If you need to retain a result, map a field the API actually returns into an Airtable create or update action. The endpoint, authentication, request format, response, and any polling steps depend on the provider; there is no universal screenshot API payload.
Choose the workflow shape
Make’s HTTP app is intended to connect to API services that do not have a Make integration. Its Make a request module supports methods including GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, and DELETE, with configuration for authentication, headers, and query parameters. The selected screenshot API’s documentation—not a generic recipe—determines which method and fields to use. Make’s HTTP documentation explains the module and its request options.
- Use a native Make action if its inputs and output fit the capture you need. Make lists screenshot-related actions for GetScreenshot and HTML to Image API; the latter is described as capturing a website or webpage from a URL.
- Use HTTP Make a request when you need to call a provider’s documented API endpoint directly or no suitable native action is available.
Make’s integration catalog lists Airtable record triggers and actions, as well as HTTP Make a request. These listings establish that the integrations exist; they do not establish comparative quality, speed, pricing, or reliability for the screenshot services. See the Airtable and HTTP integration listing, the GetScreenshot and Airtable listing, and the HTML to Image API and Airtable listing.
Prepare Airtable records and access
For a clear workflow, consider using an Airtable table with a website URL field, a processing-status field, and—if the API returns something worth keeping—an output field for a screenshot URL, file reference, or job identifier. Those are practical field suggestions, not required Airtable field names.

Connect Airtable to Make with a Personal Access Token and grant only the scopes needed for the actions in your scenario. Make lists data.records:read, data.records:write, and schema.bases:read as commonly required scopes. A read-and-capture workflow may need fewer permissions than one that also creates or updates records. Store the token in Make’s connection credentials; do not put it in a normal Airtable field or map it into the screenshot request. See Make’s Airtable connection documentation for its token setup.
Build the scenario in Make
- Add an Airtable starting module. Choose a record-watching, search, or other available trigger pattern that matches when you want captures to run. A scheduled watch and a search-based scenario have different run behavior; choose based on your table and desired timing.
- Add the screenshot operation. Select a native screenshot action if it accepts the URL and capture options you need. Otherwise, add HTTP → Make a request.
- Configure the provider request from its API reference. Set the exact endpoint, HTTP method, authentication, headers, query parameters or body, and any capture options required by that provider. Make’s HTTP module supports these types of request configuration, but no single endpoint or payload works for every screenshot service.
- Map the Airtable URL. In the provider’s documented URL input, insert the URL value from the Airtable module’s output bundle. Do not guess a parameter name such as
url; confirm the exact name and location in the chosen API’s documentation. - Decide what to write back. If the response includes a useful URL, file reference, identifier, or status, add an Airtable create/update action and map the actual returned value to the appropriate field. Inspect the response first rather than assuming it contains a final image URL.
- Run one representative test. Use a public page representative of your records, then inspect the execution bundle in Make to confirm the mapped input and actual response before enabling the scenario broadly.
Handle responses, errors, and asynchronous jobs
Screenshot APIs differ in what they return. A response might provide image data, a downloadable URL, an identifier, or a job that must be checked later; the available Make integration listings do not establish a generic response shape or asynchronous pattern. Follow the selected provider’s documentation and map only fields present in its actual response.

Make’s HTTP documentation includes an advanced setting that controls whether 4xx and 5xx responses cause the request to return an error. Choose error behavior deliberately, then decide how the scenario should mark a record as failed, retry it, or leave it for review. If the API documents asynchronous jobs, implement its specified status-check or polling sequence instead of treating the initial response as a completed screenshot.
Choose between a native action and HTTP
| Decision point | Native Make action | HTTP Make a request |
|---|---|---|
| Request setup | Use the action’s available inputs and connection setup. | Configure the endpoint, method, authentication, headers, and parameters or body required by the provider. |
| Capture requirements | Suitable when the action exposes the URL and capture options you need. | Suitable when the provider documents options or request behavior not exposed by the native action. |
| Response handling | Inspect the action’s output bundle before mapping it to Airtable. | Inspect the HTTP response and map only documented, returned fields. |
| Service evaluation | The Make listing confirms the action exists, not its comparative quality or reliability. | The provider’s API reference establishes its request contract; the cited Make documentation does not rank providers. |
Common problems and fixes
- The request reaches the API but no screenshot is produced: verify the endpoint, method, and required URL field against that provider’s API reference. The Airtable value must be mapped into the provider’s exact documented input.
- Authentication fails: check the provider’s required authentication format and the credential configured in Make. Keep Airtable’s Personal Access Token in the Airtable connection rather than sending it to the screenshot provider.
- The output field is empty or maps incorrectly: inspect the execution bundle to see whether the response contains a URL, image data, identifier, or job status, then map the field actually returned.
- A record appears complete before its image is ready: check whether the selected API is asynchronous. If it is, implement the provider’s documented job-status or polling flow before writing a completed status to Airtable.
- 4xx or 5xx responses stop or pass through unexpectedly: review the HTTP module’s advanced option for treating these responses as errors, then configure the scenario’s error handling to match your desired failure and retry process.
- The scenario processes records at an unsuitable time or pattern: revise the Airtable watch/search trigger to match the intended schedule and record-selection behavior.
Costs and reliability: what to check
The Make and integration pages cited here do not establish a screenshot provider’s current price, service limits, capture speed, image quality, or reliability. Check the chosen provider’s own current API documentation and plan terms for limits, billing behavior, retries, and any job or timeout requirements. At the workflow level, test representative URLs and decide how to record failures so one unsuccessful capture does not silently look like a successful one.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. For Make, call its documented endpoint using the HTTP module; the API returns a screenshot in PNG, JPEG, or WebP, or a PDF. The response identifies page verdict and billing status with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Cookie banners are accepted as a visitor and more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. Plans include 1,000 screenshots a month free with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000; every feature is on every plan.
Use the API’s documented parameter names in Make’s HTTP module. Here is a runnable cURL example that saves a WebP capture of Stripe; replace the key and target URL as needed. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I store the screenshot itself in Airtable?
That depends on what the selected screenshot action or API returns and what your Airtable setup accepts. Inspect the response and verify the destination field’s supported input before designing the write-back step.

Can Make capture every Airtable record automatically?
Airtable watch and search patterns are listed in Make, but the exact trigger choice and run timing depend on your table and scenario configuration.
