Schedule the event in YouTube Studio, then use an encoder such as OBS Studio to send a looping video feed to it. YouTube creates the event page; OBS plays the prerecorded file repeatedly and sends it as a live stream. Scheduling alone does not make YouTube loop an uploaded video.
Before you schedule: check channel eligibility
Confirm that live streaming is enabled for your channel before planning the event. YouTube’s eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, and YouTube’s page sets a minimum age of 16. Check the current requirements at YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility page.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live.
- Open Manage, then choose Schedule Stream. You can create a new event or reuse settings from an earlier stream.
- Set the title, visibility, scheduled time, and other event details. Share the scheduled event page if you want viewers to find it and set reminders.
- Keep the event’s stream URL and stream key available for the encoder setup. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with viewers.

Make a prerecorded video loop in OBS
Loop one local video file
- Open OBS Studio and create or select the scene you will use for the event.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source.
- Choose the local video file you want to stream.
- Enable the source’s Loop property. OBS will repeat the file after it reaches the end.
- Check the scene preview and audio. Keep the source file available on the computer for the duration of the stream.

Loop a playlist of files
For multiple videos, use OBS’s VLC Video source with a playlist and enable Loop Playlist. This option requires VLC to be installed. Confirm the order and playback of the files in the scene before going live.
Connect OBS to the scheduled event
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream and connect to YouTube if the direct integration is available, or enter the scheduled event’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder settings.
- Set the output to a resolution and bitrate your stable upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMPS, H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval; it says not to exceed 4 seconds. See YouTube’s encoder settings.
- Start streaming from OBS and check the incoming preview and stream health in YouTube Live Control Room.
- When the preview is correct, start the event if it does not begin automatically under its auto-start setting.
YouTube transcodes incoming live feeds for playback formats. Test with representative motion and audio, rather than relying on a static preview to confirm the complete setup.

Test timing, monitor the stream, and plan the end
YouTube recommends preparing the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Use that lead time to confirm the preview, audio, video, stream health, and event start behavior. Its live streaming tips describe this preparation guidance.
For long streams, plan separately for an archive. YouTube says it can automatically archive live streams shorter than 12 hours; streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete replay matters, record a local backup and consider dividing a very long broadcast into separate events. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

For the basic task of looping one video, dedicated hardware is not necessary. Decide based on whether you need one file or a playlist, whether an existing computer can stay online, how much unattended operation matters, and whether a dependable archive is important.
