL and stream key from the Live Control Room into the corresponding server and key fields in your encoder. A stream key is a credential—YouTube describes stream keys as a password and address for your stream—so keep it private. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
- Start the encoder and complete YouTube’s preview/go-live sequence. Confirm that the expected VLC video appears in the preview before proceeding. To finish, stop the encoder feed and end the broadcast in the Live Control Room as directed by YouTube.
VLC handles playback and repetition; a separate encoder handles the connection to YouTube. The exact encoder controls depend on the encoder you choose.

Set the connection and video quality carefully
Prefer RTMPS when your encoder supports it
YouTube recommends RTMPS, the encrypted extension to RTMP. Use the exact RTMPS URL shown in the Live Control Room and confirm that your encoder supports the protocol. If you see connection or SSL errors, check both the URL and the encoder’s RTMPS support. Read YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.
Match quality settings to your encoder and upload connection
Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate based on what your encoder can produce and what your available upload connection can sustain. YouTube publishes recommendations by resolution and frame rate in its live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guide; there is no single bitrate that suits every setup. Test the complete source-to-YouTube path in advance and monitor stream health during the broadcast.

- VLC for Kindle plays most local video and audio files, as well as network streams (including adaptive streaming), like the desktop version of VLC.
- VLC for Kindle has a media library for audio and video files, and allows to browse folders directly.
- VLC has support for multi-track audio and subtitles. It supports auto-rotation, aspect-ratio adjustments, hardware acceleration and gestures to control volume.
- It also includes a widget for audio control, supports audio headsets control, cover art and a complete audio media library.
Test before you rely on the stream
- Check that the correct VLC item or playlist is playing and that the chosen repeat mode is active.
- Verify the video appears in YouTube’s preview after the encoder connects.
- Review YouTube’s stream-health indicators and adjust encoder settings if the connection or video quality is unstable.
- Confirm you can stop the encoder feed and end the broadcast correctly in the Live Control Room.
YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health. A repeat setting alone cannot confirm that the encoder, internet connection, and YouTube ingestion are working together.
Common problems and fixes
The video plays once and stops
Repeat may be off, or the wrong repeat mode may be selected. For one clip, activate repeat-current; for a playlist, use repeat-all. Check the active state in your version of VLC.

The video loops in VLC, but YouTube is not live
Repeating playback does not establish a livestream. Confirm that the encoder is running and has the current Stream URL and stream key from the Live Control Room, then follow YouTube’s preview/go-live sequence.
The encoder cannot connect or reports an SSL error
Check that you copied the current URL correctly, selected the matching protocol, and that your encoder supports RTMPS if you are using an RTMPS address. YouTube documents protocol and SSL troubleshooting in its RTMPS help page.

The stream connects but has poor or unstable quality
Review stream health and compare your encoder’s resolution, frame rate, and bitrate with YouTube’s settings recommendations and your upload capacity. Test again after changing settings.
You meant to loop a video while watching, not while broadcasting
YouTube’s player has a viewer-side Loop control for repeating a video or playlist. That is separate from VLC’s playback repeat mode and does not configure a source for a livestream. See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos or playlists on a computer.
