To set up the Asus ROG Bulwark Dock DG310 with an Xbox Ally, place the handheld in the dock, connect the dock’s fixed USB-C host cable to a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery, then connect a separate 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger to the dock’s power input. Add one HDMI display, USB peripherals and Ethernet as needed. The DG310 requires no driver installation and can provide up to 80W passthrough, 4K at 144Hz or 8K at 30Hz, HDR, VRR and ALLM when the Ally, cable and display support those features.
This guide covers the physical connections, display settings, wireless pairing, power requirements, stand fit, limitations and fixes for a blank screen or slow charging.
What the DG310 does with an Xbox Ally
The DG310 is a USB-C docking station and stand designed and optimized for the ROG Xbox Ally family. It combines charging, video output, wired networking and accessory connections through one host cable. ASUS’s FAQ, updated September 14, 2026, states that the dock works with devices supporting USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery (USB PD). Supported operating systems are Windows 11 or later, macOS 12.3 or later, and Android 14 or later.
The stand is specifically shaped for the ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026). Other compatible USB-C devices may use the dock’s ports, but their physical fit in the stand is not documented. Do not force a different handheld into the cradle or block its screen, intake, or exhaust openings.

What is in the box
ASUS lists the dock, a user manual and a warranty card. A charger is not included. The dock measures 181.6 × 86.6 × 31.6mm and weighs approximately 262g, with a stated tolerance of ±10g.
What you need before starting
- A ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X or ROG Xbox Ally X20 for the documented stand fit.
- A USB-C port on the handheld that supports both DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. A USB-C connector by itself does not guarantee either feature.
- A USB-C PD charger rated at 100W or higher. This is a separate purchase and is required for the dock’s full 80W passthrough rating.
- An HDMI cable. Use an HDMI 2.1 cable if you want to pursue 4K at 144Hz or other high-bandwidth modes.
- An HDMI-equipped TV or monitor that supports the resolution, refresh rate, HDR, VRR or ALLM mode you intend to use.
- Optional USB accessories, such as a wired controller, keyboard, mouse or flash drive.
- An Ethernet cable and network connection if you want wired networking.
The DG310 does not need a driver installation for the documented setup. Keep the handheld’s operating system current, but do not download a separate dock driver as part of the normal connection process.
Set up the dock step by step
1. Position the Xbox Ally in the stand
Place the handheld into the DG310 cradle with the screen facing you and the device seated naturally. Keep the display visible and leave the intake and exhaust vents unobstructed. The stand dimensions and cable angle are intended for the documented Ally models; a case, grip or other accessory can prevent the connector from seating fully.
2. Connect the fixed host cable
Take the dock’s fixed 60cm, 90-degree USB-C host cable and plug it into a compatible USB-C port on the Xbox Ally. Push the connector in completely without twisting it. The port must carry DisplayPort Alt Mode for video and USB PD for charging. If your model has more than one compatible USB-C port, either may work, but the port’s capabilities determine the result.
3. Connect power to the dock
Plug a USB-C PD charger rated at 100W or higher into the DG310’s USB-C power-input port. The dock accepts up to 20V/5A and can pass up to 80W to the handheld through its host cable. The 100W recommendation accounts for the dock’s own power needs while leaving the rated passthrough available to the Ally.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
A lower-rated charger may power the dock or charge the handheld more slowly, but it is not the configuration ASUS recommends for full 80W output. The charger is not supplied in the box, so verify its USB-C PD rating before troubleshooting the dock.
4. Connect one TV or monitor
Connect an HDMI cable from the DG310’s HDMI 2.1 output to an HDMI input on the TV or monitor. Select that input on the display. If you are targeting 4K at 144Hz, the cable and display input must both support that bandwidth; an older cable or HDMI input can limit the available modes even though the dock has an HDMI 2.1 output.
5. Add wired accessories
Connect a wired Xbox controller, keyboard, mouse, USB flash drive or similar accessory to any of the three USB-A ports. All three ports are rated at 5Gbps. Two provide 5V/0.9A, while one provides 5V/1.5A; use the higher-current port for an accessory that needs more USB power. The port speed is shared with normal USB traffic, so several simultaneous transfers can contend for bandwidth.
6. Add Ethernet if required
Connect an Ethernet cable from the dock’s network port to your router, switch or wall outlet. The interface is Gigabit Ethernet, with a 1Gbps link maximum. Actual internet or file-transfer speed depends on the network equipment, cabling, service plan and other traffic.
7. Turn on the system
Turn on the Xbox Ally and the connected display. On supported TVs, ASUS says the dock can automatically enable TV Game Mode, reducing the need to search through the television’s menus. The exact name and behavior of that mode depend on the TV.

Configure 4K, 144Hz, HDR and VRR
The DG310’s documented display ceiling is 3840×2160 at 144Hz (4K/144Hz) or 7680×4320 at 30Hz (8K/30Hz). HDR, variable refresh rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) are also supported when the Ally, HDMI cable and TV or monitor support them. These are maximum capabilities, not a guarantee that every game or display will use them.

Use the display’s correct HDMI input
Many TVs expose their highest refresh rate or VRR capability on only one or two HDMI inputs. Check the label or manual for the input that supports HDMI 2.1 features, connect the cable there, and select that input. If the display reports 60Hz when you expected 144Hz, verify the input and cable before changing Windows settings.
Select a supported mode in Windows
On the Ally, open Settings, choose System, then Display. Select the external display, open Display resolution and choose the desired resolution. Open Advanced display and select the highest refresh rate offered for that resolution. Windows will show only modes negotiated successfully by the Ally, dock, cable and display.
If 4K/144Hz is unavailable, test 4K/120Hz or a lower resolution to identify whether the limitation is bandwidth, the TV input or the display itself. Do not assume that selecting 144Hz in software can overcome an HDMI cable or panel that is rated lower.

Enable HDR and variable refresh features
In Settings > System > Display, select the external display and open HDR to turn on HDR when the TV or monitor supports it. VRR may appear in the display’s own gaming or adaptive-sync menu and in Windows graphics settings. ALLM is generally negotiated with a compatible TV; the DG310 can pass the feature, but the TV determines whether it enters its low-latency mode.
Connect a controller, keyboard, mouse or storage
Wired accessories through USB-A
Plug a wired controller into a USB-A port and wait for Windows to detect it. Keyboards and mice can remain connected for desktop navigation and games. USB flash drives and other storage devices also use the 5Gbps ports; eject removable storage in Windows before unplugging it.
If an accessory repeatedly disconnects, move it to another port and check its power demand. The two 0.9A ports and the single 1.5A port do not provide identical current. A bus-powered hard drive, lighting device or other high-draw accessory can behave differently from a controller or keyboard.

Wireless accessories with one-touch Bluetooth pairing
The dock can pair a controller, keyboard, headset or another Bluetooth accessory directly with the ROG Xbox Ally. Put the accessory into its pairing mode first. Then press and hold the DG310’s Bluetooth button for five seconds. The accessory should pair without opening the Ally’s Bluetooth menus. Keep the accessory close during the initial pairing and make sure it is not already connected to another host.
How charging works through the DG310
The dock’s USB-C input is rated for up to 100W, while its fixed host connection is rated to deliver up to 80W to the Ally. To reach that full passthrough figure, ASUS recommends a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger. The figure is a maximum rating; the handheld’s charging policy, battery temperature, workload and power mode can reduce the instantaneous draw.
Because no charger is included, a slow-charging warning usually starts with the power supply rather than the HDMI or USB accessories. Confirm that the charger is USB-C PD, rated at least 100W, and connected to the dock’s power-input port rather than another USB-C port.
Fix a blank screen or missing signal
Use these checks in order. They are practical checks based on the dock’s documented connection requirements, not a guarantee of a particular hardware fault.
- Confirm that the HDMI cable is connected to the DG310’s HDMI output and to the TV or monitor’s selected HDMI input.
- Reseat the fixed USB-C host cable at the Ally. A connector that is partly inserted can allow charging or USB functions without a stable DisplayPort link.
- Verify that the Ally’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. A charge-only USB-C port cannot carry the dock’s video signal.
- Power-cycle the display and the Ally, then reconnect the dock with the display already set to the correct input.
- Try another HDMI cable, preferably an HDMI 2.1 cable for high-refresh 4K, and test another HDMI input that the display identifies as high bandwidth.
- If the model provides another compatible USB-C port, test the dock there.
- Open Windows display settings and choose Detect under Settings > System > Display. Start with a lower resolution or 60Hz mode to establish a signal, then increase the mode gradually.
If no display appears after these checks, the limitation may be the Ally’s output capability, the cable, the display or the dock itself. The dock’s 4K/144Hz and 8K/30Hz figures do not override a lower capability anywhere in the signal chain.

- Check that a charger is connected to the DG310’s USB-C power input. The host cable alone does not provide the dock’s full charging path.
- Read the charger label or specification and confirm USB-C PD at 100W or higher. A high-wattage USB-A charger or a non-PD USB-C supply does not meet the stated requirement.
- Unplug high-draw USB accessories temporarily, then check whether the Ally’s charging status changes.
- Reseat both the charger cable and the fixed host cable.
- Try the Ally’s other compatible USB-C port if the model provides one.
Even with a qualifying charger, the Ally may regulate charging below 80W because of battery level, temperature, firmware or current workload. The 80W value is the dock’s maximum passthrough rating, not a promise that the handheld will draw that amount continuously.

Placement, airflow and everyday limitations
Keep vents clear
Use the stand on a stable surface and do not cover the Ally’s intake or exhaust. Avoid placing fabric, papers or a case edge over the vents. Heat buildup can reduce performance or charging speed regardless of the dock’s power rating.
Plan around one display
Because the DG310 has one HDMI output, it is suited to a single TV or monitor setup. It cannot independently drive two external displays. USB-A video adapters, if used, would be separate devices with their own compatibility and performance constraints and are not part of the dock’s documented display capability.
Understand shared connectivity
The dock provides three 5Gbps USB-A ports and one 1Gbps Ethernet port, enough for common living-room or desk accessories. It does not provide additional USB-C data ports, an SD-card reader or a second HDMI output. Choose the USB-A port based on the accessory’s current requirement, especially when several bus-powered devices are attached.

- The handheld is seated in the stand without blocked vents.
- The fixed 60cm, 90-degree USB-C host cable is fully inserted into a DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB PD-capable Ally port.
- A separate USB-C PD charger rated at least 100W is connected to the dock’s power input.
- The HDMI cable is connected to the dock and the display’s correct input.
- The display supports the chosen resolution and refresh rate; HDMI 2.1 hardware is used for high-bandwidth 4K/144Hz attempts.
- USB accessories are connected to the three 5Gbps USB-A ports, with higher-current devices placed on the 1.5A port when appropriate.
- Ethernet is connected only if a wired network is needed.
- Wireless accessories are in pairing mode before the dock’s Bluetooth button is held for five seconds.
- The Ally and display are powered on, and Windows shows the external display under Settings > System > Display.
Is the DG310 a good fit for your setup?
The DG310 is the straightforward choice when you want to place a documented ROG Xbox Ally model in a stand and run one external display, wired accessories and Gigabit Ethernet through one USB-C connection. Its main preparation requirement is the separate 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger: without one, you should not expect the dock’s full 80W passthrough rating.
Its high-end video modes are conditional. The dock can expose 4K/144Hz or 8K/30Hz, HDR, VRR and ALLM, but the Ally’s graphics output, the HDMI cable and the TV or monitor must all support the selected mode. For most setups, connecting power first, then the host cable, followed by HDMI and peripherals, provides the least confusing installation path.
