Before you start, confirm the channel is eligible and that you have the rights to broadcast every track. An Indian server is an infrastructure choice—not a YouTube requirement, a guarantee of better routing, or permission to rebroadcast music.
What you need before setup
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s general guidance also requires streamers to be at least 16. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming tips and getting-started guidance.
- A cloud VM in an Indian location, an encoder that can send a video feed to YouTube, and a Hindi playlist prepared in a format the encoder can play.
- The stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password.
- Broadcast rights for every track and for the way you intend to use the playlist.
YouTube’s encoder workflow accepts a server URL and stream key; it does not make a playlist legal or automatically configure unattended playback. The setup below is a practical workflow, not a tested 24/7 deployment recipe.
Choose an Indian cloud location
Official location documentation lists several Indian options: AWS has regions in Mumbai and Hyderabad, and says its India infrastructure also includes Local Zones in Delhi and Kolkata; Amazon Lightsail lists Mumbai; Google Cloud Compute Engine documents zones in Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2). These are candidate locations, not a ranking. A nearby location may help latency to your VM, but the available documentation does not establish that it improves the route to YouTube or ensures an uninterrupted stream. You do not have to host in India for YouTube to accept a stream. Compare the exact service and instance availability, outbound-transfer terms, sustained compute and network capacity, price, and monitoring or restart tools before choosing. Current prices, quotas, throughput under load, and suitability for continuous playlist streaming are not established by the cited location pages.

Create the YouTube livestream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or select a livestream and locate its server URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder streaming guide explains this connection model.
- Install and configure an encoder on the VM. Choose an encoder that supports your media and can send an RTMP-family feed to YouTube. OBS is one software-encoder option, but the cited guidance does not validate a particular OBS playlist setup for unattended operation. Test your chosen encoder and playlist on the selected VM.
- Enter YouTube’s connection details. Paste the server URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Use RTMPS when supported; YouTube recommends it for encrypted ingestion. Never expose the key in a public screenshot, configuration file, or log.
- Arrange playlist playback. Load the tracks in the encoder or playback setup you selected and check that the playlist advances as expected. The official guidance does not specify an exact playlist-automation recipe, so verify playback, transitions, and what happens at the end of the list yourself before scheduling a stream.
Set video, audio, and network settings
Follow YouTube’s current live encoder settings and the options available in your Live Control Room. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and no more than four seconds between keyframes. Its settings page also lists supported video and audio formats and audio parameters; use values that match the encoder, source media, and selected stream rather than copying an unrelated HDR configuration.
Check the bitrate of the complete outgoing stream against the VM’s available outbound capacity. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom, checking available upload capacity, and accounting for a primary and backup stream if both are active. Its network, latency, and stream quality guidance also advises using a reliable connection and testing ahead of the event. Cloud network performance and transfer charges depend on the service and configuration; confirm them with your provider.

Preview, start, and monitor the stream
- Set up the encoder at least two hours before a scheduled event and start it at least 15 minutes beforehand, following YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview before starting the event. Confirm the event is reachable and that both audio and video are present.
- Monitor audio and video quality while the stream is running. For a continuous stream, plan separately for alerts, encoder-process restarts, and VM failure. The cited guidance does not validate a specific failover design or guarantee that a single VM will stay live indefinitely.
Clear the music rights before broadcasting
A Hindi-language playlist is not exempt from copyright rules. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”
Confirm that you have the necessary rights for each specific track, the intended use, and the relevant territories. A music purchase or personal streaming subscription does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast. The terms do not determine which Indian permissions apply to a particular playlist; get appropriate rights guidance for your situation before going live.
