Preserve the selected state, renewal terms, currency, and capture date so the screenshot does not imply that one price applies to a different plan or variant.
Prepare the product page before you capture it
- Open the exact product page and select the relevant variant, such as size or color.
- Select the subscription option and record the amount, currency, billing interval, introductory terms, and any renewal amount shown.
- Check whether the page shows both subscription and one-time prices together. If so, make sure both options are clearly labeled and the selected state is apparent.
- If the one-time price requires a separate selection, capture it separately after documenting the subscription state.
- Keep the product name and enough page context visible to identify what the prices apply to.
Do not assume that the default selection is the one you intend to document. In WPSubscription’s example implementation, the first subscription card is selected by default, and the billing note changes when a duration is selected. Verify the displayed state on the actual page before capturing it: WPSubscription: How Plans Look on the Product Page.
What the screenshot should make clear
A useful comparison records more than two amounts. Preserve each detail that changes what a customer pays or what the offer means:
- Purchase type: one-time or recurring.
- Amount and currency: the charge for the option currently selected.
- Billing cadence: for example, monthly or every three months.
- Timing: introductory price and later renewal price, when the page shows both.
- Price basis: per item, per delivery, or prepaid total, where shown.
- Savings basis: which price the discount is compared with and whether the discount depends on subscribing.
- Variant and plan: the size, color, or subscription duration shown in the capture.
Shopify’s subscription UX guidance recommends clearly identifying subscription pricing and applicable savings against a one-time purchase. It also discusses price, compare-at price, per-delivery price for prepaid plans when it differs, unit price, and a subscription badge. WooCommerce documents a subscription price as the amount charged each billing period and describes schedules, signup fees, free trials, and expiration as possible product settings. When any of those details appear on the page, include them in the capture or label the screenshot so the amount is not mistaken for the full cost: WooCommerce: Creating a Subscription Product.
Choose a capture method that keeps prices readable
Use a viewport screenshot when the comparison fits
If the product identity, selection controls, subscription terms, and one-time price all fit on screen at readable size, capture the visible viewport. This usually makes the purchase state easier to inspect than shrinking a long page into one image.
Use a full-page screenshot when details are separated
If the purchase selector and price details are far apart down the page, capture the full page or take separate focused screenshots. Chrome DevTools supports both viewport and full-size screenshots, including content outside the visible viewport. In Chrome, open DevTools, open the DevTools command menu, and choose the screenshot command for the visible area or full-size page. The exact menu wording may vary by Chrome version: Chrome DevTools device mode documentation.

A very long full-page image can make small pricing text difficult to read. Prefer a readable viewport capture plus a second image focused on the other selected option rather than scaling down the whole page until the terms are illegible.

Capture the mobile layout on iPhone
For an iPhone view, Safari can capture a full-page screenshot of a webpage longer than the screen. After capturing, verify that the chosen purchase state and terms remain readable in the saved page: Apple Support: Take a screenshot on iPhone.
Document each purchase option without implying a false comparison
If both prices are displayed together and each is labeled, one screenshot may be sufficient. If changing the option changes the amount or billing note, take one screenshot with the subscription selected and another with one-time purchase selected. Keep the product variant identical across the captures where possible.

For a subscription with an introductory amount that changes at renewal, capture the renewal amount too if it is shown. Do not present an introductory price alone as though it recurs. Likewise, include any signup fee, trial, prepaid total, or per-delivery amount that materially changes the displayed offer.
When a screenshot will serve as evidence or be shared outside your team, add a caption or filename with the platform, device or browser, capture date, currency or region when known, and selected variant or plan. Do not edit amounts or crop out terms that change their meaning. A screenshot records what appeared at capture time; it does not establish that the offer remains available later or determine whether the merchant’s pricing is lawful.

Troubleshooting common capture problems
The screenshot shows the wrong option or billing interval
Re-select the intended variant, plan, and duration, then wait for the page’s price and billing note to update before capturing. Some implementations select a plan by default, so do not infer the state from how the page initially loads.

The price is missing or appears stale
Wait for the page to finish updating after changing options. If the price depends on a delayed script or selector, use a focused viewport capture after it appears rather than relying on an image captured during the transition.
The text is too small in a full-page image
Capture the relevant area at viewport size, or create separate images for subscription and one-time states. A single full-page image is not useful if the amounts and terms cannot be read.
The image omits renewal or introductory terms
Look for a second price or billing note after selecting the subscription duration. Capture or separately document the later renewal amount and any trial, signup fee, or prepaid period the page discloses.

Compare product variant, currency, selected duration, device layout, and capture date. If any changed between captures, label that difference instead of presenting the amounts as a like-for-like comparison.
