Yes—you can keep prerecorded video streaming to YouTube without leaving a computer at home running the encoder. A cloud playout service sends the live feed from its own servers after you upload your videos and connect it to YouTube Live. Your Indian broadband is still needed to upload the files and manage the service, but it does not have to carry the continuous broadcast feed.

How cloud looping works—and what it does not change

YouTube receives a live feed from an encoder. That encoder can be software running on your computer, such as OBS, or a cloud service that plays uploaded video files. With a local encoder, your computer and home internet connection must remain available while it sends the stream. With cloud playout, you upload and configure the media first; the provider sends the broadcast feed to YouTube.

This shifts the continuous broadcast upload away from your home connection, which can help when local upload speed is limited or unreliable. It does not eliminate the connection needed to upload source files, configure the stream, or check its status. Nor does moving the encoder to the cloud guarantee uninterrupted uptime or improve how the stream plays for viewers.

YouTube’s encoder directory lists Gyre and Upstream for cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded streaming. That listing establishes the use case, not a provider’s current price, data handling, reliability, India-region routing, or plan limits. Check those details directly before choosing any provider.

Check channel eligibility and rights first

  • Confirm live access: Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours. Streamers must be at least 16 and follow YouTube’s policies. See YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
  • Clear every element: You need the rights to broadcast each video, sound recording, image, and other element in the loop. Copyright matches or strikes can interrupt a live stream or restrict live access. Do not use another channel to evade a restriction; continuous playback does not itself establish policy compliance or monetization eligibility. Review YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions.

Prepare the videos and playlist

  1. Choose what will loop: Decide which authorized videos belong in the broadcast and the order in which they should play. A loop is not a substitute for checking whether you have permission for continuous live use.
  2. Check the provider’s requirements: Supported file formats, file-size limits, storage, playlists, and transition behavior vary by service. Confirm them in that provider’s current documentation rather than treating one format as a YouTube requirement.
  3. Plan for the archive: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise automatic archiving for a continuous stream longer than 12 hours. If you need a durable replay, plan a shorter broadcast or arrange another recording method. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
  4. Account for upload time: The initial file transfer still uses your home connection. Upload during a period when the connection is available, and leave time for large files to finish before scheduling the broadcast.

Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder

  1. Open YouTube Studio: Select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one, then set its visibility and audience options.
  2. Copy the ingest details: In the stream setup, copy the stream URL and private stream key into the cloud provider’s YouTube destination settings. YouTube’s setup instructions describe this encoder workflow: set up a YouTube Live stream.
  3. Protect the key: Treat the stream key as a password: anyone with it may be able to send content to your channel. Enter it only in the service you intend to use; if it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
  4. Start a test transmission: Keep Live Control Room open for the first launch. Start the cloud service’s broadcast and wait for YouTube’s preview. Confirm the expected video and audio appear and check stream health before sharing the live page widely.

Upload and start the cloud loop

  1. Upload the authorized media to the cloud service and wait for all files to finish processing or become available for playback.
  2. Build the playlist or loop using the provider’s controls. Check its documented behavior at the end of the playlist—such as whether it restarts automatically—and whether transitions or gaps are expected.
  3. Select YouTube as the destination and add the stream URL and private key from Live Control Room if the service requests both. Keep the key private.
  4. Start the broadcast in the cloud service. Return to Live Control Room and verify the preview, audio, and health indicators. A cloud encoder removes the need to keep a local computer running the encoder, but you still need your connection for uploading and service management.

Choose quality and test the stream

Choose settings supported by the cloud encoder and appropriate for the material you uploaded. The following are YouTube’s published H.264 bitrate recommendations, not guarantees that a particular provider offers each setting or that a home connection can sustain the bitrate for file uploads.

Output resolution and frame rate YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate
1080p at 30 fps 14 Mbps
1080p at 60 fps 17 Mbps
720p at 30 or 60 fps 8 Mbps
480p at 30 fps 4 Mbps
360p at 30 fps 3 Mbps

These figures come from YouTube Help’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance, accessed October 3, 2026. YouTube’s advice is to choose a quality that results in a reliable stream based on the connection. For a cloud encoder, assess the provider’s available output settings and test its ingest rather than assuming your home upload speed determines the cloud-to-YouTube feed.

  • Includes 128GB Micro SD Card pre-loaded with 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS, USB MicroSD Card Reader

  • Mega Heat Sink - Black Anodized
  • YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264/H.265/AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR) among its supported encoder settings. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
  • YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Use it if the cloud service offers it for the YouTube destination.
  • Test before the intended launch and watch stream health during the broadcast. A test from your own connection can help assess upload time and service management, but it is not evidence of performance on every Indian ISP or cloud route.

Compare cloud and local streaming for your situation

Consideration Cloud playout Local encoder
Computer at home during broadcast Not needed to run the encoder after upload and setup. Must remain available while encoding and sending.
Home upload during broadcast Used for uploading files and managing the service; the cloud service sends the live feed. Used continuously to send the live feed to YouTube.
Control and setup Depends on the provider’s playlist, destination, limits, and key-handling features. Offers direct control in the local encoder but depends on the creator’s machine and connection.
Playlist automation and recovery Features vary; verify loop controls, reconnect behavior, and alerts with the provider. Depends on the encoder configuration and local system; verify restart and recovery behavior.
Cost Check recurring charges, storage, stream-count limits, and plan terms. Consider the cost of keeping suitable hardware and a reliable connection available.

YouTube’s encoder directory names Gyre and Upstream as cloud options, but a directory listing is not a comparison of their plans or performance. Before committing, check supported media formats, file-size and storage limits, playlist controls, transitions, resolution options, stream count, recovery and alerting, how the service protects the YouTube key, and current prices. Do not infer Indian ISP routing or local reliability from a general cloud-streaming claim.
