For a stream that must keep running without a computer at home, a cloud service such as StreamNeo is another option. First, confirm your music rights: YouTube can interrupt a live stream when it detects third-party content, even if you have a license but the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel.
Before you build the playlist: confirm channel access and music rights
Check that your channel can go live
Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is your first live stream, enable the feature ahead of time; YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s general live-stream help page says users must be at least 16 to live stream. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements and encoder setup instructions.
Clear the rights for each recording
Religious subject matter does not make a recording free to broadcast. Check rights for the specific recording and arrangement, including the rights needed for the live broadcast and any archived copy. YouTube’s live-stream terms make the provider responsible for obtaining the necessary rights, including music rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other contributors: YouTube Terms of Service.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream image, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if identified content remains. If you have licensed third-party music, YouTube advises asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license by itself does not guarantee uninterrupted streaming when the channel is not allowlisted. Prepare and schedule the Marathi devotional playlist
Organize recordings and presentation
Put the recordings in the intended playback order and check that each file plays from beginning to end. Decide whether viewers will see a still image, a simple visual, or another appropriate presentation while the audio plays. Make sure the visual is also yours to use or properly cleared. For a bhajan, abhang, kirtan, or other devotional set, test the transitions between tracks so that unexpected silence or abrupt changes do not undermine the listening experience.
Create the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, choose the Stream tab to create a stream, or schedule one for later.
- Set the title, description, visibility, and other metadata for the intended audience. Scheduling creates a watch page you can share in advance.
Once live streaming is activated for the channel, YouTube says streams can be started instantly. Exact interface labels may change; consult YouTube’s current encoder instructions if the Studio layout differs.

Connect an encoder and configure playback
Choose software or hardware encoding
YouTube supports an encoder running as software on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. The choice depends on whether your setup can play the playlist reliably for the planned run, maintain a stable network connection, and let you monitor and recover the stream. YouTube does not specify a required computer model or minimum system specification for this workflow.
Copy the stream URL and protect the key
- In Live Control Room, locate and copy the stream URL and stream key.
- In your encoder, paste the URL into its server or ingest field and the key into its stream-key field.
- Select the playlist and configure the audio and visual output. Start with the encoder settings supported by your hardware and YouTube’s guidance, then test before going public.
The stream key is a credential: do not publish it, include it in screenshots, or share it with people who do not need access. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room. YouTube documents RTMP and RTMPS; it recommends RTMPS where supported. Its encoder settings list H.264, H.265, and AV1 video codecs, and AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS. The appropriate combination depends on the encoder and stream design. For an audio-led playlist, avoid adding unnecessary video complexity. See YouTube’s encoder settings.

Do not guess a universal bitrate
Resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and audio settings affect compatibility and bandwidth. YouTube recommends choosing quality based on your upload capacity and testing the settings rather than treating one bitrate as right for every setup. Consult its current bitrate and encoder recommendations for your chosen output. A decorative still image does not, by itself, make a high-resolution video stream necessary.
Run a test and verify the stream before sharing it
- Start with a private or unlisted test rather than announcing an all-day stream immediately.
- Watch the Live Control Room preview and check stream health. Confirm that the playlist order, audio levels, track changes, and visual are as intended.
- Open the watch page on the channel and test on a phone as well as the device used for encoding. Confirm that the intended viewers can access it with the chosen visibility setting.
- Check the network’s actual upload speed while the encoder is running. YouTube recommends about 20% upload headroom above the combined stream bitrate; other users or devices sharing the connection can reduce available capacity.
- Test with audio and movement similar to the final stream and monitor the connection during the test. A successful short test is useful, but it does not make a long run failproof.

Plan for the stream’s duration and any handoff
YouTube’s encoder instructions state, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That describes automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours; it does not establish that one stream can run indefinitely or guarantee an unattended, seamless loop and restart. Before designing a 24/7 schedule, check the current behavior in YouTube Studio and the current documentation for your chosen encoder. Plan how someone will monitor playback, network health, and interruptions rather than assuming the stream will recover on its own.
If you need to end one stream and direct viewers to another live destination or a Premiere, YouTube Live Redirect may help. The sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes, and the destination channel must allow the redirect. Troubleshoot common setup problems
