To restrict Netflix Games, set a maturity-rating ceiling on your child’s Netflix profile, then lock adult profiles and require a PIN to add profiles. Netflix says its games have no in-app purchases or extra game fees, so there is no Netflix-game spending switch to turn off. If you also want to restrict purchases in other apps, configure the separate controls on the child’s device or app store.

How do Netflix parental controls restrict games?

Netflix Games use the maturity setting on a Netflix profile. That setting is shared with the profile’s shows and movies; Netflix does not provide a separate game-only maturity slider. A game above the profile’s allowed rating should not appear for that profile.

This is an account-profile control, not a complete device-level parental-control system. It helps filter which Netflix games a profile can see, while profile locks help prevent a child from switching to a less restricted profile. Apple and Google controls cover separate downloads and purchases made through their stores.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Think of the setup as three separate layers. First, the child’s profile rating limits the Netflix content available to that profile. Second, PINs help protect access to adult profiles and prevent the creation of additional profiles. Third, the controls on an Apple or Android device can govern app downloads, purchases, or app use beyond Netflix. One layer does not replace the others.

Netflix says games are included with a membership, but an active membership is still needed to play. The games do not have in-app purchases or extra game fees. That means you do not need to disable Netflix-game spending; if your concern is a child buying something elsewhere, use the device-store controls below.

How do I set a maturity limit for a Netflix profile?

Choose the highest rating you want the profile to be allowed to access. Netflix requires account verification before you can change viewing restrictions. Because the profile’s maturity setting also affects its shows and movies, consider whether the limit is suitable for all the content on that profile, not just games.

In the Netflix mobile app

  1. Open My Netflix, then tap the profile name.
  2. Tap Manage Profiles and select the child’s profile.
  3. Open Viewing Restrictions.
  4. Under Maturity Rating, verify the change with the Netflix account password and choose the rating ceiling.

In a web browser

  1. Open Account, then go to Profiles.
  2. Select the child’s profile and choose Adjust parental controls.
  3. Verify identity using the method Netflix offers: the account password or a code sent by email or text.
  4. Choose the maturity rating and select Save.

Netflix says a Kids profile’s maturity level must be changed in a web browser. If you cannot make the change in the app, use the browser route for that profile. After saving, check the child’s profile on the device they actually use. If the change does not seem to have taken effect, switch profiles or sign out and back in to refresh.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not confuse a profile’s rating with a separate Netflix Games setting. There is no game-only maturity slider documented by Netflix. Raising or lowering the profile ceiling changes the profile’s broader viewing allowance as well as which games may be shown.

How do Netflix game ratings relate to profile ratings?

Netflix says game ratings come from the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) and the Apple App Store, and ratings can differ by region and operating system. Do not assume that the number shown in a profile setting maps identically to every platform’s store label.

For one example, Netflix says a profile set to 13+ will not show games rated 16+ or higher. Check the rating shown for the particular game in Netflix or its app-store listing, especially if the game appears on one device but not another.

The rating shown in a store listing can be useful when you are deciding whether a particular title is suitable, but store labels and Netflix profile labels are not necessarily interchangeable. Netflix’s help information maps profile ceilings to ratings used on Android, iPhone and iPad, and TV or computer games. Ratings and availability can also vary by region and operating system, so the actual title listing and the profile’s behavior are more useful than assuming a single number works identically everywhere.

How do I stop a child from switching to an unrestricted profile?

Set a Profile Lock PIN on each adult profile the child should not enter, and require a PIN before anyone can add another profile. These are separate safeguards from the child profile’s maturity rating.

Lock an adult profile

  1. In the app, open My Netflix, tap the profile name, and choose Manage Profiles.
  2. Select the adult profile, then open Profile Lock and choose Create a Profile Lock.
  3. Verify with the Netflix account password and create a four-digit PIN.

In a browser, go to Account → Profiles, select the adult profile, and open Profile Lock. Netflix says extra-member accounts have one profile and cannot use a profile lock.

Lock every unrestricted adult profile the child could otherwise choose, rather than locking only one and leaving another open. A profile lock protects the account’s profile navigation; it does not change the child profile’s maturity rating. Keep the PIN private, and remember that Netflix says anyone who knows the account password can change parental controls.

Require a PIN to add profiles

  1. Lock the main profile first.
  2. In a browser, open Account → Profiles, select the main profile, and choose Profile Lock.
  3. Verify identity, select Require PIN to add new profiles, and save.

Netflix makes this option available only on the main profile. If a change does not appear right away, switch profiles or sign out and back in to refresh.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These protections have limits: Netflix documents older devices that may not ask for a PIN when someone enters a locked profile, and browsers that may reopen the last-used profile. Anyone who knows the Netflix account password can change parental controls, so keep it private and check how the household’s devices behave.

That last point matters in a shared household. A PIN setting is not a guarantee that every older device or browser will behave in the same way. Check the devices your child can access, and do not leave an unrestricted profile selected on a browser that may reopen to the last-used profile. Netflix also says deleting a profile permanently removes that profile’s game progress, so deletion is not a harmless way to reset access.

Can I block one Netflix game?

Netflix’s documented Block Titles or Title Restrictions controls apply to shows and movies; Netflix does not document a per-game title block. If you need to exclude a particular game app, look for an app-blocking option on the device itself where available. That is a device setting, not a Netflix account restriction.

It is useful to separate “hide games above a rating” from “block this one title.” Netflix profile maturity settings address the first concern by filtering based on ratings. They are not a list where you can select an individual game to prohibit while leaving other games at the same rating available. For a particular installed app, device-level app blocking may be an alternative, but its availability and steps depend on the device and its family-control settings.

Can a child make purchases in Netflix Games?

No. Netflix says its games have no ads, extra fees, or in-app purchases. An active Netflix membership is still required to play, but there is no Netflix-game microtransaction setting to disable.

This does not prevent a child from downloading or buying other apps, or making purchases in those apps. Those transactions are handled separately by the device’s app store, so use the relevant store or family controls if that is part of your concern.

Netflix’s mobile-games help page states, “No ads. No extra fees. No in-app purchases.” Its TV and computer games help page likewise says there are no in-app purchases or extra game fees. Do not treat Apple’s or Google’s purchase approval settings as a way to turn off spending inside Netflix Games: those settings apply to eligible store activity, and Netflix says its games do not offer in-game purchases in the first place.

How do I restrict purchases in other apps?

Use the platform’s own family controls for store purchases. Approval settings apply within the store’s stated scope; they do not create or control purchases inside Netflix Games. The choices are different on Android and Apple devices, so follow the route for the device your child uses.

Android: require Google Play approval

  1. Set up the child’s supervised account with Family Link.
  2. In Family Link, open Controls → Google Play → Purchases & download approvals → Require approval for.
  3. Choose the level you want, such as all content, paid content, or in-app purchases.

Google says purchase approvals apply only to purchases made through Google Play’s billing system. Previously approved or installed apps may not prompt for approval again. Family Link also offers app blocking or time limits, and Google Play has content-maturity filters.

Choose the approval level to match the concern. Google’s listed choices include all content, paid content, and in-app purchases. Those are Google Play approval choices, not Netflix settings. Google cautions that approvals cover only purchases made through its billing system; they do not necessarily cover transactions handled outside that system. Also keep in mind that a previously approved or installed app may not ask for approval again under the same circumstances as a new purchase.

If the concern is access to an app rather than payment, Family Link’s app-blocking or time-limit options may be more relevant than purchase approval. Google Play’s maturity filters are another separate control. These options complement the Netflix profile rating: one is aimed at Netflix content on a profile, while the others concern apps and activity on the supervised Android device.

iPhone or iPad: block in-app purchases or require approval

Apple’s Screen Time instructions, published September 17, 2026, give this route to block in-app purchases:

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

  1. Enable Screen Time for the device or child account.
  2. Open Settings → Screen Time → Apps & Websites → App Store → In-app Purchases.
  3. Set the option to Blocked.

For eligible child-account downloads and purchases, a Family Sharing organizer or parent can instead require approval: open Settings → Family → child → Apps & Websites → Restrictions → Ask to Buy, then turn on Require Purchase Approval. Apple notes that some repeat downloads, updates, and redemption codes are exceptions, and availability varies by region.

These are two related but distinct Apple controls: Screen Time can block in-app purchases, while Ask to Buy can require approval for eligible downloads and purchases made by a child account. Apple documents exceptions for some repeat downloads, updates, and redemption codes, and says availability varies by region. Neither setting adds a purchase feature to Netflix Games or substitutes for choosing a maturity limit on the Netflix profile.

Why might a game be missing from a child’s profile?

A game may be hidden because its rating exceeds the profile ceiling or because the device is incompatible. Ratings and game availability can vary by device and region, so check the individual game’s rating and requirements rather than assuming every Netflix title should appear everywhere.

When troubleshooting, first confirm which Netflix profile is active and what maturity rating is set on that profile. Then compare the game’s rating with the profile ceiling. If the rating should be allowed, check the game’s own device requirements and whether Netflix offers it for that device and region. A game missing from one profile or device does not by itself prove that the account’s parental setting is broken.

Netflix’s documentation about Kids profiles is inconsistent: one parental-controls search excerpt says Netflix Games are not displayed on Kids profiles, while its current Kids-profile article describes an experience with selected shows, movies, and games. The first page redirects when opened, so this discrepancy cannot be resolved confidently from Netflix’s available documentation. Check what appears on the actual profile and device; do not rely on selecting Kids alone as a guaranteed way to hide every game.

Because the wording is inconsistent, verify what your own account and device show rather than promising that a Kids profile will hide all games. A profile maturity ceiling and locks on unrestricted profiles are clearer, separate safeguards to configure. If you are evaluating a specific title, inspect its listing and rating on the relevant device instead of relying on a general statement about all Kids profiles.

Which devices can run Netflix Games?

Netflix mobile games can be downloaded to compatible Android phones and tablets, and to iPhones and iPads. Individual games have their own requirements, so a supported device category does not guarantee that every game will run on every device.

Netflix also documents a TV-and-computer game beta available in the United States, subject to compatible devices and availability. A phone or tablet acts as the controller for TV play. Netflix says gamepads and other controllers are not supported, so a separate controller is not a fix for a TV game that cannot be controlled.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you are deciding which device to use, treat a compatible Android tablet or Apple iPad as optional mobile-game hardware, not as a requirement for setting parental controls. No particular model or game compatibility is established here. Check the requirements for each game and the device before relying on it. Netflix TV games use a phone or tablet as the controller; Netflix explicitly says gamepads and other controllers are not supported.

Which control should I use for each concern?

Concern Relevant control What it addresses
Games with ratings above the child’s allowance Netflix profile maturity rating Filters Netflix games according to the profile’s maturity ceiling; the same setting also applies to shows and movies.
Switching into an adult profile Netflix Profile Lock Requires a four-digit PIN for a locked profile on devices that request it.
Adding a less restricted profile Require PIN to add new profiles Restricts profile creation through the main profile’s lock settings.
Purchases or downloads in other apps Apple Screen Time, Ask to Buy, or Google Family Link and Google Play approvals Applies to eligible device-store activity within each platform’s rules, not Netflix Games purchases.
A game that does not run on a device Check the game’s requirements and supported platform Helps distinguish a compatibility issue from a profile-rating restriction.

The right setup depends on the concern: profile maturity settings filter content, profile PINs protect account navigation, and Apple or Google controls address other store activity. They complement one another rather than replacing one another.

A practical order is to set the child profile’s maturity ceiling first, then lock each adult profile the child could enter, and finally require a PIN to add profiles from the main profile. After that, decide whether you also need Apple or Google controls for purchases, downloads, app blocking, or time limits on the child’s device. This sequence keeps the Netflix account controls distinct from the store controls.

There is no single control that covers all of these concerns: Netflix maturity limits do not approve Google Play purchases; Google Play approvals do not set Netflix game ratings; and an adult-profile PIN is not a substitute for reviewing device compatibility. Use the control that corresponds to the issue, and check the profile and device the child actually uses.

Can I use Netflix’s account PIN feature instead of a Profile Lock?

Netflix’s account-level PIN information page says its information is unavailable for the United States. The documented Profile Lock is a separate feature for locking a profile; do not assume one setting is interchangeable with the other.

Will a purchase approval stop every purchase on an Android device?

No. Google says its approvals apply only to transactions using Google Play’s billing system. A purchase handled outside that billing system is outside that particular approval setting.

Can I disable in-app purchases for Netflix Games?

There is no Netflix-game purchase switch to disable. Netflix says its games have no in-app purchases or extra game fees. Apple Screen Time and Google Play approvals concern eligible activity through their respective platforms, not purchases inside Netflix Games.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I block one Netflix game but allow other games at the same rating?

Netflix documents maturity limits for profiles, but its Block Titles or Title Restrictions controls are described for shows and movies, not individual games. A device-level app-blocking option may be available for a particular installed app.

Why is a Netflix game missing from my child’s profile?

The game may have a rating above the profile’s maturity ceiling, may not be available for that device or region, or may not meet the device’s requirements. Check the profile setting and the game’s listing. Netflix’s wording about game visibility on Kids profiles is inconsistent, so inspect the actual account and device.

Does a Netflix Kids profile always hide games?

Netflix documentation uses conflicting wording: a parental-controls excerpt says games are not displayed on Kids profiles, while a current Kids-profile article describes selected games as part of the experience. Check your own profile and device rather than relying on a categorical guarantee.

Will Profile Lock always ask for a PIN on every device?

Netflix documents that some older devices may not ask for a PIN to enter a locked profile, and that browsers may reopen the last-used profile. Check the devices in your household and keep the account password private.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use a gamepad for Netflix games on a TV?

Netflix says gamepads and other controllers are not supported for its TV and computer games. A phone or tablet is used as the controller for TV play.

The Bottom Line

Set the child’s Netflix profile maturity ceiling, lock unrestricted adult profiles, and require a PIN to add profiles. Netflix games have no in-app purchases, but Apple or Google family controls can help manage purchases and downloads in other apps. Check each game’s rating and device requirements, since availability and Kids-profile behavior can vary.
