You should not scrape Eventbrite’s public pages to collect event listings: Eventbrite’s Terms prohibit scraping, crawling, and other automated extraction from its sites. For permitted access, use the Eventbrite API with OAuth2, request the event data available to your account, and follow its continuation tokens until there are no more results. The public Event Search endpoint is obsolete; Eventbrite shut it down on December 12, 2019.
Can you scrape Eventbrite events?
Not from Eventbrite’s public website under its published Terms. Section 13.1 says users agree not to “scrape, crawl, or employ any automated means to extract data from the Sites.” That applies to automated extraction from the site; calling an API with authorized credentials is a different access method. It does not mean every API use is automatically permitted: check the current API documentation and API Terms for the access and display rules that apply to your use.
For event data, the practical compliant route is to request it through Eventbrite’s REST API using OAuth2 authentication. The API returns JSON. The available resources and access depend on your account and authorization, so plan the integration around resources your account can currently use rather than an old public search endpoint.
Why old Eventbrite search tutorials fail
The public Event Search endpoint was shut down on December 12, 2019. Code that relies on that endpoint is not a current way to discover public listings. Do not substitute a guessed endpoint or try to work around the shutdown by crawling event pages. Start with the current API documentation and an approved API key instead.

Get authorized API access
- Create an API key. In Eventbrite, go to Account Settings → API Keys → Create API key. Eventbrite asks for application details and may approve the key by email.
- Choose the authorization model. For access on your own behalf, use the private token as documented by Eventbrite. If your application will act for other users, implement OAuth: send them to Eventbrite’s authorization URL, then exchange the returned code at Eventbrite’s token URL.
- Keep credentials server-side. Do not put a private token in browser JavaScript, a public repository, or a mobile app bundle. A user who can inspect the client can recover the token. Store it in a server-side secret manager or environment variable, and restrict access to the process that needs it.
- Confirm the resource and fields. Use a currently documented API resource that your key is authorized to call. Eventbrite’s API documentation can change; verify the endpoint, request parameters, and pagination parameter names there before deployment.
Eventbrite describes its API as REST-based, using OAuth2 authorization and returning JSON. Its documentation also notes that the API uses POST instead of PUT for updates. Those details do not establish that every resource supports every HTTP method: follow the method shown for the specific resource you use.
Choose useful event fields
For each event, preserve a stable identifier and normalize the fields your application actually needs. Commonly useful Eventbrite event-object fields include:
nameandsummaryfor the event’s displayed title and short description.urlfor the listing’s source URL. Retain it even if you also store your own internal record ID.startandendfor scheduled times, pluscreated,changed, andpublishedwhen you need to track record history or publication.statusandcurrencyfor lifecycle and monetary context.online_eventto distinguish online events where the API supplies that value.
Event status can include values such as draft, live, started, ended, completed, and canceled. Do not assume that a record marked live will remain live: retain the status and update it when you refresh the event. Likewise, timestamps should be parsed as timestamps with their supplied timezone information, not silently treated as local machine time.

When to request expansions
The API documentation describes expansions for related objects such as organizers and venues. They can reduce the need for separate lookups, but each expansion slightly slows a request. Add only the related objects your output requires; if your export needs just the event title, dates, status, and link, fetching venue and organizer details adds work without helping that export.
Paginate until Eventbrite says there are no more results
A single successful response is not necessarily a complete export. Treat the response as one page. Check has_more_items; when it is true, pass the response’s continuation token with the next request and repeat. Stop when the response says there are no more items or provides no usable continuation token. Use the exact continuation parameter name and token location specified by the current endpoint documentation; do not assume every resource names them identically.
Save a retrieval timestamp and the last continuation token while a long job is running. That lets an interrupted process resume from its recorded state, provided the endpoint accepts that token later. If it does not, restart the traversal and deduplicate by event ID. Avoid treating a token as a permanent cursor unless the resource documentation promises that behavior.

Example: export API pages to JSON or CSV with Python
The script below handles JSON pages, follows a continuation token, deduplicates by event ID, and writes normalized JSON and CSV. Since the exact current event resource URL and continuation request parameter depend on the API resource available to your account, set them from Eventbrite’s current documentation rather than using an obsolete search URL. The script expects each page to contain an event list, has_more_items, and a continuation token; adjust the two response-key settings if the resource documents different names.
Install the dependency with python -m pip install requests. Set EVENTBRITE_TOKEN to a private token and configure the endpoint and pagination parameter from the resource documentation:
export EVENTBRITE_TOKEN='your-private-token'
export EVENTBRITE_EVENTS_URL='the-current-authorized-event-resource-url'
export EVENTBRITE_CONTINUATION_PARAM='the-documented-continuation-parameter'
python export_events.py
Save this as export_events.py:
import csv
import json
import os
import sys
from datetime import datetime, timezone
import requests
URL = os.environ.get("EVENTBRITE_EVENTS_URL")
TOKEN = os.environ.get("EVENTBRITE_TOKEN")
CONTINUATION_PARAM = os.environ.get("EVENTBRITE_CONTINUATION_PARAM")
if not URL or not TOKEN or not CONTINUATION_PARAM:
sys.exit("Set EVENTBRITE_EVENTS_URL, EVENTBRITE_TOKEN, and EVENTBRITE_CONTINUATION_PARAM.")
FIELDS = [
"id", "name", "summary", "url", "start", "end", "created",
"changed", "published", "status", "currency", "online_event"
]
session = requests.Session()
session.headers.update({"Authorization": f"Bearer {TOKEN}", "Accept": "application/json"})
params = {}
seen = set()
events = []
retrieved_at = datetime.now(timezone.utc).isoformat()
while True:
response = session.get(URL, params=params, timeout=60)
response.raise_for_status()
page = response.json()
# Confirm the event-list key for the resource you chose.
items = page.get("events", [])
if not isinstance(items, list):
raise ValueError("Expected the documented event-list field to be a list")
for event in items:
event_id = event.get("id")
if event_id is None or event_id in seen:
continue
seen.add(event_id)
row = {key: event.get(key) for key in FIELDS}
row["retrieved_at"] = retrieved_at
events.append(row)
if not page.get("has_more_items"):
break
token = page.get("continuation")
if not token:
raise ValueError("Page says more items exist but has no continuation token")
params[CONTINUATION_PARAM] = token
with open("events.json", "w", encoding="utf-8") as f:
json.dump(events, f, ensure_ascii=False, indent=2)
with open("events.csv", "w", newline="", encoding="utf-8") as f:
writer = csv.DictWriter(f, fieldnames=FIELDS + ["retrieved_at"])
writer.writeheader()
writer.writerows(events)
print(f"Exported {len(events)} unique events to events.json and events.csv")
The code deliberately makes the resource URL, request parameter, and event-list response key visible rather than disguising them as universal API conventions. Before running it, align the marked response keys with the current resource documentation. The bearer-token header is the usual way to send the private token in the documented personal-access flow; if Eventbrite specifies a different authorization format for your resource or app, use that instruction.

What to change for your own export
- Set an appropriate date or other filter only if the selected API resource documents it.
- If the response wraps events under a different key, change
page.get("events", [])to that documented key. - If the continuation token is returned under another key, change
page.get("continuation"). Keep thehas_more_itemscheck and stop condition. - If you need organizer or venue data, request documented expansions deliberately and add the corresponding fields to the normalized output.
- For large or recurring exports, write pages incrementally to durable storage and persist the continuation token and retrieval time. The example collects all unique events in memory, so it is better suited to bounded exports than very large jobs.
Display API-derived listings with the required attribution
Eventbrite’s API Terms require an application that displays or makes event-listing content available to show the event title and a direct link to the associated Eventbrite page. Keep the returned event name and url together in your application; do not strip the source link out of a downstream listing view. The API Terms page was last updated May 30, 2025, so check the current terms before launch and whenever you materially change how the data is used.
Troubleshooting common export failures
- Unauthorized response: Verify that the token is present, valid, and sent using the authorization method required for that flow. For multi-user access, confirm the user completed OAuth and that the token exchange succeeded. Never solve this by moving the token into client-side code.
- Forbidden or unavailable resource: The API key may not have approval or access to that resource. Recheck account approval, permissions, and the current API documentation; do not fall back to scraping public pages.
- Only the first page appears: Check that the code reads
has_more_items, captures the continuation token from the correct response field, and sends it as the documented next-request parameter. - Pagination stops unexpectedly: Log the response status and pagination fields for each page. A missing token while
has_more_itemsis true should be treated as an error, not as a complete export. - Duplicate events: Deduplicate on the stable event ID, as in the example. Do not use title alone; unrelated events can share a name, and an event title can change.
- CSV columns are empty: Confirm the selected resource actually returns those fields and that the response object shape matches the parser. Request documented expansions only for related data you require.
- Times appear shifted: Preserve timezone information from the API and convert deliberately for display. Do not parse a timestamp as timezone-free local time.
- Requests slow down as fields grow: Remove unneeded expansions. Eventbrite notes each expansion slightly slows requests, so retrieve related objects only when the export needs them.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API, not an Eventbrite event-data API: a screenshot does not return structured event records or replace authorized API access. If you also need a clean visual capture of an Eventbrite page, one GET request can return an image or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.eventbrite.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners as a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. These are screenshot features, not a way around Eventbrite’s scraping restriction. Conclusion
For Eventbrite listing data, use an authorized API resource, protect its credentials, and traverse all pages using the response’s continuation token until has_more_items is false. Preserve event IDs and source URLs, display the required title and direct Eventbrite link, and verify the current API documentation and terms before shipping. Do not build a public-page crawler around the retired search endpoint.
