To keep an ambient YouTube stream running around the clock from India, run a video encoder on a cloud VM or use a managed cloud streaming service, then connect it to a YouTube Live event with that event’s stream URL and key. A cloud setup means your home computer and internet connection do not have to stay on. Before choosing a provider, confirm that your channel can livestream, choose a supported Indian region, test the stream end to end, and plan for YouTube’s archive limit: streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but YouTube’s cited guidance does not promise a complete archive for one continuous 24-hour session.
Choose a cloud setup: manage a VM or use a streaming service
There are two practical cloud approaches. With a self-managed VM, you install and operate encoder software, provide access to your ambient media, and configure monitoring and recovery. A managed service reduces server administration, but its current features, regional availability, and terms need to be checked with the provider.

YouTube’s encoder documentation names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video. That mention does not establish its current pricing, India availability, or feature details; check those with the provider before choosing it. Google Cloud and AWS document infrastructure in India, but that alone does not guarantee that a particular machine or service is available in every region.

Check YouTube Live eligibility before building the stream
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction during the previous 90 days. The cited help page also states that streamers must be at least 16. Create a scheduled or current event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, where you can get the connection details for your encoder. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
Pick an Indian cloud region and size the VM for the encode
Choose a region based on availability for the specific product and machine type, media location, network path to YouTube ingest, cost, and resilience needs. Google Cloud lists Mumbai (asia-south1) for its Live Stream API and Mumbai and Delhi for Compute Engine. AWS identifies Mumbai and Hyderabad as India regions. These provider pages establish regional infrastructure, not universal availability of every VM type or feature.

- Google Cloud Live Stream API locations lists Mumbai and notes that location selection can take latency, cost, resiliency, and co-location with other Google Cloud services into account.
- Google Compute Engine regions and zones lists Mumbai and Delhi.
- AWS regions and availability zones identifies Mumbai and Hyderabad as India regions.
For a self-managed VM, the machine must be able to read the source media and encode the chosen resolution and frame rate continuously. Whether CPU encoding or hardware acceleration is appropriate depends on the codec, output settings, and available machine type; the cited provider location pages do not determine a universally correct VM size.
Do not estimate a monthly total from the VM price alone. Include compute for the hours the encoder runs, storage, and outbound data transfer, then check regional rates for the chosen machine and configuration. Google publishes Compute Engine pricing and network pricing; an accurate estimate still depends on your region, VM, codec, resolution, runtime, storage pattern, and egress.

Prepare the ambient video and audio
Use only footage and audio that you have the rights to stream. A cloud encoder needs ongoing access to the source files, whether they are on attached storage or another cloud service. Decide how the encoder will repeat the video or playlist and what it should do when a file is missing or playback ends; the exact configuration depends on the encoder software or managed service.
Copyright permission and YouTube monetization are separate questions. Having a file available to the encoder does not establish that you have permission to broadcast it, and this setup guide cannot determine whether particular material is eligible for monetization. Review the rights for every visual and audio asset before putting it on a continuous public stream.

Configure the encoder for YouTube
YouTube’s encoder guidance supports RTMP and RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS for an encrypted connection. Set the encoder to match the intended resolution, frame rate, and codec, then choose the corresponding bitrate from YouTube’s recommendation table rather than using one bitrate for every stream. For H.264 at 1080p30, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps. Its guidance recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed 4 seconds. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance for the bitrate ranges by codec, resolution, and frame rate.
- Ingest: Choose RTMPS where available for encryption.
- Video: Set a resolution and frame rate the VM can encode continuously and the network can sustain.
- Bitrate: Use YouTube’s recommended value for that codec and output mode; the 10 Mbps recommendation applies specifically to H.264 at 1080p30.
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second interval and do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Audio: Confirm the ambient audio is present, at a usable level, and included in the encoder output.
Connect the encoder and start the YouTube event
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select the scheduled or current stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that event into the encoder’s YouTube ingest settings. YouTube describes stream keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address”; treat the key as a credential, and do not share or publish it.
- Start the encoder and wait for YouTube’s preview and stream-health information to appear.
- Check the picture, playback loop, and audio in the preview. If the event is scheduled, start it from the Live Control Room when ready; confirm the stream is live before relying on it.

Test monitoring, recovery, and archives before leaving it unattended
YouTube recommends testing the encoder before the stream and monitoring stream health, messages, and audio and video quality. For a 24/7 operation, also decide how you will detect a stopped encoder, failed media playback, or a dropped YouTube connection. A restart or recovery plan is essential operational work; the provider documentation cited here does not prescribe a particular process supervisor or failover design.
Do not assume one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be archived in full. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its cited guidance does not specify the outcome for a stream longer than that. Troubleshoot common setup failures
