You can set a Bitcoin (BTC) price alert on Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, or Crypto.com by opening the BTC market, selecting the bell or alert control, defining a price or market condition, saving it, and allowing notifications on your device. An alert only sends a notice; it does not place a trade. The exact controls, trigger choices, limits, and regional availability differ by exchange.
How Bitcoin price alerts work
A price alert is a saved condition monitored by an exchange. When the condition is met, the exchange attempts to deliver a push, in-app, email, browser, or desktop notification, depending on the service and your settings. The common workflow is:
- Open the Bitcoin asset page or BTC trading pair.
- Tap or click the bell, alert, or notification control.
- Choose a condition, such as price rising above a target or falling below it.
- Enter the target price and any frequency or expiry option.
- Save the alert.
- Allow notifications in the exchange and in your phone, browser, or operating system.
Alerts are useful when you want to monitor a level without leaving a chart open. They are not stop orders, limit orders, or automated trading instructions. Coinbase states this explicitly: “Price alerts are only notifications that an asset has reached a certain price. They do not place an order for that asset.”
Prepare your account and device first
Sign in to the correct product
Some exchanges have separate retail, Pro, futures, web, and mobile interfaces. Use the product named in the instructions for your exchange. Binance’s documented mobile workflow is in Binance Pro. Kraken distinguishes web and mobile alert setup, and its futures alerts can behave differently from spot alerts.

Enable the notification channels you need
- Phone: In the operating system’s app-notification settings, allow the exchange to send notifications. On iPhone and Android, also check Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery-saver, and lock-screen settings.
- Browser: When a web exchange asks for notification permission, choose Allow. If you previously blocked it, change the permission for that exchange in the browser’s site settings.
- Desktop: Allow notifications for the browser or desktop application and verify that system notification banners and sounds are enabled.
- Exchange account: Enable the exchange’s push, in-app, email, or browser options where available.
Saving an alert does not override a blocked device or browser permission. If delivery matters, create a test alert at a level Bitcoin can reach quickly, confirm that it arrives, and then replace it with your intended target.
Decide what the alert should mean
Use an absolute price when a specific BTC level matters, such as a planned review point. Use a percentage or 24-hour-change condition when you want to react to market movement rather than one fixed number. If an exchange offers a “once” option, use it for a single decision; use a repeating option when you want recurring notifications and are prepared for multiple messages.
Set a Bitcoin alert on Coinbase
Coinbase mobile steps
- Open the Coinbase app and search for Bitcoin.
- Select Bitcoin to open its asset page.
- Tap the star to add Bitcoin to your watchlist. Coinbase says only watchlisted assets send a price alert.
- Tap the bell-plus icon.
- Choose Add Alert.
- Choose whether the alert should trigger when the price moves above or below your target.
- Enter the target price and save the alert.
The watchlist requirement is easy to miss: an alert configured for an asset that is not on the watchlist may not operate as expected. Confirm that the star remains selected after you save the alert.

Open Account & Settings > Notification Settings. Enable the delivery channels you want: push, in-app, email, or a combination. Then confirm the Coinbase app has permission in your phone’s system settings. If you use email, check spam and filtering rules for the address attached to your account.

What Coinbase alerts do not do
A Coinbase price alert is informational. It does not submit a market order, limit order, stop order, or any other transaction when BTC reaches the target. You must return to Coinbase and place a trade yourself if that is your decision.
Set a Bitcoin alert on Binance
Binance Pro mobile steps
- Open Binance Pro and select Markets.
- Search for the BTC trading pair you want to monitor, such as the pair displayed in your account’s market list.
- Tap the Alert icon.
- Select an alert type.
- Enter the target and choose the alert frequency.
- Tap the control to create or save the alert.
Binance documents these mobile trigger types:
- Price reaches a specified value.
- Price rises above a specified value.
- Price drops below a specified value.
- Percentage change.
- 24-hour change.
Binance desktop steps
- Open Binance on the desktop interface.
- Select the Alerts icon.
- Choose to create an alert.
- Select the market and trading pair.
- Choose the condition and set the time or frequency options shown.
- Save the alert.
The desktop and mobile labels can change as Binance updates its interface. If you do not see an alert icon on a market page, open the main Alerts area instead and select the pair there.
Binance limits and expiry
Binance Support, updated January 6, 2026, lists a maximum of 10 alerts per trading pair and 50 alerts total. Each alert is valid for 90 days. A long-term BTC level therefore requires renewal after expiry, and a full alert list requires deleting an existing alert before adding another. These limits apply to the documented alert feature; other notification or automation products may have separate rules.

Binance requires notification permission in the phone or desktop settings. Check both the exchange’s notification controls and the operating system’s permission panel. A saved alert that has reached its condition but cannot display notifications may appear to be broken when the real problem is a blocked device, browser, or desktop permission.

Set a Bitcoin alert on Kraken
Kraken web steps
- Open Kraken’s Market Alerts area.
- Enable browser notifications when prompted, or allow them in the browser’s site settings.
- Select Create new alert.
- Choose the BTC market, condition, target, and any frequency options presented.
- Save the alert.
Kraken says the price-alert notification setting is on by default once you create the actual alert. That setting does not replace browser permission: the browser and operating system must still allow notifications.
Kraken mobile steps
- Install or open the Kraken mobile app.
- Enable Kraken Pro push notifications in the phone’s system settings.
- Enable push notifications inside the Kraken app.
- Open Market Alerts and create an alert for the BTC market.
- Set the condition and target, then save.
Spot and futures behavior
Kraken notes that spot alerts can link back to the relevant market. Futures alerts may not link to the proper markets page, so you might need to navigate to the futures market manually after receiving the notification. Check that you are creating the alert for the product you intend to trade rather than assuming a spot alert and a futures alert are interchangeable.
Set a Bitcoin alert on Crypto.com Exchange
Crypto.com Exchange web steps
- Sign in to Crypto.com Exchange.
- Choose Trade, then select the bell icon.
- If prompted, choose Enable Now to turn on browser notifications.
- Select the BTC trading pair.
- Choose Price rises above or Price drops below.
- Enter the target price.
- Choose Once only or Repeat.
- Set the alert.
Allow notifications in the browser and in the operating system. If you previously denied permission, change the browser’s site-specific notification setting before trying to enable the feature again.
Crypto.com Exchange app steps
In the app, open Market and tap the bell, or open Trade, tap the ellipsis (…), and choose Price Alerts. Select the BTC pair, define whether price should rise above or drop below the target, choose the available frequency, and save.

Jurisdiction availability
The Crypto.com Help Center article published May 29, 2025, says alerts may not be available in certain jurisdictions. If the bell, Price Alerts option, or Enable Now control is missing, availability for your location or account product may be the reason. Do not assume that changing from web to app will bypass a regional restriction.

Use separate levels for separate decisions
Instead of placing many alerts close together, assign each level a purpose. For example, one alert can mark a level where you want to review a purchase plan, another can mark a level where you would reassess risk, and a third can notify you of a sharp move. The exchange will only notify you; write down the action you intend to consider so a notification does not become an impulsive trade.
Pick the right direction
- Rises above: Use when an upward breakout or recovery matters.
- Drops below: Use when a support level, risk threshold, or review point matters.
- Reaches: Use when touching an exact level is the event you care about.
- Percentage or 24-hour change: Use when volatility matters more than one absolute BTC price; Binance documents both types.
Choose once-only versus repeating carefully
A once-only alert reduces duplicate notifications after the first trigger. A repeating alert is useful for an ongoing watch, but it can generate multiple messages as price moves around a threshold. Crypto.com Exchange explicitly offers Once only and Repeat; other exchanges may present frequency choices with different labels.

Troubleshoot an alert that does not arrive
The alert was never saved
- Reopen the alert list and confirm the BTC pair, condition, target, and status.
- On Coinbase, verify that Bitcoin is still starred in the watchlist.
- On Binance, check that the alert has not reached the 90-day expiry or the 10-per-pair and 50-total limits.
- On Crypto.com Exchange, verify that the feature is available for your jurisdiction and product.
The exchange saved it, but the device is silent
- Enable the exchange app’s notifications in the phone’s system settings.
- Disable a Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery, or background-data rule that suppresses the app.
- For web alerts, allow notifications for the exact exchange domain in the browser.
- Check whether the phone, browser, or desktop is signed in to the account that created the alert.
The alert fired at an unexpected time
- Confirm the selected BTC trading pair. Different quote currencies produce different numerical targets.
- Check whether the condition was “above,” “below,” “reaches,” percentage change, or 24-hour change.
- Review the alert frequency and time settings, especially on Binance desktop.
- Remember that exchange prices can differ slightly between markets and products; an alert follows the market or pair selected when it was created.
The notification links to the wrong place
Kraken specifically warns that futures alerts may not link to the proper markets page. Open the futures section and select the pair manually if the link lands elsewhere. For any exchange, verify the product (spot, margin, or futures) before acting on a notification.
Manage, edit, and remove alerts safely
Use the exchange’s alert list or alert-management screen to review active conditions. Remove obsolete levels so a crowded list does not hide the alert you actually need. On Binance, deleting old alerts also frees capacity when you reach the 10-per-pair or 50-total limits. On Coinbase, keep the asset watchlisted for as long as you need its price notifications.
When you change a target, confirm the direction and pair again before saving. A small difference between “price reaches” and “price rises above” can change when the notification is generated, particularly if the market is moving quickly.
Important limits of exchange notifications
- Alerts are not execution: None of these documented workflows automatically buys or sells Bitcoin.
- Delivery is not guaranteed: Network outages, maintenance, disabled permissions, background restrictions, and email filtering can delay or prevent a message.
- Market selection matters: An alert belongs to the asset, market, or pair selected during setup. Recheck the quote currency and product type.
- Rules can change: Interfaces, limits, and regional availability are updated. Coinbase’s guidance was accessed October 19, 2026; Binance’s cited support page was updated January 6, 2026; and Crypto.com’s cited article was published May 29, 2025. Recheck the current in-product help or alert screen when the setting is important.
For a critical threshold, use an alert as an attention signal rather than as your only safeguard. Keep the exchange app updated, maintain a second way to check the market, and decide in advance what you will do after the notification arrives.
