Use the exchange’s Alerts or bell control: choose a coin or trading pair, select a condition, enter the threshold, set how often it may trigger, and enable push, browser, email, or desktop notifications. An alert only sends a notification; it does not place a buy or sell order.

Coinbase is the simplest watchlist-based option, Binance documents percentage and 24-hour-change conditions, Crypto.com Exchange offers one-time or repeating target alerts, Kraken Pro provides native volatility alerts, and TradingView is the most flexible choice for monitoring symbols across exchanges with chart or channel logic.

What a crypto alert can monitor

There are two useful alert families. A price alert fires when an instrument reaches a specified level, rises above it, or drops below it. A movement or volatility alert watches the size of a move rather than one absolute price. Depending on the platform, that can mean a percentage change, a 24-hour change threshold, or a chart channel boundary.

Absolute-price alerts

Use an absolute alert when a level matters to your plan—for example, when Bitcoin reaches $70,000 or when a token falls below a support level. The alert compares the market price with the number you enter.

Percentage and 24-hour-change alerts

Use a movement condition when the same percentage move matters at different prices. Binance documents “change over,” “change under,” and 24-hour-change conditions, so it can notify you about a move such as 5% when the interface presents the threshold as a percentage.

Volatility and channel alerts

Kraken Pro describes its volatility alerts as notifications of outsized price movements in markets you select. TradingView can create a similar style of alert by using channel boundaries: a notification is triggered when price reaches or crosses a boundary that you define on a chart.

Before creating an alert

  • Sign in to the correct exchange account and confirm the asset or trading pair, including the quote currency.
  • Decide whether you need a one-time notification, a repeating alert, or an alert that expires on a date.
  • Choose a threshold that is actionable. Too many closely spaced alerts can become notification noise.
  • Allow the relevant app, browser, or operating-system notifications. An alert can be correctly saved but still be invisible if delivery permission is blocked.
  • Check whether the platform limits the number of active alerts or restricts a feature by account tier or jurisdiction.

Coinbase: watchlist-based mobile price alerts

Coinbase’s mobile workflow starts with a watchlist. The documented alert is an above-or-below target-price notification for a selected stock or cryptocurrency.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the Coinbase mobile app and search for the stock or cryptocurrency.
  2. Open the asset and tap the star to add it to a watchlist.
  3. Tap the bell-plus icon, then choose Add Alert.
  4. Select Above or Below and enter the target price.
  5. Tap Save.
  6. Open Notification Settings to enable predetermined or custom alerts and choose push, in-app, and/or email delivery.

Because watchlist membership is part of the mobile workflow, add the asset to the watchlist before looking for the alert control. Coinbase’s documented feature is a notification of a price condition, not an order-entry function.

Binance limits to plan around

Kraken: price alerts and native volatility alerts

Kraken’s Alerts widget supports price alerts on both web and mobile. For traders who want movement-based monitoring rather than a single price, Kraken Pro documents volatility alerts designed to identify outsized price movements in markets of interest.

Price alerts

  1. Open the Alerts widget on Kraken web or mobile.
  2. Select the market or instrument you want to monitor.
  3. Choose the price condition and enter the threshold.
  4. Save the alert and select the available notification interface.

Volatility alerts

In Kraken Pro, open the alert controls for the market you care about and choose the volatility-alert option when it is available. Kraken documents notification through either interface or both interfaces, allowing you to use web, mobile, or both for delivery. The documentation does not state a universal alert-count or expiration limit, so check the controls in your account if you need a large alert set.

TradingView: monitor several exchanges from one workspace

TradingView is useful when you want one alerting workspace for symbols listed on different exchanges, or when you need chart-based logic beyond a single exchange’s native controls. Each alert’s primary condition must be Price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Create a basic price alert

  1. Open the chart for the symbol and venue you want to monitor.
  2. Open the alert dialog.
  3. Confirm the symbol, choose a price operator, and enter the price level.
  4. Select the trigger frequency: Once, Every time, Once per bar close, or Once per minute.
  5. Set an expiration date, or choose an open-ended setting when offered.
  6. Save the alert and enable the delivery channels available in your TradingView account.

Build a volatility-style alert with a channel

  1. Add or draw the channel that represents the upper and lower movement boundaries on the chart.
  2. In the alert dialog, keep Price as the primary condition.
  3. Set the operator to trigger when price reaches or surpasses the relevant boundary.
  4. Choose the frequency and expiration that match your plan.
  5. Create separate upper- and lower-boundary alerts if you need notifications in both directions.

Because each TradingView symbol identifies a particular market listing, add separate alerts for each exchange listing you intend to compare. This avoids treating prices from different venues as if they were one feed.

Which platform fits your alerting need?

Choose Coinbase for a small, simple watchlist

Coinbase suits someone who wants a few above-or-below price notifications from a phone and prefers a short setup path. Its watchlist requirement is easy to understand, but the documented mobile workflow is less suitable for percentage-based volatility rules.

Choose Binance for percentage and 24-hour movement rules

Binance is the clearest exchange-native choice when your rule is based on a change condition rather than one fixed price. Account for the 10-per-pair, 50-total, and 90-day limits before building a broad monitoring list.

Choose Crypto.com Exchange for one-time or repeating targets

Crypto.com Exchange is appropriate when every alert is a simple directional target and you want to decide explicitly between one notification and repeat notifications. Verify jurisdiction availability and notification permissions first.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose Kraken Pro for a native volatility signal

Kraken Pro is the most explicit native option in the supplied platform documentation for volatility alerts aimed at outsized movements. Use the Alerts widget when you also need ordinary price thresholds.

Choose TradingView for multi-venue and chart-based monitoring

TradingView is the most flexible choice when alerts must cover symbols from several exchanges or use channel boundaries and selectable trigger frequencies. It requires more chart and alert configuration than a basic exchange bell control.

Practical alert designs

Notify me when Bitcoin moves 5%

On Binance, select the Bitcoin trading pair, choose Change Over or Change Under, and enter the 5% threshold if the field is labeled as a percentage. If you need both directions, create one alert for each condition. Confirm the pair and the platform’s definition of the change field before saving.

Notify me when price reaches a planned level

Use an above or below target on Coinbase, Crypto.com Exchange, Kraken, or TradingView. Enter the level in the quote currency shown for that pair and choose a one-time frequency when you only need the first notification.

Notify me about unusually large moves without choosing a price

Use Kraken Pro’s volatility alert where available. On TradingView, define upper and lower channel boundaries and create price alerts at those boundaries. Binance’s change and 24-hour-change conditions are another option when a percentage or daily movement threshold is more useful than a chart boundary.

Monitor the same asset on several exchanges

Create a separate symbol alert for each venue in TradingView, because each listing can have its own price feed. Set the same operator and threshold only when that comparison is intentional; otherwise, use venue-specific levels that reflect the liquidity and quote currency of each market.

Troubleshooting alerts that do not arrive

The alert saved but no notification appeared

  • Check the exchange or TradingView notification settings and confirm the chosen channel is enabled.
  • On mobile, verify that the operating system allows notifications for the app.
  • On the web, allow browser notifications for the exchange or TradingView site and check that the browser is not blocking them.
  • Review the alert’s status, expiration, frequency, and selected symbol.
  • Confirm that the threshold was actually reached for the exact trading pair, not a similarly named pair with another quote currency.

The alert triggered repeatedly

  • Change the frequency to once-only where the platform offers that choice.
  • On Binance, inspect whether the selected frequency and 90-day validity match your intent.
  • On Crypto.com Exchange, switch from Repeat to Once only for a single notification.
  • On TradingView, choose Once instead of Every time, or use a bar-close frequency to reduce intrabar noise.

The volatility rule feels too noisy

  • Use a wider percentage threshold or channel so normal fluctuations do not trigger it.
  • Choose a less frequent trigger such as once per bar close where available.
  • Separate upper and lower alerts so each notification has one clear meaning.
  • Keep only alerts that lead to a defined action; delete duplicates before adding new ones.

The alert option is missing

  • On Coinbase, add the asset to the watchlist before opening the bell-plus control.
  • On Binance, confirm that the account is using Binance Pro and that you are within the documented alert limits.
  • On Crypto.com Exchange, check jurisdiction availability and browser or system permissions.
  • On Kraken, distinguish ordinary price alerts from the Kraken Pro volatility feature.
  • On TradingView, verify that the alert’s primary condition is Price and that the selected symbol supports the intended chart.

A disciplined alerting routine

  1. Write the condition in plain language first: asset, venue, direction, threshold, and intended response.
  2. Choose the least complicated platform that supports that condition.
  3. Create one test alert at a nearby level to verify delivery, then remove it after confirmation.
  4. Name alerts consistently, such as “BTC-USDT — 5% up — repeat,” so a large list remains understandable.
  5. Review expiring or repeating alerts regularly. Binance alerts require particular attention because the documented validity is 90 days.
  6. Remember that a notification is a prompt to review the market. You still decide whether to trade and must place any order through the exchange’s trading controls.
