If something looks wrong, use that trip’s Help section to report it. Then reset your password, enable two-step verification, and report unexplained charges or account changes through Uber’s Help flows.
Review recent Uber trips
- Open the Uber app menu and select Your Trips. Menu labels can vary by app version or region.
- Select a trip to inspect its details and receipt.
- If you spot a problem, open that trip’s Help section and choose the relevant issue category to submit trip-specific feedback.
Uber says rider support operates 24/7 and aims to reply within 24 hours; that is a stated service goal, not a guaranteed response time. See Uber’s trip-support guidance.
Look for signs of account compromise
Review your trip history, receipts, and account details for activity you did not authorize. Uber identifies these as possible warning signs:
- Trip requests or completed trips you did not make.
- Receipts you do not recognize.
- Unexpected calls or texts from a driver about a pickup you did not request.
- Changes to your account, payment profile, password, or email that you did not make.
A notification that account information changed without your action is a reason to check your details and reset your password. These signs merit investigation, but do not by themselves establish how or whether an account was accessed. Uber’s hacked-account guidance lists warning signs and recovery options.

Secure access to your account
Reset your password
If you can still sign in, follow the password-reset flow in Uber Help and choose a new, unique password that you do not reuse on other services. Uber recommends unique passwords; a password manager is an optional way to create, store, and update them. Start with Uber’s account-security help or read Uber’s password guidance.
Enable two-step verification
- Open Uber account management.
- Select Security, then 2-step verification.
- Follow the prompts to choose SMS or a security app and finish setup.
- Store the backup codes somewhere safe. Each code can be used once.
Uber describes the feature this way: “When 2-step verification is enabled, you will be challenged with two security challenges each time you sign in to your Uber account.” The methods have different availability: SMS requires access to the registered phone and reception, while a security app can generate codes offline. Backup codes provide a one-time fallback. Read Uber’s setup instructions.

Report suspicious trips, charges, or account changes
Suspicious trip
Open the trip under Your Trips, then use its Help section to submit the issue. This routes the report to the trip-specific support options.
Unrecognized charge
Check your Uber order history first. Consider whether someone with access to your payment information or a linked account made the purchase. If the charge is still unexplained, use Uber’s unrecognized-charge support route.

Some pending authorization holds may be voided within a few business days, depending on the bank. A temporary hold is one possible explanation, not an assumption to apply to every unfamiliar charge.
Can’t sign in
If you cannot access the account, use Uber’s account-recovery or hacked-account Help flow. Uber’s published guidance describes support routes, but does not guarantee a particular recovery result.

Avoid fake Uber support and login pages
Uber warns about unexpected calls or messages claiming to be support, credit offers requesting personal information, and links to fake login pages. Do not share your password or login codes over email, text, or phone, and do not send your Social Security number through those channels. Before entering an Uber password on a website, check that the address is on uber.com. Review Uber’s account-safety tips.
