To send website screenshots to Telegram with n8n, build a workflow that starts on a schedule, webhook, or manual trigger; captures the target page as an image; and passes that image to Telegram’s Message → Send Photo operation. You’ll need a Telegram bot token, a destination the bot can access, and a screenshot step that returns binary image data, an image URL, or a Telegram file ID. The workflow is not India-specific; the official n8n and Telegram materials describe a general setup.
How the workflow fits together
There are three separate jobs: decide when the workflow runs, render the webpage into an image, then send that image to Telegram. n8n’s official template listing describes this exact use case as creating a website screenshot and sending it to a Telegram channel, but it is a starting point—not proof that every capture provider or n8n version uses identical settings. - Trigger: Use a Schedule Trigger for recurring captures, a Webhook Trigger when an outside event should start the workflow, or a Manual Trigger while setting it up.
- Capture: Add a browser-based or screenshot-service step that renders the target URL and produces an image.
- Send: Configure the Telegram node for Resource: Message and Operation: Send Photo. Connect the screenshot output in the format selected by the node.
The capture step is independent of Telegram. Before wiring the nodes together, identify whether it produces image bytes (binary data), a publicly reachable HTTP image URL, or a Telegram file ID. The Send Photo node supports these different input modes; the correct field depends on the mode you choose.
Prepare the Telegram bot and destination
Create a bot and credential
- In Telegram, create a bot through BotFather and obtain its bot access token.
- In n8n, create a Telegram credential using that token, following the Telegram credential documentation.
- Keep the token secret. Store it in the n8n credential rather than in workflow text, a shared export, or a tutorial screenshot.
Choose a channel or group
- Channel: Add the bot to the channel so it can send messages. For a public channel, the destination can be its
@channelusername. The n8n node documentation notes channel membership as a prerequisite for most message operations. - Group: Use the group’s Chat ID, not a channel username. n8n documents retrieving a chat ID with the Telegram Trigger and describes other lookup options in its chat ID guide.
- First run: Send to a private test chat or test channel the bot can access before changing the destination to a shared channel or group.
Build the screenshot-to-Telegram workflow
1. Add the trigger
For an automated recurring post, configure a Schedule Trigger for the cadence you need. For an event-driven capture, start with a Webhook Trigger and connect the system that should initiate it. For an initial check, use a Manual Trigger. The official template confirms the overall screenshot-to-Telegram pattern but does not establish one trigger as correct for all use cases.

2. Configure page capture
Add a browser or screenshot-service node between the trigger and Telegram. Set the target URL and any needed rendering options, then confirm the output type. If the page relies on JavaScript, needs time to render, requires authentication, or changes with viewport size, account for those requirements in the capture step. These are possible site-specific factors, not guarantees that any particular page will have them.
Inspect the node output once before configuring Telegram: note the binary property name if it returned bytes, or copy the exact URL or file ID if that is what it returned. A screenshot step that finishes without producing a usable image cannot be repaired by the Telegram node.

3. Add Telegram Send Photo
- Add the Telegram node, choose Resource: Message and Operation: Send Photo, then select the credential created with the bot token.
- Enter the destination Chat ID, or the public channel username in the channel case.
- If the capture output is binary image data, enable Binary File and set the binary property to the incoming image field’s exact name.
- If using a Telegram file ID or HTTP image URL instead, supply it in the photo field using the corresponding input mode. For an HTTP URL, ensure Telegram can reach it; a private local URL is not an accessible public image.
- Optionally add a caption. The n8n node documentation specifies a maximum caption length of 1,024 characters and includes notification, parse-mode, reply, and forum-thread options.
- Run the workflow against your test destination and verify that the delivered photo is the expected page and viewport.

Troubleshooting
No image arrives
- Check that the capture node returned an image rather than an error or empty result.
- For binary mode, confirm that Binary File is enabled and the property name exactly matches the capture node’s output.
- For URL mode, make sure the image URL is reachable by Telegram; for file-ID mode, check that the value is a valid Telegram file ID.
- Confirm that the Telegram node is using the intended credential and destination.
Channel posting fails
Confirm the bot has been added to the channel and that the destination is the intended public channel username or other configured channel address. Channel membership is a prerequisite called out in n8n’s Telegram node documentation.

Group destination fails
Use the group Chat ID. @channelusername is for public channels, not groups; use n8n’s Telegram Trigger or its chat-ID guidance to identify the group destination.
The screenshot looks blank or unlike the page in a browser
Check whether the page needs authentication, client-side rendering time, a different viewport, or additional waiting before capture. A page may also block automated requests. The right remedy depends on the capture step and the target site; the cited n8n template does not specify a provider or universal rendering settings.

The caption or message options behave differently than expected
Review the Send Photo node’s caption length, parse mode, notification, reply, and forum-thread settings. A caption over the documented 1,024-character maximum will not fit the node’s stated limit.
