Build a Zap with three steps: a trigger, a webpage-screenshot action, and a Slack channel-message action. Zapier documents this workflow for daily screenshots using Schedule by Zapier, HTML to Image, and Slack. You can replace the schedule trigger with an event trigger if you want a screenshot after another app event instead.
Set up the Zapier-to-Slack workflow
- Connect Slack. In Zapier, add Slack from the Apps area, authenticate with Slack, and grant the requested access. Zapier says a Slack account is required. A managed or restricted workspace may require an owner or admin to install Zapier; Zapier also notes a 10-app total limit for free Slack workspaces. See Zapier’s Slack setup instructions.
- Choose a trigger. For a recurring snapshot, use Schedule by Zapier and select its Every Day trigger. Zapier’s documented daily template uses this pattern. For an event-driven capture, select an appropriate trigger available in the connected apps; the trigger determines when the later screenshot and Slack steps run.
- Add the screenshot action. Choose HTML to Image and enter the webpage URL. Its Zapier listing includes settings for full-page capture, wait time in seconds, and image quality. Use full-page capture when you need content below the initial viewport; add wait time if page content needs time to render. Choose quality for how the image will be viewed in Slack. The HTML to Image integration listing describes the available fields.
- Add the Slack message action. Choose the channel-message action, select the destination channel, and map the screenshot output offered by the Zap editor into the message step. Run the Zap test and inspect the message in the actual channel. The referenced documentation establishes the action sequence but does not specify a universal output-field mapping or whether the result arrives as an uploaded file or a link, so verify the behavior in your own Zap.
Choose the right capture action
HTML to Image is the capture service in Zapier’s documented daily screenshot template. If you need different controls, Zapier also lists GetScreenshot actions for website screenshots and advanced website-element screenshots. The element action is useful only if you know the element’s selector. Compare actions against what you need to capture and whether their output can be mapped into your Slack step.
Zapier’s GetScreenshot listing says Zaps with three or more steps require a Starter plan. Check your current account and plan before relying on this requirement, since plan terms and action catalogs can change. See GetScreenshot’s Zapier listing.
Test and troubleshoot
- The Zap cannot connect to Slack: Reconnect Slack in Zapier and complete the requested authorization. If the workspace restricts app installation, ask its owner or admin for help.
- The screenshot misses content: Enable full-page capture for content below the viewport. If the page renders content after it first loads, increase the screenshot action’s wait setting and test again.
- The message arrives without the expected screenshot: Reopen the Slack action, review the fields available in the Zap editor, and map the screenshot action’s output. Test in the destination channel; file-versus-link delivery is not established as universal by the available Zapier documentation.
- The Zap cannot be published or run with all steps: Check whether your account plan supports the number of steps and the selected actions. The GetScreenshot listing specifies Starter for Zaps of three or more steps; verify current terms in Zapier.

Does Zapier always upload the screenshot as a Slack file?
The referenced Zapier pages do not establish a universal delivery format. Test the mapped output in your destination channel to see whether your setup sends an image or a link.
