Search Chrome history by site or keyword on a computer

Open Chrome and select More (the three-dot menu) in the top-right corner.

Select History, then History again.

Enter a site name, domain, or remembered keyword in the History search bar.

Select the matching page in the results to reopen it.

Google’s Chrome Help also documents an address-bar shortcut: type @history, press Tab or Space, enter keywords for the page, and select a result.
Browse Chrome history by date
On the desktop History page, select By date to browse visits chronologically. This is useful when you remember roughly when you visited a page but not its title or address. Chrome also offers a By group view, while the History search bar is better suited to a remembered site or word.

The reviewed Google documentation does not describe entering an arbitrary date or custom date range as a History search query, so use the date view to browse rather than assuming you can search for any exact date.
Use AI-powered History search for a description
Chrome has an optional AI-powered History search that can find pages from everyday-language descriptions when you do not remember the exact keyword or address. Google says it is available only to users in the United States using Chrome in English. It offers preset filters for Yesterday, Last 7 days, and Last 30 days; Google’s documentation does not describe a custom date range for this feature.

Only visits from after you turn on the feature may be used for AI matches.

Managed profiles may have the feature disabled.

When enabled, it stores visited-page contents locally in addition to page titles and URLs. Google says the contents are encrypted to the device and that the feature might affect Chrome performance.

Because it stores page contents locally, consider that trade-off before enabling the feature if you prefer not to keep that additional data on your device. Google says you can turn it off in Chrome settings.
Why a page may not appear in History
Google Chrome Help says the History list covers pages visited in the last 90 days. It excludes Chrome pages such as chrome://settings, pages visited in Incognito, and entries deleted from browsing history. If you are signed in and history sync is enabled, History may also show pages visited on your other synced devices.

On a managed Chromebook, a work or school administrator can turn off browsing history, in which case there may be no visited-page list in History. If the page is outside the documented History window, was visited in Incognito, or was deleted, the ordinary History search and date view will not show it.

Google’s Android instructions document opening Chrome’s More menu and tapping History to view entries. The Android help page reviewed does not document the desktop History search bar, By date view, or @history shortcut, so do not assume those desktop controls are available in the same form on Android.
Chrome History is different from Google Account activity
Chrome’s browsing History and Google Account activity are separate records. Google says Search history can be managed separately in your account, and My Activity may save some searches and websites depending on your account settings and whether the service supports saving that activity. If you cannot find a visit in Chrome History, first decide whether you are looking for the browser’s visit list or activity saved to your Google Account; one is not a guaranteed substitute for the other.
