To loop a Hindi devotional video on YouTube Live, add the recording to an OBS Studio Media Source, enable Loop, then connect OBS to a YouTube stream using its server URL and stream key. For a sequence of recordings, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Test the picture and sound in YouTube Studio before starting the public broadcast, and use only media you have permission to stream.
Before you set up the loop
Make sure the channel can livestream
Your YouTube channel must be verified and have no livestreaming restrictions from the previous 90 days. You must be at least 16 to livestream. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility requirements.
Prepare the recording and confirm rights
Keep the video or audio file on the computer running OBS. OBS Media Source supports common video formats such as MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, and WebM, and audio formats such as MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. If you want a still devotional image with a separate soundtrack, add the image and audio as separate scene sources.
A devotional subject does not make a recording free to use. Confirm that your permission covers the specific sound recording and composition, livestream use, territories, and any archived playback. YouTube’s livestream terms say creators must hold the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content, including music licensing rights. Keep permission records and check whether the rights owner requires your channel to be allowlisted.

Choose the right OBS source

Set up a single-file loop in OBS
- Create a scene: In OBS, add a scene for the devotional broadcast if you do not already have one.
- Add the recording: In the scene’s Sources panel, select +, choose Media Source, name it, and select the local file.
- Enable looping: Turn on Loop in the Media Source properties. Leave Restart playback when source becomes active enabled if you want playback to start from the beginning whenever the source becomes visible in the active scene.
- Check the scene: Confirm that the video fits the canvas and that its audio meter responds during playback. If using an image and separate audio, add both sources and check that the image remains visible while the audio loops.
Set up a playlist loop
- In the scene’s Sources panel, select + and choose VLC Video.
- Add the desired local files to the playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Confirm Loop Playlist is enabled. It is enabled by default, but verify the setting.
- Preview the playlist in OBS and check that each item advances and that the final item returns to the first.
If VLC Video is unavailable or does not play the playlist, confirm VLC is installed on the computer running OBS. For a single recording, Media Source is the simpler choice.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create a stream or select a scheduled stream.
- Copy the stream’s server URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it can send a feed to your channel. Do not publish or share it.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for YouTube Live Control Room to receive the signal and show the preview. Check the picture and audio there before starting the viewer-facing event.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, its secure extension to RTMP. Its current encoder guidance also recommends H.264 with CBR, a two-second keyframe interval (not more than four seconds), and 128 Kbps stereo audio. Follow YouTube’s resolution- and frame-rate-specific video bitrate recommendations rather than treating one bitrate as suitable for every stream. Choose a quality your actual upload connection can sustain reliably; test the connection before settling on a bitrate.

Test and monitor the broadcast
- Make a test stream with audio and motion similar to the planned broadcast. An unlisted test is one option.
- Check that YouTube’s preview shows the loop, the audio is present and at a sensible level, and stream health reports no issue.
- Start the OBS encoder ahead of the scheduled event so there is time to inspect the preview before going live to viewers.
- During the broadcast, monitor YouTube stream health and the audio and video output.
Copyright checks and interruptions
YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. If it detects such content, it may replace the live output with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the stream if the material remains. A license alone may not prevent this: YouTube says licensed content can require the channel to be allowlisted by the rights owner. Ask the owner about allowlisting before relying on a license, and retain documentation of your permissions.
YouTube’s special live Content ID matching feature is limited to certain YouTube Content Manager partners and has global-rights and exclusive-ownership requirements; it is not a setting an ordinary creator can simply switch on. See YouTube’s information about live content and Content ID.

Troubleshoot common loop problems
