A normal screenshot records only the pixels currently visible. To capture everything below the fold, use your browser’s full-page screenshot command. Firefox and Microsoft Edge provide built-in options; Firefox also offers a developer command. For a one-off capture, start with Firefox or Edge. For a repeatable developer workflow, use DevTools or an API. A full-page command is different from an operating-system shortcut: it renders content outside the current viewport rather than photographing only the visible screen.
Capture a full webpage in Firefox
- Open the page and wait for its initial content to appear.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and select Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- In the screenshot toolbar, choose Save full page. Do not choose Save visible; that option captures only the current viewport.
- Download the PNG, or use the copy control to place the image on the clipboard.
Firefox’s screenshot feature is intended for both visible and full web pages: the full-page mode extends beyond the window bounds and produces one image you can save or paste into another application.
When Firefox captures the wrong amount
- If the image stops at the fold, reopen the tool and select Save full page.
- If a page reveals images or text only as you scroll, scroll through the document first, then capture it again. This is a practical workaround, not a guarantee for every lazy-loading implementation.
- If a page contains a nested scrolling panel, check that the panel’s contents are actually loaded; a browser full-page command may treat the outer document and the inner panel differently.
Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
- Open the target page in Edge.
- Open Screenshot from the page context menu or from Edge Settings. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose the full-page capture option rather than a visible-area selection.
- Copy the result or save it to your device.
Edge documents that full-page capture includes content you would otherwise need to reach by scrolling. Microsoft also notes that Screenshot availability and functionality can vary by device, market and browser version. If the command is absent, update Edge where your organization’s policy permits it and check whether the feature is enabled for your installation.

Use Firefox DevTools for a developer workflow
Firefox provides two developer-oriented ways to capture the entire document.
Enable the toolbox button
- Open Developer Tools.
- Open the DevTools settings and locate the available toolbox buttons.
- Enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Click the new camera/screenshot button while the page is open. Firefox creates an image that includes content outside the current window bounds.
Run the Web Console helper
- Open the Web Console for the page.
- Run
:screenshot --fullpage. - Allow the download prompt if Firefox asks where to save the image.
This route is useful in debugging notes or a manual test checklist because the command explicitly records that the full-page flag was used. It still depends on the page being rendered and accessible in the current browser session.
What about Chrome and Safari?
The evidence available for this guide confirms a Chrome Web Store route through the GoFullPage full-page screenshot extension. It does not establish a current first-party Chrome menu sequence or a Safari full-page workflow, so do not rely on an unverified shortcut or label.
For GoFullPage, install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, open the page, use the extension’s capture command, and review the resulting image before sharing it. The listing records version 8.9 in a changelog dated 2026-09-24. Store availability, permissions and behavior can change, so verify that the extension is acceptable under your organization’s browser policy.

Prepare pages that load content while you scroll
Full-page capture is easiest when the document already contains its complete content. News feeds, image galleries and dashboards may load additional material as the scroll position changes. Before taking the final shot:
- Scroll from top to bottom once and pause where images or sections appear.
- Wait for spinners to finish and for images to resolve.
- Return to the top and run the full-page capture again.
- Inspect the result for missing sections, duplicated blocks or a cutoff at a nested scroll area.
Infinite-scroll pages have no fixed “entire page” until you stop loading them. Capture a defined state, such as the first 20 items, or use the site’s print/export function when it provides one. Sticky headers and floating chat controls can also repeat down a stitched image; hide or dismiss them when the browser permits.
Save, copy and check the result
Choose an image format
Firefox and Edge’s built-in flows produce an image suitable for documents, bug reports and sharing. Keep the original PNG when text sharpness matters. Convert a copy to JPEG only when a smaller file is more important than lossless text edges.
Verify dimensions and readability
- Zoom the saved image to confirm small text and fixed-position elements are legible.
- Check the very bottom of the page; a failure near the end is easy to miss in a tall image.
- For a page intended for printing, compare a PDF or print preview as well, because a single very tall image may not paginate cleanly.

The tool is missing
In Edge, availability can depend on the device, market and browser version. In Firefox, confirm that you opened the page context menu or the screenshot shortcut, and that your browser is current. Managed computers may hide commands through policy.
Only the visible viewport was saved
Firefox has separate Save visible and Save full page actions. Reopen the screenshot controls and select the latter. In Edge, choose full-page capture rather than a region.

Images or sections are blank
Scroll through the page first, pause for lazy-loaded resources, then repeat the capture. Check whether the missing content lives inside an iframe, a nested scroll container or an authenticated area. If the page requires a login, capture it in the session where that login exists; an API request without the required cookies will not reproduce it.
The page never finishes
Infinite-scroll feeds and continuously updating dashboards may have no stable endpoint. Stop loading at a defined point, hide animated or irrelevant elements, or use a PDF/export view. For an API workflow, set an explicit wait condition or timeout and inspect the returned verdict and billing headers.

Capture a meaningful section or a selected element instead of the entire document, reduce unnecessary whitespace with page CSS, or request a PDF when pagination is more useful than one long image. Retain the original full-resolution file and create a resized copy for sharing.
