To set up YouTube Shopping, first decide whether you want to feature products from your own store or tag products from other brands. For your store, qualify for Shopping and connect a supported retailer in YouTube Studio. For other brands, qualify for and enroll in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program. Then tag relevant products in your videos, Shorts, or live streams.
Choose the right YouTube Shopping route

The two routes have different eligibility rules. If you do not see Shopping in YouTube Studio, check your channel’s eligibility before troubleshooting the setup.
Connect your own store
- Set up your store with a platform or retailer supported by YouTube.
- On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Open Earn, then Shopping.
- If you are eligible and have not connected a store, select Get Started. To add another store, choose Connect new store.
- Follow the on-screen steps to link your store.
Shopify is one documented setup route: Shopify directs creators to its Google & YouTube app and then through the YouTube Shopping setup flow. Connecting a store does not guarantee that every product will be eligible to display. YouTube’s current supported-store and product requirements apply.
When a connected store has at least one eligible product, eligible products may appear automatically on channel and video surfaces. You can manage product order and tag or rearrange up to 60 items for an individual video or Short. That is a maximum, not a recommendation to add as many products as possible.

Join the affiliate program for other brands’ products
YouTube’s published eligibility requirements include membership in the YouTube Partner Program, meeting its subscriber threshold for YPP, living in a participating country, and not having a channel that is a music channel, an Official Artist Channel, or a channel with a Made for Kids audience or a significant number of Made for Kids videos. Eligible creators can sign up through the Earn area in YouTube Studio.
When checked on October 3, 2026, YouTube’s listed countries included Argentina, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam. Availability can change; check the current eligibility information in Studio and YouTube’s official YouTube Shopping affiliate program help before relying on the list.

Tag products in videos and Shorts
Eligible creators can tag products manually or use auto-tagging where available. You can tag products while uploading or manage tags on existing eligible content in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s official product-tagging instructions explain the current controls.
Make each tag relevant and identifiable
Tag a product when it is prominent, identifiable, meaningfully related to the content, clearly depicted, and shown being used as intended. YouTube’s guideline says, “Products are meaningfully related to your content.” A review, demonstration, or genuine integration is a better fit than a fleeting or obscured appearance. YouTube also says the product should be mentioned verbally or in text.

Understand how tags appear
- Long-form videos: viewers see a Shopping button that opens the tagged products.
- Shorts: a product sticker appears. It initially features the first product in the tagged list, so reorder the products if you want a different item shown first. In the mobile app, the sticker can be moved and resized.
Tag products during a live stream
Eligible creators can tag their own products or products from other brands during live streams, subject to the relevant Shopping criteria. You can pin a product to highlight it; viewers open the Shopping panel to browse tagged items. Tag only products that fit the stream and are clearly presented.
Amazon product tags have additional requirements
YouTube documents Amazon product tagging for creators enrolled in the YouTube Shopping affiliate program in the United States, Brazil, or India. In the United States, creators must also have an active Amazon Influencer Program or Amazon Associates Program account in good standing and link their YouTube channel to it. A standard Amazon affiliate link does not automatically become a YouTube product tag, and participation does not mean every Amazon listing is taggable. Check the current YouTube guidance for Amazon product tagging and the eligible catalog.

Why a product tag may be missing or invisible
- The channel or content is ineligible: check Shopping eligibility, Made for Kids settings, monetization status, and any copyright claim. Limited or ineligible monetization can affect tagging.
- A Creator Music track is involved: a revenue-sharing track may make product tagging unavailable.
- The viewer cannot see the item: availability can depend on the viewer’s country, shipping availability, product stock, or the device and app they use. Tags may not appear in mobile browsers, smart TVs, or game consoles.
- The product listing changed: a product that was removed or is out of stock may no longer appear.
- A Short uses a non-shopping sound: using such a sound with a product sticker can prevent the product from appearing.
When a viewer reports a missing tag, check the product’s current availability and try viewing the content in the YouTube mobile app or on a computer rather than assuming the tag was removed from the video.

Viewers open a Shopping surface and are generally sent to the retailer to complete a purchase. The retailer controls the product details, availability, and purchase terms. For affiliate products, the commission shown while tagging is an estimate based on the current rate. The payout uses the rate in effect on the purchase date, and rates vary by item and brand; do not treat the displayed estimate as guaranteed.
