To schedule a YouTube live stream, open YouTube Studio on a computer and choose Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule Stream. Reuse settings from an earlier stream or create a new one, add the event details, and set its date and time. In the YouTube app, use Create → Live → Schedule for later. Scheduling creates an upcoming event page to share; it does not start the broadcast for you.
Before you schedule: check channel eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days for live streaming. Scheduling is separate from choosing how to broadcast: YouTube supports mobile, webcam, encoder, and console methods. A webcam is needed only if you choose the computer webcam method; encoder setups are useful for overlays or additional audio and video equipment. YouTube’s live-streaming overview explains the methods and general requirements.
Additional requirements for mobile
To live stream from the YouTube mobile app, the channel must have at least 50 subscribers, be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and have live streaming enabled. A first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available after activation. These additional mobile requirements do not apply universally to webcam or encoder streams. Check YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements if the app does not offer the feature.
Schedule a stream from a computer
- Open YouTube Studio and sign in to the channel you plan to stream from.
- Select Create, then Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Open Manage and select Schedule Stream.
- Choose Reuse settings to carry over settings from a previous stream, or choose Create new.
- Enter the stream details, set the scheduled date and time, review the available settings, and complete the scheduling flow.
You can edit stream settings while scheduling. The event is then available as an upcoming stream, which you can share before broadcast.

Starting an encoder stream at the scheduled time
Scheduling the event does not connect or start your encoder. When it is time to broadcast, use the stream URL and stream key for the scheduled event in your encoder, start the encoder, and wait for its video preview to appear in Live Control Room. Check the incoming picture and sound, then select Go live. YouTube’s encoder scheduling instructions cover the event and connection workflow.
Schedule a stream from a phone or tablet
- In the YouTube app, tap Create, then Live.
- Edit the stream details and choose Schedule for later.
- Select the date and enter the remaining details, then complete setup.
- To start it later, return to Create → Live, tap the calendar, select the scheduled stream, and tap Go live when ready.
Mobile scheduling and starting use the YouTube app, but the mobile eligibility requirements still apply. For the app-specific steps, see YouTube’s instructions for scheduling a mobile live stream.

What viewers see and how to promote the event
A scheduled event may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds. Viewers may select Notify me to request a reminder when the stream is about to begin. Share the event URL through your channel and other appropriate channels so people can find the page in advance; feed placement and reminders should not be treated as guaranteed for every viewer. YouTube notes that scheduling lets creators promote a stream in its encoder guidance.

For an encoder-produced event, YouTube recommends preparing early rather than waiting until the scheduled minute:

These are YouTube’s preparation recommendations, not extra rules for creating the scheduled event. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and recommendations.
Keep the scheduled event distinct from an always-on stream
A scheduled event is a one-time event you announce ahead of its start; the chosen streaming method still has to deliver the broadcast when it is time. If your goal is instead to keep uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. Each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.

Troubleshooting scheduling and launch problems
The live option is missing
Check that live streaming is enabled and that the channel meets the applicable eligibility requirements. Mobile has extra requirements, including the subscriber minimum, and initial activation can take up to 24 hours.
The scheduled event is not visible to a viewer
Open the event page and confirm that you are sharing the scheduled event URL. YouTube says the event may appear in subscribers’ feeds; that placement is not guaranteed for every subscriber.

The encoder preview does not appear
Confirm that the encoder is sending to the scheduled event using its stream URL and key, and that the encoder has been started. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room before selecting Go live. If the event is near its start time, verify the event and encoder setup rather than assuming scheduling itself starts the encoder.
The mobile app will not start the scheduled stream
Confirm the channel meets mobile eligibility requirements, then return through Create → Live and select the event from the calendar. If mobile live streaming was only just activated, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.
Copyright and stream content
Scheduling does not grant rights to the video, music, or other material in a broadcast. Use content you own or are authorized to stream, and review YouTube’s current copyright guidance before using third-party material. A scheduled event’s existence is not an approval of its content.
