If a video will not send as a text attachment, send a Google Photos link when the recipient is elsewhere, or use Quick Share when they are nearby. For an offline handoff, copy the file to compatible USB storage or transfer it through a computer. The best option depends on internet access, recipient distance, video size, and how tightly you need to control access.
Choose a method that fits the situation

Send a Google Photos link to someone who is elsewhere
A link lets the text carry a way to view the video rather than the video file itself. Google Photos backup needs an internet connection and available Google Account storage. Google documents a maximum video size of 10 GB per video for backup; that is a service ceiling, not a guarantee that a particular file will upload, since available account storage also matters. - Open Google Photos and select the video.
- Tap Share and choose the link-sharing option, or share with the intended person by following the app’s prompts.
- Send the resulting link in your text conversation.
- Before relying on the link, confirm the video has backed up and that your Google Account has enough storage.
Consider who can use the link
A shared link is a bearer link: anyone who receives it may share it onward. Google Photos Help describes it this way: “A shared link is a URL that people can’t guess on their own. After a link is created, it can be shared by others.” For more limited access, share with named accounts where suitable. You can also turn link sharing off after the recipient has access; turning it off and on again resets the link. Review Google Photos sharing and privacy controls.
Use Quick Share for a nearby recipient
Quick Share can transfer a video directly to a nearby compatible Android device, Chromebook, or selected Windows PC. The recipient generally needs to accept the transfer. - Open the video and tap Share, then Quick Share.
- Select the nearby device. If it does not appear, ask the recipient to open Quick Share in Receive mode and make sure their screen is unlocked.
- Keep the devices nearby while the transfer starts; the recipient accepts the request.
- After the transfer, the recipient can open the saved video on their device.

Check RCS before trying the text again
If the file may fit your messaging setup, inspect the media-quality choice in Google Messages. Google describes HD Optimized for chat as faster and lower in data use, and HD+ Original as full media resolution. Carriers compress MMS messages, which can affect image quality. Google does not give one universal attachment-size limit in its help, so changing RCS or MMS settings cannot be assumed to make a particular video send. See Google Messages media settings.

Use USB storage or a computer for an offline handoff
Copy the video to USB storage
Files by Google can browse, copy, and move files on USB storage on Android 7.0 or later. Whether a drive works depends on the phone’s port and accessory compatibility; Google’s help does not identify the connector for any particular phone. Check the phone and drive before buying or borrowing storage. Instructions are in Files by Google USB storage help.
Copy the video through a computer
Connect the Android phone to a Windows computer or Chromebook with a USB cable, unlock the phone, choose File Transfer when prompted, then copy the video. Not every USB cable supports data transfer. Follow Google’s Android USB transfer instructions.

Why a video may still fail to send
- The attachment is too large for the current route. App, carrier, region, device, and RCS-versus-MMS settings can affect messaging. The cited Google Messages help does not establish a single limit.
- Photos cannot back it up. Google Photos requires internet and sufficient shared Google Account storage, and its documented per-video backup ceiling is 10 GB.
- The recipient is not reachable through Quick Share. The devices need to be nearby, and the receiving device must be discoverable.
- The offline accessory is incompatible. Check the phone’s port and the drive or cable’s data-transfer support before relying on a physical transfer.
