For a standard stereo YouTube livestream, set OBS audio to AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. To repeat the track, add it as an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. Hindi music does not have a separate bitrate setting in YouTube’s published live-encoder guidance; use the stereo settings and test the actual audio before relying on the stream.
Set OBS audio for a stereo YouTube livestream
- In OBS, open Settings → Output and locate the streaming audio bitrate control. Its exact label and placement can vary by OBS version and output mode. If you use Advanced output mode, OBS lets you configure stream and recording settings independently; make sure you are changing the streaming setting.
- Set the streaming audio encoder to AAC and the audio bitrate to 128 kbps. YouTube’s live encoder guidance recommends 128 kbps for stereo audio and lists AAC or MP3 as supported codecs. OBS documents AAC as its default, widely supported audio codec. YouTube’s live encoder settings and the OBS Studio Overview Guide describe their respective recommendations.
- Set the audio sample rate to 44.1 kHz for stereo. YouTube’s guidance gives different settings for 5.1 audio: 384 kbps and 48 kHz. A typical stereo music loop does not need 5.1.
Why YouTube’s 128 kbps target differs from OBS’s general advice
OBS’s general streaming overview suggests around 160 kbps, or a lower value when upload speed is limited. That is broad guidance, while YouTube’s encoder page gives a platform-specific stereo target of 128 kbps. For this YouTube stereo setup, use 128 kbps rather than treating the two figures as competing universal rules. Neither bitrate alone nor the track’s language guarantees a particular perceived sound quality.
Loop a Hindi music file in OBS
- In your OBS scene, add a Media Source and select the local audio file.
- In the source properties, enable Loop so the file starts again when playback reaches the end.
- OBS documents MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV as supported audio inputs. If the file does not play, confirm it is in a supported format and that the source is not muted.
OBS’s Media Sources documentation describes supported inputs and the loop property.
Test playback before going live
- Run a test with the actual music file and representative content before your first live stream. Listen through a passage that includes the track’s louder and quieter parts, and confirm it repeats without an unintended gap or interruption.
- Check that the Media Source is audible in the OBS mixer and that no other scene or source is unexpectedly muting or covering it.
- During the YouTube event, monitor stream health. YouTube recommends checking health during the event, and OBS advises testing before a first live stream. See the YouTube encoder guidance and OBS streaming guide.
Common problems and fixes
- The loop stops after one play: Reopen the Media Source properties and make sure Loop is enabled.
- YouTube does not receive audio: Check that the Media Source is not muted, its meter moves in the OBS audio mixer, and the scene is sending the intended audio to the stream.
- The bitrate setting is missing or seems to affect recordings: Confirm you are in the Output settings and editing streaming output. In Advanced mode, stream and recording settings can be configured independently; labels vary by version and mode.
- The audio sounds poor despite using 128 kbps: Bitrate is only one setting. Listen to the source itself and test the complete stream path; the published guidance does not guarantee perceptual quality for a particular recording.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a YouTube channel that keeps looping uploaded music while your computer is off, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly price is $9.99 per month. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
