To preserve an eBay listing as it looks now, capture a screenshot and save the listing URL or item number with it. To follow an active listing, add it to your Watchlist; to find new listings or compare past ones, use saved searches or Completed listings. A screenshot records one moment—it does not track later price changes—and eBay does not guarantee a Watchlist alert for every price change.
How to screenshot an eBay listing
Before capturing the page, make sure the visible details you may need are in frame: the item title, current price, condition, shipping, seller, and item number or listing identifier if shown. Save the listing URL alongside the image when possible. Once a listing ends, the screenshot alone may not make it easy to identify or find again.
On Windows
- Open the eBay listing and position the page so the details you want to preserve are visible.
- Press Windows logo key + Shift + S to open the Snipping Tool screenshot overlay.
- Select the area to capture, then save or share the image.

On Mac
- Press Shift-Command-4 to select an area.
- Press Shift-Command-3 to capture the entire screen.
- Press Shift-Command-5 to open the Screenshot app, which includes additional controls such as a timer and save-location options.

On a phone or tablet
Use the device’s built-in screenshot controls, then check that the item title, price, condition, and other details you need appear in the captured image. The controls differ by device and model, so consult its current instructions if you need the exact button combination.
Keep screenshots useful over time
A screenshot is a visual record of what was on screen when you took it; it does not update when the price changes. When you revisit a listing, capture it again and include the date in the filename or a note, for example item-123456789012-2026-10-03.png. Keep the URL or item number with each capture so you can connect the image to the listing later.
How to track an active eBay listing
Add a listing to your Watchlist from its eBay page. To review watched items later, open My eBay and choose Watching. eBay’s Watchlist help describes sorting and filtering watched listings and notifications, including an ending-soon example. That does not establish an alert for every price change, so check the listing yourself when you need a current price. A watched listing may disappear if it ends and is not relisted after 60 days. For a manual price record, revisit the listing, note the date and displayed price, and take another screenshot. This gives you dated snapshots to compare; it is not a complete, automatically maintained price history.

If you want to spot newly listed items rather than follow one specific listing, search using descriptive terms and save that search. eBay says saved searches can provide alerts when new matching listings appear. The available alert options can vary, so review the choices shown for your account. See eBay’s saved-search help.
Compare past listings and prices
- Open eBay’s Advanced Search.
- Enter descriptive keywords for the item.
- Select Completed listings and run the search.
- Compare listings that ended with the item you are evaluating.
Completed listings help answer what similar items ended at; they are not a guaranteed timeline of changes to one active listing. For a fair comparison, check product identity or model, condition, included accessories, shipping, sale format, and sale date. eBay’s pricing help also recommends looking for similar products and checking completed listings: eBay guidance on setting item prices.

Common questions and limitations
Does Watchlist notify me whenever an eBay price changes?
Do not rely on it for that. The reviewed Watchlist help explains notifications such as ending-soon alerts, but does not guarantee an alert for each price change. Recheck the listing or keep dated screenshots and notes.
Can I see a complete price history for an active listing?
The eBay features described here do not establish a complete history of an active listing’s price changes. Watchlist follows the listing, while Completed listings show ended listings that can serve as comparisons.
Why might Watchlist capacity information differ?
eBay help pages give conflicting item limits, so a single universal capacity should not be assumed. Check the current Watchlist interface for the limit applicable to your account and marketplace.
