To send bhajan playback from Windows into OBS, capture the player with an Application Audio Capture source when your Windows version and player support it, then disable OBS’s global Desktop Audio to prevent duplicate sound. If application capture does not work, capture the intended playback device instead, or use OBS’s documented VB-Cable workaround for an incompatible player. Check the OBS Audio Mixer, make a short test recording or stream, and listen back before leaving the broadcast running.
Choose one audio capture route
First identify the Windows application playing the bhajans and the playback device it uses. The right OBS route depends on your Windows version, the player, and whether you want to exclude other computer sounds.

Set up the bhajan player in OBS
Use Application Audio Capture where supported
- Open OBS and select the scene intended for the bhajan stream.
- In the Sources box, select + → Application Audio Capture. Name the source if prompted.
- Choose the application that plays the bhajans from the source’s application selector. Start playback if the player is not listed or does not yet produce audio.
- Open Settings → Audio and set global Desktop Audio to Disabled. This prevents the player from entering the mix through both the application source and the global desktop source.
Application Audio Capture is documented for Windows 10 version 2004 or later and Windows 11. If your Windows version or player is not compatible, use another route below rather than adding duplicate captures. OBS Application Audio Capture Guide
Capture a playback device instead
For global capture, open Settings → Audio and select the Windows playback device the player uses under Desktop Audio. If the mixer does not respond, or OBS captures the wrong device, choose the device manually here. OBS Quick Start Guide

To capture a device only in the current scene, add + → Audio Output Capture in Sources and select the intended playback device. If you use this source, disable that same device in Settings → Audio; capturing it both globally and as a source can create echo. OBS Audio Capture Sources
Use VB-Cable only if direct application capture fails
OBS documents a virtual-cable route for applications that are incompatible with Application Audio Capture. Install and configure VB-Cable according to its own instructions, then set the bhajan player’s output to CABLE Input. In OBS, add + → Audio Input Capture and select CABLE Output. Check levels and local monitoring
With the bhajans playing, watch the relevant source in the OBS Audio Mixer. Its meter should move when the player produces sound. Windows system and per-application volume controls can affect what OBS receives, so check both if the signal is absent, too quiet, or too loud. Adjust the player’s level and then make any needed OBS mixer adjustments.
Audio Monitoring is for hearing a source locally through the monitoring device configured in OBS; it is not what sends the source to viewers. Open Settings → Audio to select the monitoring device, then use the source’s mixer menu to choose a monitoring option if you want local playback. Listen to the bhajan source and, if useful, to the OBS-monitored mix. Headphones can make it easier to check the mix without room playback, but they are optional.
Test before leaving the stream running
- Start a short recording in OBS, or run a brief test stream using the intended scene and audio route.
- Listen to the recording or stream. Confirm the bhajan is audible, not doubled, and not accompanied by unwanted Windows or application sounds.
- If the result is wrong, return to the capture-route table and verify that you have only one active path for the playback device. Recheck the player’s selected output and its Windows volume.
The OBS Project’s Quick Start Guide encourages testing for a few minutes and listening to a recording before going live. A successful check confirms the audio path at the time of the test; it does not guarantee that a PC, application, or network will keep an unattended broadcast online continuously.

Set stream output for the destination platform
This audio-routing setup does not determine the correct audio encoder, bitrate, or other stream output values. Those depend on the destination platform and its current requirements, which are not specified here. Check the platform’s current guidance before changing OBS’s Settings → Output values; do not guess a bitrate based only on the fact that the stream is a bhajan.
