You can schedule a YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio, but the official guidance reviewed does not document a feature that automatically plays an ordinary YouTube playlist as sequential live blocks. Treat scheduling the live broadcast and preparing its playlist-fed content as separate jobs. YouTube’s live-stream help also does not specify how Live Control Room handles time zones, so verify the event’s displayed time against Indian Standard Time (IST) before sharing it.
What you can schedule—and what you cannot assume
A scheduled YouTube Live stream is an upcoming broadcast event created in Live Control Room. You can share its watch-page URL, and eligible upcoming streams may appear in subscribers’ feeds with a “Notify me” option. That is separate from a normal YouTube playlist, which groups videos. The official instructions reviewed describe scheduling a broadcast and organizing archives or highlight clips into playlists, but do not document automatic sequential playback of an ordinary playlist as live blocks. YouTube’s encoder setup guide and playlist guidance cover these distinct workflows.
This distinction matters for a block schedule: creating an event does not, by itself, establish that YouTube will queue your selected videos and broadcast them one after another. If your plan depends on playlist-fed playback, treat the content queue as a separate production setup and confirm that your chosen playback or encoding method supports it. The YouTube guidance cited here does not validate a particular external playlist workflow or guarantee unattended playback.
Schedule the YouTube Live event in Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, open Manage and select Schedule stream, following the encoder workflow in YouTube’s live-stream setup instructions.
- Create or reuse event settings. Choose to create a new event or reuse previous stream settings, then complete the event setup in Studio. Scheduling creates the upcoming broadcast and lets you share its URL; it does not document a playlist playback queue.
- Inspect the displayed date and time. Before announcing the event, confirm the time shown for the scheduled live event and check that it corresponds to your intended IST start. The live-stream help reviewed does not establish whether this display follows local device time, an account setting, or a selectable time zone.
- Share the watch page. Give viewers the event URL once you have verified the displayed time. YouTube says upcoming scheduled streams may appear in subscribers’ feeds with a “Notify me” option; do not promise that every subscriber will see a reminder. YouTube’s live-stream promotion guidance describes upcoming-stream promotion.
Handle IST carefully
Do not infer live-event time-zone behavior from the instructions for scheduling an uploaded video. YouTube’s live-stream scheduling guidance does not specify a time-zone selector or an IST setting. By contrast, the separate scheduled publishing workflow for videos includes a time-zone choice and notes that the watch-page published date is based on Pacific Standard Time; those video-publishing details are not proof of how a Live Control Room event is timed.

- If the displayed time is unclear, do not announce a conversion you cannot verify in the event itself.
Prepare the content blocks and encoder separately
Plan a sustainable running order
Decide what each block contains, its duration, the overall broadcast length, and how the blocks connect. Make a schedule you can maintain and communicate changes to viewers. YouTube’s upload schedule tips for Live recommend a consistent, sustainable release schedule and advance planning; they do not promise a specific discovery or audience result.
Preview before the start
For a playlist-fed broadcast using an encoder or another production workflow, prepare that setup ahead of the event. YouTube recommends starting the encoder before the planned event, previewing the feed in Live Control Room, confirming the event is accessible, and monitoring audio and video. Its live-streaming tips discuss production preparation; their recommendation of professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events is not a requirement for scheduling a stream.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
Organize the archive afterward
After the broadcast, you can organize its archive or highlight clips into playlists if that helps viewers find related material. Playlist organization after an event is not the same as scheduling those playlist items to play as live blocks. YouTube’s promotion guidance discusses archives and highlights.
Keep the schedule clear for viewers
- Publish a sustainable cadence and update viewers if it changes, as recommended in YouTube’s schedule tips.
- Share the scheduled event URL only after checking its displayed time against IST.
- Tell viewers what the blocks are and when the broadcast is expected to start, without implying the ordinary playlist itself is controlling playback.
Troubleshooting scheduling and block playback
- The event time appears wrong or ambiguous: The reviewed live-stream instructions do not document the event’s time-zone conversion or an IST selector. Recheck the time shown in Studio and verify the intended IST start before sharing.
- The event is scheduled, but the videos do not advance as expected: Scheduling creates the broadcast event; it does not establish an ordinary playlist playback queue. Check the separate playback or encoder workflow you chose rather than assuming the Studio event will sequence playlist items.
- The feed is unavailable or has audio/video problems: Follow YouTube’s preparation guidance: start the encoder ahead of time, preview in Live Control Room, confirm event access, and monitor the feed. YouTube’s live-streaming tips cover these checks.
- Viewers are unsure when to join: Reconfirm the scheduled event time and communicate any schedule changes. Share the watch page so viewers can use the available “Notify me” option when it appears.
