In PRISM Live Studio Mobile, open your stream’s Video quality settings and choose a resolution and bitrate before going live. PRISM’s general recommendations are 4,000 kbps for 720p and 6,000 kbps for 1080p; these are PRISM suggestions, not verified YouTube requirements. For changing mobile connections, PRISM recommends leaving Adaptive Bitrate Publish (ABP) on, especially if you are new to streaming.
Set the stream quality before going live
PRISM’s setup flow is to select a mode, tap Ready, review the live-stream information, enter and save the required fields, and then tap Go Live. Before you start, set the stream’s video quality. The exact YouTube-specific screen path is not documented in PRISM’s available text guidance, and labels can change between app versions.
- Choose your mode and prepare the stream. In PRISM Live Studio Mobile, select the mode you want and tap Ready.
- Open video quality settings. Find the stream’s Video quality controls. PRISM identifies resolution, bitrate, frame rate, and keyframe interval as quality factors.
- Select a resolution and bitrate. Use the pairs below as PRISM’s general recommendations, adjusting for your phone and upload connection.
- Set Adaptive if appropriate. PRISM calls its adaptive option Adaptive Bitrate Publish (ABP); in the illustrated stability-guide path, tap the resolution button on the channel card, choose Video quality in the Stream Quality layer, then switch Adaptive on.
- Review the live details and start. Return to the setup flow, enter and save required live information, then tap Go Live.
PRISM documents YouTube options such as scheduling, category, DVR, stream latency, and license settings, but the exact location and wording of each control may vary by app version.
Choose a resolution and bitrate
Resolution affects image detail; frame rate affects how smoothly motion appears; bitrate determines how much video data the connection must send. Higher settings can demand more from both the phone and its upload connection. PRISM’s official mobile guide gives these general pairs:

| Resolution | PRISM’s suggested bitrate | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| 720p | 4,000 kbps | A practical starting point when 1080p is unstable or the phone or connection is constrained. |
| 1080p | 6,000 kbps | Use when the phone can encode reliably and the upload connection has steady headroom. |
PRISM’s guide also lists 360p among supported resolutions. It describes 30 or 60 fps as common frame rates and a two-second keyframe interval as typical for optimal streaming performance. The cited guide does not establish a current YouTube bitrate table by frame rate, codec, or geography, so do not treat the suggested bitrates or keyframe interval as YouTube-specific mandates.
If a stream struggles, reduce resolution or frame rate in stages rather than changing everything at once. Under similar conditions, PRISM says 720p is typically more stable than 1080p, and 30 fps more stable than 60 fps. This can help identify whether the limiting factor is encoding load or connection capacity.

Adaptive bitrate or a fixed bitrate?
ABP responds to network conditions by adjusting video quality. PRISM recommends leaving it enabled for novice streamers. Its stability guide says ABP can preserve the selected resolution while reducing video quality and data volume to make transmission more reliable; on a weak connection, viewers may still see poor quality.
With Adaptive off, PRISM lists these variable video-chunk bandwidth ranges. They are figures from PRISM’s guide, not a measurement of your network or a guarantee of service.

PRISM says the network should exceed the applicable capacity and recommends at least twice the specified network bandwidth for high-quality streaming. Since mobile upload conditions fluctuate, available headroom matters as much as a speed-test result. PRISM recommends Wi-Fi where possible and emphasizes upload bandwidth because the phone sends the video to YouTube.
- Prefer Adaptive when your connection varies or you are unsure how much stable upload headroom is available.
- Consider fixed quality only when you have a reason to control the setting and a reliably strong upload connection.
- Reduce load first by lowering frame rate or resolution if the phone heats up, encoding falters, or the stream repeatedly becomes unstable.
Codec note for iPhone users
PRISM’s iOS guidance says H.265/HEVC is applied automatically only when streaming to YouTube alone; when multi-streaming, the app automatically uses H.264. This statement is specific to iOS and should not be assumed to describe Android behavior.

Troubleshoot unstable or poor-quality streams
| What you notice | Likely issue | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Stream disconnects or quality swings as you move | Unstable mobile upload connection. | Use Wi-Fi where possible, enable Adaptive, and try a lower resolution or frame rate. |
| 1080p is unreliable but lower settings work | The phone or network may not sustain the higher workload. | Try 720p and, if needed, 30 fps instead of 60 fps. |
| Viewers report low detail despite a stable stream | ABP may be reducing quality in response to limited network conditions. | Check that upload bandwidth is steady and has headroom; avoid forcing a fixed setting the connection cannot sustain. |
| Settings appear under a different label or place | PRISM’s interface may differ by app version or platform. | Look for the stream’s Video quality control; in PRISM’s illustrated stability path, use the channel-card resolution button, then Stream Quality and Video quality. |
