Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo capture an entire page in Safari, use an extension that explicitly offers full-page capture: install and enable it, open the page, choose full-page capture, then save the file. Choose visible-area capture instead if you only need what is currently on screen. Extension controls and available formats vary; the steps below distinguish Mac from iPhone and iPad.
Choose between a full-page and visible-area screenshot
A visible-area screenshot captures the current viewport. A full-page screenshot captures content beyond the visible screen, generally by scrolling or assembling page sections. Check that an extension advertises full-page capture if you need the whole document; not every Safari extension provides it.
Decide on the output before installing anything. An image such as PNG suits a screenshot you will insert into a document or edit. If you need a shareable document, check whether the extension offers PDF export. Features and formats are specific to the extension and platform.
Take a screenshot with a Safari extension on Mac
- Find a Safari web extension. Check its App Store listing for full-page capture, the formats you need, supported macOS versions, and current price. Safari web extensions are distributed as apps through Apple’s platform and App Store workflows. Apple explains Safari web-extension distribution.
- Install and enable it. Install the containing app, then enable its extension in Safari’s extension settings. Grant access to the target website only as needed. Menu names and settings locations can differ by macOS and Safari version, so follow the current on-screen instructions and the extension maker’s guidance.
- Open the page and invoke the extension. Use its Safari toolbar control or menu, if provided. Select full-page capture for the whole document, or visible-area capture for the current viewport. There is no single click sequence shared by every extension.
- Save or export the result. Choose a format offered by the extension, then check that the saved image or PDF includes the content you intended to capture.
Example: FullPage Screenshot for Safari
The App Store listing for FullPage Screenshot for Safari by Alfredo Grassau advertises full-page and visible-area capture. Its Mac listing also advertises PNG and PDF export and an editor. These are listing claims, not independent tests; confirm current compatibility, controls, features, and price on the listing before installing. The Mac price shown when the listing was retrieved was $2.99 and may have changed.

Use Safari screenshot options on iPhone or iPad
To find and manage extensions on iPhone, Apple describes using Safari’s page menu and the App Store. The sequence and labels can vary by iOS version; see Apple’s guide to finding and installing Safari extensions on iPhone.
If you need a PDF rather than an image, iPhone and iPad also have a built-in full-page scrolling screenshot workflow in Safari. Apple’s instructions show saving or sharing the full-page capture as a PDF: take a screenshot on iPhone. This can meet a full-page PDF need without installing an extension.
Check permissions and handle capture problems
- The extension is missing or unavailable on a page: Confirm it is enabled in Safari’s extension settings and check its website-access permission. Apple identifies site access and allowed-domain patterns as relevant troubleshooting checks; consult Apple’s Safari extension troubleshooting guidance.
- It captures only what is visible: Look for a separate full-page option. A visible-area action is not the same as a full-page capture, and some extensions offer only one mode.
- The result is incomplete or differs between sites: Page content and behavior can affect how an extension captures it. Check its permissions and settings, try the extension’s documented full-page mode, and inspect the result before relying on it. Do not assume every extension works identically on every website.
- The format you need is unavailable: Check the listing for the platform you use. A format or editor advertised for Mac is not necessarily available in the iPhone or iPad version. For a PDF on iPhone or iPad, consider Safari’s native full-page screenshot workflow.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a screenshot through an API rather than inside Safari, ScreenshotNeo takes a URL in one request and returns an image or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of stripe.com:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options and setup. It removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Choose an extension that matches the task
Before installing, compare the extension’s platform support, full-page versus visible-area modes, image or PDF output, editing features, current price, and privacy disclosures. A developer’s privacy statement is a disclosure, not an independent audit. The App Store listing’s user reports do not establish general failure rates, so assess the specific permissions and features you need rather than assuming universal reliability.
