Set the title when you’re going live now

In Talk Studio, click Go Live.

If YouTube isn’t connected, choose Add Destination, select YouTube, sign in, and grant Talk Studio access.

Select YouTube as the destination and choose a visibility setting: public, private, or unlisted.

Continue to the stream details screen. Enter the title, description, and category, then click Go Live when ready. Streamlabs’ Talk Studio Getting Started guide and YouTube browser-streaming tutorial document these fields in the immediate Go Live flow.

Add a thumbnail before going live by scheduling

In Talk Studio, choose Schedule.

Select YouTube as the destination and fill in the scheduled broadcast details, including the title, description, date, and time.

Use the thumbnail field in the scheduling form to add your image, then complete the scheduling flow. Streamlabs’ Talk Studio Broadcast Scheduling guide documents the thumbnail field and says YouTube creates an event link for a scheduled stream.

Use YouTube Studio if you need to edit a thumbnail
YouTube’s custom-thumbnail instructions describe uploading a thumbnail in YouTube Studio: open the relevant item in Content, open its details, choose Upload file under Thumbnail, and save. That help page covers video thumbnails generally; it does not guarantee that every live event created through Talk Studio exposes identical editing controls. If the scheduled stream is not available in the expected screen, use Talk Studio’s documented Schedule flow or check the current YouTube Live Control Room controls.

YouTube custom-thumbnail uploads require a verified account. Streamlabs also says channel verification is required for live streaming and custom thumbnails, and warns verification may take up to 24 hours. See the Streamlabs YouTube tutorial and YouTube’s thumbnail help.

YouTube recommends JPG or PNG, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a resolution up to 3840 × 2160 pixels, with a minimum width of 640 pixels. Its help page states a 50 MB maximum for desktop uploads. Limits can vary by platform or account, so follow the validation shown in your current upload screen.

Custom thumbnails must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines. YouTube notes that a thumbnail change may take time to appear.

Check whether you chose Go Live or Schedule. The immediate Go Live guides list title, description, and category; the scheduling guide explicitly lists a thumbnail field.

Confirm that your channel is verified. YouTube custom-thumbnail eligibility depends on verification, and Streamlabs says verification may take up to 24 hours.

Try the scheduled-stream form or current YouTube controls. YouTube Studio’s general video-thumbnail procedure may not match every live event created by a third-party tool. Use Talk Studio’s Schedule flow or check the current Live Control Room if the event is not available in YouTube Studio’s expected editing screen.

Allow time for the change to appear. YouTube says custom-thumbnail changes can take time to show.
